2011 DODGE RAM 1500 Electrical System Problems

There are multiple electrical issues I’ve had to trouble shoot over the past 4 months. As I’ve researched other people with the same issues online, I’ve bee seeing a lot about some recalls pertaing to electrical issues and fuel issues and so I am wondering if there are prior recalls that I might need to have taken care of which I feel could fix my vehicle issues

I was driving my 2001 Dodge Ram 20-30mph and experienced a total power loss, power steering, power brakes and clock reset. My husband was also in the pickup and can attest to issue. I am an older person so had a very hard time stopping the vehicle and attempting to steer it to the side of the road. Traffic backed up behind me before I could put on my warning blinkers.Eventually, I turned off and on the pickup and everything worked somewhat normally but the vehicle went into limp mode. I got home, had the vehicle towed to the dealership. Driving my vehicle throughout December of 2024 and the vehicle would die and power back up, vehicle would run intermittently and fail to continue operating while driving to and from work. Vehicle intermittently stalling during driving would cause "Near Miss" accidents on the road. Potentially endangering myself as the operator and other operators on the road due to a "no start" issue and unsafe operating condition in the electrical system of the vehicle. I thought it was a bad battery so I replaced it with a brand new battery from the auto parts store While I struggled to have this matter resolved before leaving for Army Active Duty. my 2011 RAM 1500 5.7L has a Faulty TIPM. Fuel Pump cuts out, causing stalling and intermittent operation, starting vehicle becomes problematic while commuting. vehicle will sometimes not start at all and will remain stuck in an ignition loop. Continues to throw random check engine codes. I have had several near miss collisions while driving due to its unsafe condition I took the vehicle in to have a diagnostic done and a licensed Chrysler dealer deduced the vehicle has a faulty TIPM, which correlates to the mass recall on the 2011 RAM 1500 models However my VIN does not show its associated with the many models of 2011 RAM 1500 when I cross referenced this.

The gas tank fell onto the road while driving to pick up my daughter from the bus. I immediately pulled over due to the sound. I then saw the front of the gas tank on the ground , half a mile down the road I was traveling there are alot of pit holes and that could of ended in a fire or worse with my tank dragging the ground. I have taken it to the dealership that would help repair the recall but they have yet to repair or give me information about what the manufacturer has said on what to do. My truck first started having trouble starting .when driving engine it would shut-off at anytime making it dangerous to steer and breakdown in traffic. There was no fault codes or warning lights on dash . After doing testing I found that the fuel pump relay was shut-off. Tipm is faulty and all Chrysler that have this style of tipm should be added to recall . I purchased a external fuel pump relay harness to repair tipm.

THE DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES DOES NOT WORK SOMETIMES AND THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. WITHOUT THE GAUGES ITS HARD TO SAY HOW SLOW/FAST OR WHAT THE VEHICLE IS DOING. Failure to start. Engine cranks but will not start. Remote start fails. Door locks sometimes do not work, Radio failures, engine stalls unexpectedly, TPM failure, SERV 4WD warning light is displayed sporadically. This was a recall on 2011 and 2012 Chrysler vehicles except the RAM. The RAM also has the same issues as the other recalled vehicles. Why was the Ram excluded from the recall?

Ignition switch. There is an old recall on this switch but my trucks vin # was not included. I complained awhile back and still it was not added. 11373017. My switch needs to be recalled. I’m having the same exact problems originally reported. On more than one occasion I have almost gotten in an accident because of the keys falling out and getting jammed underneath the gas pedal.

The contact stated that upon retrieving items from the storage compartment underneath the rear passenger's side seat, he noticed that there was approximately 1-inch of water in the storage compartment and there was mold behind the rear passenger's side seat....

The contact owns a 2011 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to Meineke where it was diagnosed with a failed fuel pump. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed integrated power module (TIPM). The contact was informed that the TIPM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

My truck stalled on I26 in Johnson City; I was able to get to the shoulder and was able to get it started again, and it seemed to work ok. After that I started having issues with it not starting, but if I turned the key off, and tried again it would start. I searched the internet and found that the TIPM module in this model truck is the culprit for this issue and that there is a "work around that is sold on EBAY and other sites where the fuel pump relay is bypassed by using a wire and providing power to the fuel pump from the battery voltage of the ACC side of the switch. Last week I turned the truck off, and all electrical functions stopped working it was as if my battery was gone. After another internet search, this issue leads back to the TIPM module...

This issue has been experienced more than 5 times and only occurs while turning. While making both left and right hand turns, the steering wheel locks mid turn and the engine completely shuts off resulting in the inability to turn in any direction. The first time this happened, I almost went into a ditch and today as I turned to cross an intersection, I lost all steering control and the truck shut down mid turn in the middle of the intersection. This left the truck immobilized in the intersection and facing into oncoming traffic. Following each incident, I put the truck in park and restart it as if there was no issue. There are no warning lights that appear prior to any of the incidents that would indicate an issue and the instrument panel goes dark each time the issue occurs. TIPM... Integrated Fuel Pump Relay, intermittent condition causes the truck to stall this is a common complaint and a significant cost to repair. Vehicle hard starts and stalls several times during inclement weather / cold starts and is an active concern while driving the vehicle. Fuel pump relay bypass is the only affordable fix as the relay is connected directly to the TIPM. No warning lights indicate any failure. Vehicle has been to dealer but due to the intermittent condition it was not repeatable at that time. This condition was investigated in 2014 but continues to be a problem. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango both had recalls on this TIPM but due to the reporting statistics within NHTSA this vehicle was not included in the recall.

