TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE REAR TIRES CONSTANTLY VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHERWOOD AUTOMOTIVE (1915 N SALISBURY BLVD, SALISBURY, MD 21801, (410) 548-4600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIE ROD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIE ROD WAS LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE RAM 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING A THREE POINT TURN, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WHEELS WERE FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AS A RESULT OF A FRACTURED TIE ROD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE TIE ROD FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE TIE ROD, STEERING STABILIZER AND SWAY BAR BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V350000 (STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000. UPDATED 8/17/12 *CN UPDATED 08/21/12
AS WIFE WAS BACKING INTO DRIVEWAY WITH STEERING WHEEL CRANKED TO THE LEFT, THE OUTER LEFT TIE ROD END FAILED, AND SHEERED OFF AT THE PIN THEN LODGED BETWEEN THE CALIPER AND WHEEL BREAKING THE WHEEL AND BENDING THE BACKING PLATE. THIS PROBLEM MATCHES EXACTLY AN EXISTING RECALL FOR NEWER MODEL DODGE TRUCKS (NHTSA ID # 11V350000, ACTION # PE11009). IT IS SCARY TO THINK IF THIS HAD HAPPENED AT SPEED, READING THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE ROLLED OFF OF THE ROAD INTO DITCHES AND EVEN A RIVER. MY VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY WAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR STEERING AND PARTS WERE REPLACED WITH THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE RAM 2500 MEGA CAB 4X4. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY AND THE TIRES BEGAN TO SQUEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FRACTURED TIE ROD. THE DEALER PERFORMED THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 148,000.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.

I OWN A 2006 DODGE RAM 2500 THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY A RECALL ON 2008 MODEL TRUCKS. THE RECALL NUMBER FROM CHRYSLER IS H36 AND THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER IS 09V005000. I JUST TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR INSPECTION AND THIS JOINT ON THE PITMAN ARM FAILED FOR TOO MUCH PLAY. WE CALLED TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART AND WERE TOLD IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE PART HAS BEEN REDESIGNED. YOU NOW HAVE TO REPLACE MULTIPLE COMPONENTS BECAUSE OF THIS REDESIGN WHICH WAS INITIATED FROM THE RECALL FOR 2008 TRUCKS AND IT WILL COST YOU APPROXIMATELY $550 FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. IT WILL COST YOU THIS JUST FOR PARTS, IF YOU TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY TRUCK HAS 50,170 MILES ON IT WHICH IS OVER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY $600+ BECAUSE ONE JOINT IS BAD. IF THESE PARTS...
