DEALER KEEPS REFERRING TO DRIVEABILITY PROBLEMS SUGGESTING THAT SPARK PLUG WIRES, SPARK PLUGS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND SENSORS BE REPLACED. ALL THESE ITEMS WERE REPLACED AT CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE AND THE CAR STILL SHIFTS POORLY WITH POOR ACCELERATION. THIS IS ON A CAR THAT HAS BEEN LITERALY BABIED WITH ONLY HAVING 70,000 MILES ON IT IN 6 YEARS. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON THE INTREPIDS, CONCORDES, AND EAGLE TALONS ARE WELL KNOWN. WHY HAVEN'T THESE BEEN RECALLED?!! THERE ARE NUMEROUS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS CONCERNING THE POOR TRANSMISSION QUALITY AND PROBLEMS. ALSO A REVIEW OF DODGE'S SERVICE RECORDS WOULD SHOW THE HIGH RATE OF FAILURES ON TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE CARS.

THIS TO ME IS A VERY VERY DANGEROUS FAILURE, AS I WAS ON A MAIN HIGHWAY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED CAUSING IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY OCCURRED ON THE CAPITAL BELTWAY THAT I WAS APPROACHING, WHERE VEHICLES ROUTINELY TRAVEL 55+ MPH. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY OWN SAFETY AND THAT OF MY SPOUSE/CHILDREN SHOULD THIS FAILURE HAPPEN AGAIN, AND OF COURSE I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE WELFARE OF OTHERS. THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS CAR MALFUNCTIONS AFTER THE CAR IS DRIVEN OVER 50 MILES NON-STOP. AFTER THE VEHICLE IS ALLOWED TO COOL IT FUNCTIONS NORMALLY.
