FIRST I NOTICED A TICK IN THE ENGINE WHEN STARTING IT COLD. TURNED OUT TO BE BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS AND CRACKED MANIFOLDS ON BOTH SIDES. PASSENGER SIDE WAS WORSE. WAS REPLACED WITH GRADE 8 BOLTS AND NEW MANIFOLDS AND GASKETS. NOW I HAVE A DIAGNOSED LIFTER FAILURE AT 58,000 MILES AND IT IS ONLY GETTING LOUDER. IT HONESTLY SOUNDS LIKE A SPUN CAM SEAL AND FLAT LIFTER IN MY EXPERIENCE. DODGE WILL NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM AS I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE OUT OF POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. MANY MORE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH LIFTER FAILURE. IT IS KNOCKING HARD. THIS IS THE DESCRIBED "HEMI" TICK. THE CAMSHAFTS AND LIFTERS ARE LOW GRADE MATERIAL IN THIS MODEL. I HAVE REPORTS OF DIAGNOSIS IF NEEDED.
THE TRUCK TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. DUE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DURING NIGHT OR DAY. SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD CAUSE A SHORT. MY TRUCK ISN'T THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES IT I SPOKE TO OTHER DODGE OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM
ROCKING NOISE AT IDLE AND WHEN DRIVING DOESN'T GO AWAY WHEN WARMED UP
MY TRUCK WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START SOMETIMES AFTER BEING PARKED FOR A WHILE. I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN FROM THE HUMIDITY. IT WILL CRANK AND NOT START A COUPLE OF TIMES MORE OFTEN NOW. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY SOMETIMES, IT WILL SPUTTER FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN FROM HAVING A LITTLE WATER IN THE GASOLINE FROM THE ETHANOL. I'VE BEEN USING FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER AND SEAFOAM EVERY SO OFTEN SINCE 2014. THE TRUCK IS 6 YEARS OLD. I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT HOW OTHERS HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY GOING BAD ON THE SAME YEAR MODEL VEHICLE AND OTHER MAKE/MODELS BY DODGE.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE TODAY, THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT BEEPED ONCE AND THE ENGINE DIED. LUCKILY WE COASTED TO THE SIDE, THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK, WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN. STARTED WOULD ENGAGE. SOUNDS LIKE TIPM TROUBLE. SPENTS $200 BEING TOWED HOME 75 MILES
THE MANIFOLD STUD BOLTS ARE BREAKING OFF IN THE HEAD MOST COMMONLY WITH 7 AND 8 CYLINDER...CAUSE A HORRUBLE EXHAUST LEAK AND CAUSING THE MANIFOLD TO WORP AND CRACK

ALSO, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO FUNCTION AGAIN AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (ACADEMY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AT 5080 ACADEMY LN, BESSEMER, AL 35022, (205) 545-8052) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
"TAKATA RECALL " FIRST BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN 2015. 2ND DAY I HAD IT ALMOST COUGHT ON FIRE 78000 MILES SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE BATTERY. 2017 99000 MILES LIFTERS ARE TICKING AND IT DOESN'T WANT TO START IT FREAKS OUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IF YOU TRY AND START IT ALL THE LIGHTS FLASH THEN IT'S GOOD FOR A MONTH
MY ENGINE HAS 99, 800 MILES AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE DODGE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT MY CAM SHAFT AND MY LIFTER WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACING. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY PRE-MATURE FAILURE.
AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER UNDER DASH WENT OUT AT ABOUT 85,000 MILES. AT 105,000 MILES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS AND ALL 3 FOUND NUMBER 5 CYLINDER OF MY 5.7 CYLINDER ENGINE WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. AFTER DEEPER INVESTIGATION IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WORN CAMSHAFT LOBE. ALL OIL CHANGES WERE DONE AT PROPER INTERVALS AND USED SYNTHETIC OILS. MECHANIC SAID IT WAS COMMON WITH THE 5.7 ENGINE.
