THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER SUPPORT BRACKET ON THE REAR TRUNK LID OF THE EXPLORER SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE TRUNK LID TO FALL ON MY WIFE. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER NOTIFYING THEM OF THE ISSUE AND THE SAFETY BULLETIN THAT WAS ISSUED (95I007000). THEY STATED THE TRUCK WAS 3,000 MILES OUT OF THE SAFETY MILEAGE COVERAGE AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THIS WAS A FORD DEFECT AND NOW IT HAS RESULTED IN AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD FOR OUR FAMILY AS WELL AS A POTENTIAL $1,400 REPAIR BILL.

THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS LEAVES IN THE BLOWER. THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE APART THE DASH AND CHARGE ME. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE AGAINST THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER FOR THIS SAFETY HAZARD. I FEAR THE VEHICLE WILL IGNITE BECAUSE THE SMOKE IS VERY HEAVY AND BILLOWING OUT FROM THE INTERIOR VENTS AND EXTERIOR IN FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD.

THE SHOCKS THAT HOLD THE TAILGATE UP HAVE FAILED AND BROKEN AWAY FROM THERE WELDS. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY INFORMED US OF A RECALL THAT HAD STARTED AND ENDED IN 96. I CANT BELIEVE HOW FORD IS HANDELING THIS. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE ON THIS WEB SITE AND IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. FORD CANT ISSUE A RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BROKE WHEN THE RECALL IS ISSUED KNOWING THAT AT SOME POINT IT IS GOING TO BREAK BUT WE ARENT GOING TO FIX IT. THIS IS OFFENSIVE TO ME BECOUSE THE EXPLORER HAS MULTIPLE MECHANICAL PROBLEMS BUT I WRITE THOSE OFF TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE TAILGATE SHOULD NOT FAIL. FORD SHOULD BE OBLIGATED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON WHATEVER YEAR THE VEHICLE MAY BE. I AM GOIN TO CONTINUE INVESTIGATING AND FIND SOME WAY TO GET...
