The contact also stated that the vehicle would not reverse whenever the pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the transmission needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 232,575.

VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING. IT GAVE CODE FOR BANK 2 KNOCK SENSOR AND OIL VISCOSITY WRONG. IT WOULD NOT START. NOTICED SMELL FROM UNDER PASSENGER SIDE. FOUND INSULATED HARNESSING IN PASSENGER SIDE HAD CAUGHT FIRE POSSIBLE DUE TO SHORT TO CHASSIS. WIRING WAS ALL IN OEM STATE, FOUND NO STANDOFFS PRESENT TO KEEP HARNESS OFF CHASSIS ON HORIZONTAL RUN, STANDIFFS ARE PRESENT IN VERTICAL RUN BY OIL FILTER. REPLACED SECTION OF HARNESS AND DOCUMENTED WITH PICTURES. THIS IS A HAZARD TO ALL DODGE OWNERS, FLAME IN VERY CLOSE PROXIMITY TO OIL FILTER. AFTER GETTING A BRAKE JOB I DROVE TRUCK ON FREEWAY WHEN THE BACK WHEELS LOCKED UP CAUSING SEVERE BOUNCING IN THE BACK END. WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 65MPH, MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF THE VEHICLE. I WAS INVOLVED IN A SOLO SPINOUT, ACCIDENT DUE TO THE WHEEL COMING OFF. THE CAUSE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE LOWER A-ARM OF THE SUSPENSION FAILING, AND LETTING THE BALL JOINT FALL OUT OF PLACE. WHEN THE WHEEL WAS RECOVERED FROM THE ACCIDENT, IT STILL HAD THE STABILIZERS ATTACHED, ALONG WITH THE BALL JOINT, AND VARIOUS PARTS OF THE STEERING, AND 4WD.
