ON MAY FIRST OF 2014 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I ASSUMED I NEEDED OIL, SO I WENT TO THE ADVANCED AUTO STORE AND PURCHASED SOME OIL. I PUT THE OIL IN AND BEGAN TO PROCEED HOME. I WAS DRIVING AND THE OIL LIGHT WAS SHOWING AS HOT. THE CAR WOULD NOT GIVE ENOUGH POWER FOR ME TO DRIVE, IT BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE ANYMORE. IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS CAR'S MAKE AND MODEL IS A RECALL CAR. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. *TR
I DROVE THE ABOUT 3 MILES, AND PARKED THE TRUCK, THEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN FRONT OF THE WAL-MART. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR BEFORE WE GOT NOTIFIED THAT THE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND A EXPLOSION CAME FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AREA. 911 WAS CALLED AND THE FIRED DEPT CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, BUT STATED WE NEED TO CONTACT THE MAUFACTOR, AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AS WELL (PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY - [XXX]" INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

I AM TOLD THERE IS NO GOOD FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AND I AM GETTING ESTIMATES AS HIGH AS $3500. MOST SAY THAT...
I HAVE A 2000 FORD EXPEDITION WITH THE TRITON V-8, 5.4 LITER ENGINE THAT HAD A SPARK PLUG POP OUT OF THE HEAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING, DESTROYING THE FUEL INJECTOR. ACCORDING TO MY FORD DEALER, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE AND CAN'T REALLY SEE HOW YOU CAN USE THE WORD COMMON WITH A SPARK PLUG EJECTING ITSELF, BUT OH WELL. ANYWAY, FORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF WARRANTY ON THIS. HOW CAN THIS BE?? A SPARK PLUG EJECTING CAN LEAD TO THE VERY REAL POSSIBILITY OF FUEL COMING OUT OF THE CYLINDER AND IGNITING. THIS SEEMS PRETTY DANGEROUS TO ME. THE DEALER WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE SPARK PLUG PORT RE-THREADED AND A NEW INJECTOR PUT IN PLACE FOR A TOTAL OF 590 DOLLARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT WATER ENTERED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND DRAINED INTO THE FUSE BOX, WHICH DAMAGED THE G.E.M MODULE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 120,000.

TODAY WE HAD A SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT ON THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME A PRICE OF OVER $700 TO HAVE A TEMPORARY FIX OF A HELI COIL PLACED INTO THE SPARK PLUG HOLE TO REPLACE THE STRIPPED THREADS CAUSED BY THE BLOWOUT AND TO HAVE THE COIL REPLACED. HE MENTIONED THAT THIS TEMPORARY FIX IS NOT SOMETHING THAT HE CAN GUARANTEE WILL WORK SO HE ALSO OFFERED ME A $5000 "PERMANENT FIX" OF HAVING THE ENTIRE ENGINE BLOCK REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO MY FINANCIAL SITUATION, I CANNOT AFFORD THE PERMANENT FIX AND AM HAVING TO OPT FOR/GAMBLE WITH THE TEMPORARY FIX ATTEMPT. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC...

THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

SIMPLY PUT, IN AMBIENT TEMPERATURES OVER 100 DEGREES F, THE ENGINE COMPUTER WILL ALTER TIMING (IN A MISGUIDED ATTEMPT TO REDUCE ENGINE TEMPERATURE) WHICH RADICALLY REDUCES ENGINE POWER. FORD HAS A PURPORTED "FIX" UNDER ITS TECH BULLETIN NO. 02-12-3, DATED 06/24/02, AUTHORIZING REPROGRAMMING OF THE COMPUTER AND INSTALLATION OF SOME BODY PLUGS. PROBLEM IS THAT THE PROBLEM REMAINS AFTER THE TECH BULLETIN WORK IS PERFORMED. ON MY 2000 EXPEDITION, I CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE POWER LOSS OF ROUGHLY 30% IN STOP/GO DRIVING AND THE HOT SUMMER TEMPERATURES IN THE PHOENIX AREA. THIS POSES AN EXTREME RISK IN CITY TRAFFIC, SUCH AS WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO CLEAR AN INTERSECTION OR AVOID AN ACCIDENT. (1) AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER VEHICLE STARTED. (2) DEALER STATED AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN ACCIDENT UNLESS SENSOR REPLACED. (3) SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE AND WIRING HARNESS HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE. (1) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ODOMETER FLICKERED THEN FAILED. (3) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED. (1) ENGINE KNOCK (2) 5.4 ENGINE FAILED AT 32,000 MILES. (3) ENGINE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. (1) TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AT 55,000 MILES. (2) TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. (3) TRANSMISSION REPLACED. (1) TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING AGAIN AT 76,000 MILES. (2) HIGH RPM BEFORE SHIFTING INTO NEXT GEAR. (3) BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. *JB
THE SPARK PLUG WENT OUT WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. CONSUMER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG, DROVE TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THE HEAD WAS BLOWN AND REPLACED IT. CURRENTLY, THE ENGINE BLEW OUT. CONSUMER STATED THE SPARK PLUG LEFT THE ENGINE AGAIN.*AK
NORMAL DRIVING AND HEARD LOUD NOISES UNDER THE HOOD. TURNED OUT TO BE A BLOWN SPARK PLUG IN THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD. I MANAGED TO PULL OFF FREEWAY AFTER SEVERAL MILES AND HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER. HAVE JUST READ ABOUT A LOT OF FORD TRUCK OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH SOME EXPERIENCING IT MORE THAN ONCE! I AM NOT HAPPY. TRUCK AT CARS101 SERVICE DEPT NOW IN HOPES THAT IT CAN BE REPAIRED BUT FROM I'VE BEEN READING I'M NOT SURE. *JB
