AT 50,000 MILES , AND EARLIER, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER, AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. UPON TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE, AND NEEDED REPLACING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THANKS FOR ALLOWING ME TO VENT. I PURCHASED MY 2004 F150 USED FROM A LOCAL DEALER, I HAD A 30 DAY 3000 MILE WARRANTY. I PURCHASED IT WITH 72,000 MILES FOR $15,899.00. WITHIN 3 DAYS IT STARTED A SHAKING, VIBRATION GOING UP INCLINES AROUND 45 MPH. I CONTACTED DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, A DAY LATER IT WAS DOING IT AGAIN, I CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID I WAS OUT OF MY 30 DAYS. OBVIOUSLY IT WASN'T THE CATS. I READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IT SOUNDS LIKE FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM, THEN THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO RECALL IT. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE IS ROUTED TOO CLOSE TO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE CABLE COVER TO MELT OVER TIME ALLOWING THE CABLE TO BECOME LOOSE. THIS PREVENTS THE COLUMN SHIFTER FROM TRANSFERRING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK EVEN THOUGH THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR IS IN THE PARK POSITION. *TR

I WAS DOING NOTHING ABNORMAL, SIMPLY TRYING TO BACK UP FROM A STORE WITH NOTHING IN BED OF TRUCK. THE TRUCK SHIFTED INTO REVERSE NORMALLY THEN AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE A SLIGHT THUD. I HAVE READ A TON OF FORUMS SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO HUNDREDS OF OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. ON JUNE 29, 2009 WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A BUSY CITY STREET THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING APPEARED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. WE REPLACED A 98 MAZDA TRUCK WITH THIS 04 F150 BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THE F150 WOULD BE SAFE AND RELIABLE. THE 98 MAZDA, SOLD TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW, IS STILL RUNNING GREAT. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! *TR

THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, ON JUNE 16, 2008, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT WAS MILEAGE 46,000.

BOUGHT A USED VEHICLE 2004 FORD F150 HAS A SHUDDER/VIBRATION IN THE REAR AXLE. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THEY WILL FIX IT TO "LESSEN THE CONCERN," NOT COMPLETELY GET RID OF IT. MY AFTERMARKET WARRANTY WILL COVER IT AFTER DEDUCTIBLE AND TAXES. I BOUGHT THE 2004 FX4 F-150 SUPER CAB IN LATE 2005 WITH 25000 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED A $1400 EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM AN INDEPENDENT COMPANY THROUGH THE FORD DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE FIRST FEW MONTHS I NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND UNDER THE TRUCK THAT SOUNDED LIKE A FEW BALL BEARINGS ROLLING AROUND QUICKLY IN A METAL BOWL. IT WOULD LAST ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS AND THEN I WOULD NOT HEAR AGAIN FOR A FEW MONTHS. 2004 F-150 SUPERCREW 2WD AUTOMATIC. TRANSMISSION REQUIRES REBUILD AT 54000. BOUGHT NEW ALL SEALS REPLACED WITHIN 2-3 MONTHS DUE TO FLUID LEAKS. SLIPPING BEGAN LESS THAN 40,000. FLUID FLUSH ALLEVIATED THE ISSUE, BUT SLIPPING RETURNED. AT 60 MPH TRASMISSION SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL MOMENTARILY AT RANDOM TIMES. POWER REAR SLIDING WINDOW DOES NOT WORK; FAILED WITHIN FIRST 2-3 MONTHS; NO COMPUTER CODE TO DETAIL THE ISSUE SO FORD WILL NOT FIX REGARDLESS OF CONFIRMED FAILURE AND WARRANTY COVERAGE. MY F-150 SUPERCREW HAS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVETRAIN, PRIMARILY A LOUD GRINDING NOISE CAN BE HEARD UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE HAD RUN OVER SOME TYPE OF METALLIC OBJECT ON THE ROADWAY. THE NOISE WENT AWAY AFTER I MERGED ONTO A HIGHWAY. MY 2004 FORD 150 WITH 4 WHEEL DRIVE , WILL NOT ALWAYS SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, WITHOUT A GREAT GRINDING OF THE TRANSMISSION. EXPERIENCE CONSISTENT SIGNIFICANT JERK/CLUNK/SLAM AFTER COASTING IN 3RD GEAR AND ACCELERATE DOWN SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR. SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS NORMAL AND TO NOT REPAIR, YET MY ISSUE IS NOT INTERMITTENT AND IS A SIGNIFICANTLY NOTICEABLE AND UNCOMFORTABLE JERK IN THE DRIVELINE THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL PERFORMANCE FROM ANY TRANSMISSION AWARE OF WITHOUT A VERY AGGRESSIVE SHIFT KIT INSTALLED AND A PLETHORA OF HORSEPOWER. I HAVE OWNED A 2004 FORD F-150 FX4 WITH ONLY 14,000 MILES ON IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP AT FORD FOR 4 DAYS NOW AND THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. REAR WINDOW SEAL IS LOOSE AND WINDOW RATTLES INSIDE OF MOUNTING AREA INDICATING AN INSUFFICIENT MOUNT TO RETAIN WINDOW IN MOUNTING AREA. *NM

DT: ON 8-15-05 TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 60 MPH. THE OWNER HAD TO PULL OVER. THE TRUCK STARTED TO BUCK AS IF IT WAS GOING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR SLOWING AND TURNING TRANSMISSION SLIPS GEARS. VERY NOTICABLE BETWEEN SECOND TO THIRD SHIFT. GEAR SLIPAGE CAUSING LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. TRANSMISSION ALSO SHIFTS HARD AS IT SLIPS.
CONTINUOUS VIBRATIONS IN 2004 F150 AFTER FIVE TIMES TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS. DRIVE SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT STILL HAVE VIBRATIONS. ACCORDING TO RADAR AND GPS THE SPEEDOMETER IS INCORRECT UP TO 3 MILES PER HOUR CLOCKING EXAMPLE. OPERATING AT 55 MPH SPEEDOMETER SHOWING 58 TO 58 1/2 MPH.
DT: HAD TO PUT 4 SETS OF BRAKES ON VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. THE ROTORS WERE GETTING GROOVED SO BADLY THAT VEHICLE PULLS OFF THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER TALKED TO FORD, AND THEY IGNORED HIM. HE TRAVELED AND SAW THIS PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OTHER FORD CARS. CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK, THERE IS A VIBRATION FROM THE DRIVELINE. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF SERVICE SINCE 11/25/04 UNTIL PRESENT FOR THE SAME ISSUES. FORD ORGINALLY DID NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM, AND WENT DOWN THE TSB LIST REPLACING DIFFERENT PARTS SUCH AS TRANSMISSION MOUNTS AND DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS UNTIL THE LAST SERVICE ON 1/27/05 FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE RING AND PINION IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL.
