Leaking coolant to the inside of the motor. Currently at 64000 miles. Motor was repaired once before for same issue at 33000 miles with previous owner. I purchased this from a ford dealer as a certified pre owned. I was unaware of the issue with this motor. As I can find online here this year make and model with this motor has this issue as an ongoing problem with ford.

- engine severely lost power - if I didn’t get off the road in time could’ve possibly created a big car accident -took my car to 2 independent car shops and one have confirmed the problem - no the car has not been inspected by anyone but the service center. If have to it will be done -the only warning was the check engine light which isn’t much of a warning if the problem is already present Anti-Freeze coolant leaks into a cylinder randomly. Caused the engine to stall out immediately on the freeway.

2019 Ford Escape Titanium Eco Boost 2.0 w/ 86,442 miles. Regularly maintained, no accidents, no previous owners. DTC for misfire cylinder #1. Performed coolant pressure test, found system losing pressure and cylinder intrusion, with matching symptoms, recommend further diagnostics. Check engine light diagnostic testing resulted in P0496. Removed and replaced EVAP purge control solenoid. After a few days new check engine light diagnostic testing resulting in P0302 cylinders misfire. Mechanic's diagnostics found coolant leak within engine. Dealership stated we would need a new engine for $9,100. Continued operation will result in overheating.

Torque converter this is the 2 nd time 14 months apart that I need to replace the converter. It causes the car to not accelerate or stop driving with a warning.

The vehicle very briefly showed a high temp warning (as in, the indicator came on, and went off just as fast, the temp gauge on the instrument panel went to high, and immediately back to normal). Later, the vehicle showed a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and a runs rough condition. Diagnostics by a local repair shop as well as the dealership verified that this was due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder, and as a result, I now need to pay $7,100 for a new engine with no help or relief from Ford.

2019 Ford Escape w/ 30,000 miles. Regularly maintained, no accidents, no previous owners. Engine coolant leak which resulted in the dealership stating we need a new engine for $13,500. Cylinders were filled with oil and car was not drivable. This is relevant to the ongoing class action lawsuit for EcoBoost engines. We are 3 weeks past our 5-year warranty and were told we are out of luck. Ford is not accepting any responsibility and won’t even provide a loaner vehicle considering we are 3 weeks past warranty. Should have gotten a Toyota.

Service center diagnosed my check engine light ON resulting to coolant leaking into cylinder. Determined to be TSB 22-2229 and need to apply engine long block replacement for coolant intrusion. Reporting this issue to NHTSA before having it fixed because based from this public forum, multiple Ford owners encounter the same issue and might be considered for recall. Ford Escape coolant intrusion TSB. Car has been running rough, check engine light came on. Called dealership and didn't get a return call. Took it in next day and the light wasn't on. They told me the mechanic saw the coolant leak and know about this problem, but since my light wasn't on they can't do anything about it. They said I'll need a new engine. This should be a recall since I now see class actin lawsuits starting for this issue.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The cylinder warped. With this cylinder failure, I would have to replace the engine. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If I continue to drive this car without replacing the engine which could affect my ability to brake safely in an emergency. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The Ford Forum and the Ford Dealership states this is a regular problem with this 2019 Ford Escape with the 1.5 liter engine. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The 2019 Ford Escape has been regularly serviced and inspected almost entirely by a Ford Dealership. My car has 113,000 miles. I bought the car brand new. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other...

Vehicle had check engine light come on. Took it to the Ford dealer and was told it needed a tuneup. They put in new spark plugs and it did not solve the problem. I took it to an independent mechanic, he scanned it and determined the head gasket was leaking. Looked on the internet to find this is a fairly common problem with the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. The vehicle has not been fixed. Checking to see if there is any recall on this particular vehicle.05

Vehicle started to idle oddly on startup. Then a few days later it started to vibrate or cavitate. Check engine light came on. Scheduled for service. Service as of today 05/31/2024, coolant has leaked into engine, engine needs replaced according to service provider. Brought this issue up in 2022 to service after seeing the NHTSA customer service bulletin. My mfr date was out of the listed date range so nothing was done or checked.

The engine fault service soon message came on so we took it to Griffifth Ford in San Marcos, Texas where they diagnosed the problem and said it was cooler intrusion in to cylinder #2..they said it needs a new longblock. Car has 100384 miles and we had the same issue back in August of 2020 where Ford replaced the motor at 20k miles. Ford wouldn't help this time and said I have to pay around $10k to fix it.

My car overheated out of the blue. It was diagnosed as a head gasket leak. Apparently this is a known issue with the 1.5 liter turbo eco boast 2019 but the recall does not start until 2020. This needs to be re evaluated as this is not ok and needs to be recalled!

