Recall 17V695000 — EXTERIOR LIGHTING

| 1,598 vehicles affected

Defect: Entegra Coach (Entegra) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Aspire, Anthem, Cornerstone, and Insignia motorhomes. The vehicles have lights that do not include reflectors and the vehicle does not have separate reflectors. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: Without the required reflectors, the motorhome may be less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Entegra will notify owners, and dealers will install compliant reflectors, free of charge. The recall began on January 2, 2018. Owners may contact Entegra customer service at 1-800-945-4787. Entegra's number for this recall is 9903363.

The contact owns a 2016 Entegra Anthem Motorhome. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V761000 (Equipment) and the RV was taken to the dealer for recall repair. The dealer replaced the Tempurpedic Sealy Mattress with a new Sleep Number Mattress; however, the dealer advised the contact that there was a piece missing from the new Sleep Number Mattress. The contact also noticed that the mattress was deflated because the plug was too small and would disconnect whenever she opened and closed the slide outs. The contact stated upon arriving to her residence, she noticed that the mattress was deflated on one side and could not retain air after she had refilled it with air several times. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The mattress was not replaced. The RV failure mileage was approximately 34,000. The mattress was not replaced.

The DEF head unit failed on our Anthem and left us stranded on the road. These DEF heads are failing on diesel motorhomes across the country putting consumers in often dangerous situations along the nations highways. Shaw Industries is the sole provider for Spartan Chassis emission systems. We like many we had to wait weeks to get a new one. We had to buy a 5th generation DEF head and these are the ones that fail the most. The 7th generation which supposedly is the only reliable DEF head won’t work on our 2016 Anthem. Now we run the risk of another failure and being stranded possibly 1000’s of miles from home. Shaw Industries and Spartan have no accountability or legal reason to be held financially liable since RV’s don’t fall under the automobile industries US code compliance. The EPA and NHSTA needs to get this issue resolved ASAP. My 45 ft motor coach is a very large truck in which I pay ridiculous license fees to keep it on the road. This DEF head supplier has got to be held to the same reliability standards as the auto industry. If not then you should demand a recall on these units at Shaw Industries cost for replacement or reimbursement to owners who spent upwards of $1000+ to fix this issue. Please address this issue so diesel vehicle owners can enjoy the same protections we do for our gas vehicles. Thank you , Mike Arnold

DEF Head failure, SPN 1761, FMI 3. Bad tank level sensor, will cause derate of engine performance/speed/rpm in an unknow future time period. Will take the unit down to 5 mph with little notice. During this time the DEF pump and after treatment process is continuing with no environmental effects, this is only a tank level sensor failure, but the engine forces an eventual shutdown. At this time the tank level sensor is not a replaceable item, the whole DEF Head must be replaced at close to $1000. and now there is a national supply shortage of the unit.
