ENGINE WAS REVVING AND JERKING IN TO THE NEXT GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING THE FIRST TIME AFTER STARTING THE CAR. AFTER THE FIRST CYCLE THROUGH GEARS, THE ISSUE NO LONGER HAPPENED. WHILE BEING A 2013, THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 36,500 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF VALVE BODY AND SELENOID BODY DUE TO THE SEALS IN THE DIRECT CLUTCH BEING "DESTROYED." THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE COMPLETELY TAKEN APART TO FIND THE CAUSE, COSTING NEARLY $4,000 IN REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STAY ENGAGED IN PARK. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS BEEN REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THIS TIME IT ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO SOMEONE ELSE'S VEHICLE. OUR VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AT THE TOP OF THE DRIVEWAY FOR NEARLY 2 HOURS BEFORE THE PERSON PARKED BEHIND OR VEHICLE. THEY WHERE AT OUR HOUSE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, WHEN THEY WHERE LEAVING WE NOTICED THAT OUR VEHICLE HAD DISENGAGED FROM PARK AND ROLLED 15' DOWN THE DRIVEWAY INTO THEIR VEHICLE. THANKFULLY, THERE WERE ONLY A FEW SCRATCHES ON EITHER VEHICLE. OUR DRIVEWAY IS FAIRLY FLAT, IT HAS A 1-3 DEGREE SLOPE TO IT. LEADING TO THE CONCLUSION, THAT THERE IS NOT A LARGE INCLINE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FORCED OUT OF PARK. HAS THERE BEEN ANY REPORTED CASES OF A 2013 FORD EXPLORER SLIPPING FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITH THE SHIFTER? I HAVE NO SPECIFICS OTHER THAN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE CAR WAS PHYSICALLY SHIFTED FROM DRIVE TO PARK OR REVERSE (ACCIDENTALLY) AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT IN HOUMA, LA.. I KNOW MULTIPLE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2013 EXPLORERS. FORD HAS ALSO BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR FOCUS. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TAKEN INTO THEIR MECHANICS YOU ARE TOLD THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. THE CAR WARNING SYSTEM WOULD ADVISE TO SHIFT INTO PARK AFTER TURNING CAR OFF. THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING WITH JUST 15769 MILES AND WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE 24 JAN 2014 WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN AT 50043 MILES AND WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE ON 6 SEPT 2018. AGAIN, THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS NOT JUST AN INDICATING PROBLEM AND THAT THE CAR MY NOT BE FULLY IN PARK THEREBY CREATING AN INADVERTENT ROLL AWAY OR WORSE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