ENGINE GOING DEAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE CAR IS MOVING THEREFORE STEERING IS LOCKED. HAS ,HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE @ 70 MPH, CITY STREET @ 30 - 40 MPH AND COUNTY ROAD @ APPX 10 MPH. LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS NO RECALL NOTIFICATION NOR CAN THEY IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. WE CANNOT FIND RECALL NOTIFICATION ON THIS WEBSITE.

UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED FLUID ON THE ENGINE AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CHECK ENGINE, COOLANT, AND SERVICE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE WIRING MELTED. THE ROOT CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,669.
THE TRUCK BURNS THROUGH OIL AT A HIGH RATE AND AFTER IT DOES THEIR IS NO LOW OIL LIGHT BEING TURNED ON BY THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK RAN HOT AND MADE THE CAM POSITION SENSOR FAIL. I AM AFRAID IT WILL BURN EVEN MORE AND CAUSE PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE AND SENSOR FAILURE WHICH IS NOT COVER BY WARRANTIES. THE LAST TIME IN A MONTH IT BURNED THROUGH 4 QUARTS, THE DEALER SAID IF THEY DO NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG THEY WOULD CHARGE ME A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. I HAVE HAD MANY OLD DODGE TRUCKS AND EVEN A 2007 RAM WHICH ALWAYS HAD OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND THAT NEVER BURNED THROUGH SO MUCH OIL. THIS HAPPENS AS I DRIVE AND NEVER ONCE DOES IT SAY LOW OIL, THE ONLY REASON I FIGURED IT OUT IS I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINE AND OBSERVED THE OIL PRESSURE DROP DOWN TO 14PS ON THE TRUCKS...
MY TRUCK STARTED OUT WITH A DEAD BATTERY WHICH I REPLACED AND IT STARTED IN 9/16. AROUND 12/17/16 I WAS PARKED IN MY TRUCK TALKING TO MY NEIGHBOR WHEN I DECIDED TO TURNOFF TRUCK AND GET OUT OF TRUCK. SUFFERING FROM A VERY COMMON ISSUE OF EXHAUST MANIFOLD WARPAGE CAUSING LEAKS AND BROKEN BOLTS. THE LEAKS ARE ALLOWING EXHAUST TO ENTER THE PASSENGER CABIN WHICH IS CAUSING HEADACHES AND SLEEPINESS WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE TIPM OUR DODGE TRUCK IS FAULTY. IT HAS ISSUES STARTING, THE LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING, THE LIGHTS ON DASH COME ON, THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE OIL JUST DISAPPEARING, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. LIFTER FAILURE AND CYLINDER MISFIRE. LOUD ENGINE TICK WHICH IS CAUSED FROM FAILING LIFTER AND SPRING TO CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE CAM. COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE HEMI 5.7L. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE RAM TRUCK IT WOULD SUDDENLY DIE, I WOULD NEED TO TURN THE IGNITION ALL THE WAY OFF AND IT WOULD RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. IT STOPPED AND HAS NOT RE-OCCURRED IN ALMOST 20,000 MILES. IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO A HIGH ENGINE REV FOR NO APPARENT REASON (LIKE I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL BUT I WAS NOT). EACH TIME THIS OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELLERATE AND I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL, I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED OF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT NORMALLY. IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY AFTER RESTART. I WAS DRIVING ALONG AT POSTED HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN MY ENGINE SUDDENLY FAILED AND LOST ALL POWER. AFTER RESEARCHING MULTIPLE FOURMS AND WEBSITE I FOUND ITS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG CHRYSLER VEHICLES. AFTER HAVING THE GAS PEDAL REPLACED A FEW MONTHS LATER, NOW 4/11/2013 THE ETC BOLT LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AT CITY SPEEDS AS I SLOWED FOR TRAFFIC , WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE TRUCK SPEED UP VERY FAST WITHOUT EVER USING CRUISE CONTROL OR TOUCHING THE GAS.