While driving on the highway, the engine suddenly started sputtering, and it could no longer maintain speed (up to about 25-30 mph). This was very unsafe on a highway no safe place to bring the car to a stop. The Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as coolant leaking into the cylinders in the engine because of cracked channels. They shared with me this is a known issue (Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12), however, my car is 3 thousand miles over the maximum limit of this program, so they will not fix the problem for free. The dealership suggested a full engine replacement, for which they estimated about $9,800 for the repair. This issue comes after a previous issue a few months ago where my wife was driving and the engine overheated, went into "safe mode," and she was unable to accelerate beyond about 10-15 mph. She was on a busy road...

The vehicle went from normal operating temperature to max temperature on the gauge in a matter of seconds and triggered a vehicle overheat warning message. The vehicle was consuming coolant and has the issue described in TSB 20-2100. Coolant was leaking into the cylinders and hot exhaust gas was leaking into the coolant, which quickly caused the engine to rapidly overheat to an extreme temperature. The extreme engine temperature could have caused a fire.

The check engine light would come on at high RPMs and the car would begin to shake violently. I would generally pull over and turn off the engine in order to stop if from misfiring. This occurred after an engine replacement in the vehicle. The engine now has a crack in it and the short block needs replacing. This is the second time I am in need of an engine replacement in 90k miles on the vehicle. The cylinders continue to intermitently misfire and the engine leaks oil. The first time is needed replacing the engine overheated and told me to pull over when I was driving. The next day the engine would not start.

My engine has randomly shut off in the middle of driving. I have taken it to the dealership to be serviced two times. The first time they thought they fixed the issue. But it didn’t work. The second time they couldn’t find anything wrong. Our safety is 100% at risk as it happens in the middle of driving. I have a one and two year old who have been in the car every time it has happened. We have luckily been able to get off the highway each time, but I drive across a 25 minute bridge twice a day to work and back home with my children..across water! My service light has only come on the time they were able to fix something, which again did not fix the problem. But I do get the same message each time on my dashboard that says auto start stop needs to...

The car started having shifting problems. An hour later, we got an error message in our display saying "transmission failure" and to stop immediately. We stopped and called to be towed. Luckily we were not on highway. Should we have been in a heavy traffic, we could have gotten into a situation, where the car wouldn't be steerable while driving. The repair shop told us first that the flywheel was gone. A week later they told us, that the transmission must be replaced too. It looks like we will be without our car for months.

The vehicle was running then a warning stated stop safety. It started slowing down on its own with vehicles behind me. Luckily I was able to get to safety with out and accident. This started in May. The temperature control went to hot. It was taken to Ford and a diagnostic was performed. It had fault codesP0217, I P0302, P0303, P0316, and P1285. l found out that it is a coolant leak problem and it will overheat. I need a motor or another vehicle. I was told I will continue to have issues with this vehicle with that problem Since May, the vehicle had to be towed two times and it is still the same issues.

This vehicle has the 1.5L turbo engine and 64,xxx miles on it. Recently there has been large amounts of smoke come out of the exhaust after the car sits for several hours at a time. There are not any service/check engine lights on, however I feel as if it is only a matter of time before something bad happens to this vehicle. I have owned it since it was brand new and this is the only issue that has happened with this car. This is my wife's daily driver and with two kids and one on the way this could cause issues at a very bad time.

I was not informed of a safety recall prior to purchasing the vehicle in August of 2022. I was told there were no recalls on it. In addition to that when I brought up my complaint with the dealership they stated they did not see the repair in there system and it was most likely due to them not updating it after a repair. I am enquiring about a failure to disclose claim and if the dealership was required to do that prior to my purchase. In addition to this, there was a coolant leak in my vehicle that leaked all over the engined and was causing it to misfire violently.
#11532326 |

My 2019 Ford Escape has had engine coolant leak into the #2 cylinder and has caused engine damage and I am being told that the engine needs to be replaced. I have questioned Ford and the dealership has confirmed this damage and I am being told that Ford will not assist in replacing the engine. The vehicle has 81100 miles and in looking at other complaints this is an ongoing issues with these vehicles over several years. I would like to have Ford pay to have the engine replaced as this should be a recall condition due to ongoing issues.
#11520853 |
I have had this car for a year and a half and it only has 38000 miles on it. The check engine light has come on numerous times, and has been fixed 3 times. Yesterday I got an a,eat that it was overheating so I limped home and had it fixed again. There was no coolant in the engine and from the reviews I am reading apparently this is a known issue with this vehicle. This needs to be a recall by Ford! I’m going to have it fixed one more time then sell it as it’s not safe to drive! No excuse for such shoddy workmanship by Ford. I’ll stick to Honda or Toyota from here on out.
#11516926 |
My check engine light came on in my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium Sport Utility 4D. I took it to the Ford Dealership to have it checked out. They informed me that the engine had coolant in it and that the entire engine would need replaced. They informed me that the car was not safe to drive, that it was out of coolant and could over heat and even potentially catch fire. They then informed me that there was already a technical service bulletin from Ford about this issue. This is a known issue for this car and Ford has not put out a safety recall. This could had significant potential to put myself and my children at risk.