Cranks but don’t start at times. After doing lots of research I think the tipm is going out and will leave me stranded. Repair shop cannot find a problem

My truck has the same Fuse box assembly that several other dodge jeep vehicles have that the fuel pump relay shorts out while driving yet none of yalls recalls include my specific vehicle so that I can get my truck fixed under the multiple recalls yall have issued for this exact problem, dodge should be held liable for their mistakes not the consumers who are having to pay to fix the issue out of pocket simply because y'all didn't include our vehicles in the recall, my vehicle has shorted out many times almost causing us to nearly have multiple wrecks

The exhaust manifold cracked, the electrical system, supplying gas to the engine, is built into the fuse box, which is unfixable without replacing the entire fuse box. Valve on engine became extremely noisy and I’ve had to be replaced

RAM 1500 shuts off randomly. Many people on-line are showing this problem on multiple model years. The WIN module (ignition switch) contacts fail and causes the vehicle to shut down in the midst of driving. I've had it shut down on me 3 times at highway speeds. I've nearly been hit twice because the vehicle just shuts off as if I had turned the key off. It is a well documented issue.

With no warning the TIPM malfunctioned leaving my truck in a crank with no start scenario and stranded. Then my starter died trying to resolve. Starter replaced and mechanic found the TIPM fuel relay corroded and malfunctioning. Chrysler dealers tell me no new TIPM is available as far as they can search across Canada and they have no ETA when they expect availability of the part. So now I can’t even repair the truck? Every other 2011 Chrysler / Jeep / Dodge had been recalled for the EXACT same part back in 2014-2015 investigation. Why was the 2011 Ram truck excluded from this recall??? The vehicle's fuel pump continues to run even when the vehicle is turned off causing the overheating of electrical wiring and draining the battery, it's a serious issue and a fire hazard that will set the fuel tank on fire, I filed a complaint back in June and no action has been taken.

Car would not start fuel pump was the root cause. The replacement of the fuel pump did not fix starting problem. The issue ended up being the fuse to the fuel pump was not getting power. The current fix is a wire jumper from the cigarette lighter fuse to fuel pump fuse.

Wireless ignition node and key . Cave in will not work ,can not move truck stuck in park gear

In march/ 2020 my truck shut off 3xs going down the hwy with me and my kids in it . all without any warning. If I am driving and a lifter gives out and the vehicle shuts down then ANYTHING can happen at any speed. SO wtf are ya'll talking about this is not a safety concern? So if u want to get into how many people are in harms way if this fails we are talking about Thousands to Millions. AS THESE CARS GET OLDER WE WILL ONLY SEE THIS HAPPEN MORE OFTEN. Build a terrible product u need to get called out for the terrible design because u wee trying to screw people out of repair money by the terrible design. These companies should be sued out of existence. They dont care about the longevity of their product and should not be allowed to sell to AMERICANS.

Fuel Pump Relay inside the TPIM failed as did in the same unit that has been previously recalled in other vehicles.Chrysler Recall P54. Without warning the relay failed while hiking in the desert. I returned to a dead battery and a 17 mile hike back out to cell signal to get help. If this failure happened while driving down the road the results could have been a very deadly crash. Why is this part under recall on other vehicles and not this one? It is the same part!

THE VEHICLE STOPS UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A BUSY STREET AND HIGHWAY ALMOST GETTING INTO TWO ACCIDENTS WITH FAMILY MEMBERS IN MY VEHICLE

WHEN DRIVING FOR AN HOUR OR SO, ELECTRIC SYSTEM LIGHT GOES ON AND STAYS ON, LIKE RIGHT NOW. WHEN DRIVING ALSO FEELS LIKE TRUCK WILL DIE AND THEN PICKS UP AGAIN, THESE THINGS ARE WHEN TRUCK IS IN MOTION.

THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HAS SHORTED OUT THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND MELTS ALL WIRING IN THE AREA. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE WITH RAM IN THE 2011 YEARS. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THE TRANSMISSIONS START SHIFTING SUPER HARD INTO GEAR AND JERKS THE WHOLE TRUCK REALLY BAD.

MY 2011 RAM 1500 LARAMIE 4X4 WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT AND THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. THIS BATTERY WAS FIVE YEARS OLD, SO I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE VERY NEXT MORNING THE NEW BATTERY WAS DEAD. I CHARGED THE BATTERY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR TESTED, THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME THE ALTERNATOR WAS NOT CHARGING LIKE IT SHOULD, SO I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. I DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND FOR AN HOUR AND WENT BACK HOME. THE NEXT MORNING THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. I CAN DRIVE THE VEHICLE DURING THE DAY AND ALL WORKS WELL UNLESS IT IS PARKED FOR OVER 5 HOURS. THE BATTERY DRAINS DURING THAT TIME AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START UNLESS THE BATTERY IS CHARGED. I HAVE 2 ON GOING ISSUES WITH MY 2011 RAM 1500 OUTDOORSMAN 5.7 4X4 WITH RAM BOX. FIRST ISSUES: SHIFTIER DOESN'T LOCK AND SLIDE OUT OF GEAR OR PARK WITH OR WITHOUT KEY IN IGNITION. WHEN IN GEAR AND RUNNING AND READY TO PARK VEHICLE IT DOESN'T SEEM TO GO IN PARK MOST TIMES WHICH THEN CAN'T BE SHUTOFF OR KEY CAN NOT COME OUT OF IGNITION. THIS HAS BEEN ON ONGOING ISSUE. FIRST WOULD NOT START FINALLY AFTER TRYING SO MANY TIMES I JUST STARTED USING ANOTHER CAR AND I GOT THE FUEL PUMPED REPLACED THEN THE SAME ISSUE NOW THE AC UNIT WAS NOT WORKING SO I REPLACED IT 3 TIMES. WELL NOW IT STILL DOES NOT WORK AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT I JUST GIVE IT SOME TIME TO START NOW. ONLY WAY TO START VEHICLE.
