FIREWALL CRACKED, CAUSING UNIT BODY CONSTRUCTION TO MOVE OUT OF PLACE.*AK

THE REAR LATERAL LINK HOLDS THE REAR WHEEL IN ALIGNMENT. IT HAS TWO BUSHINGS ON EACH END AND AN ADJUSTMENT THREAD IN THE CENTER. THE TUBING THE BUSHING MOUNTS IN SPLIT THUS RENDERING THE CAR VERY UNSTABLE EVEN AT 25 MPH. MY WIFE WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS OCCURED. THE TUBE THAT SPLIT OPEN IS ROLLED IN ITS CONSTRUCTION. HOWEVER, THE SEAM DID NOT BREAK, AND THE WELD DID NOT BREAK RATHER THE TUBE SPLIT JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WELD AREA. THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THIS PART OR ANY RELATED SUSPENSION COMPONENT. IT JUST FAILED UNDER NORMAL USE. I UNDERSTAND THAT PARTS WEAR OUT, BUT THIS ITEM ONLY CONTAINED A WEARABLE PART AND IN AND OF IT SELF SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. HAD MY WIFE REACHED FREEWAY SPEEDS WHEN IT FAILED THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTEROUS! I HAVE A PICTURE OF THIS FAILED...

TRANSMISSION FAILURES (2) SINCE 1994, REBUILT IN 1996. AIR CONDITIONER FAILURES (2) SINCE 1994 COMPRESSOR REPLACED 1999. ENGINE REMOVED SO THE FIREWALL CRACK(S) COULD BE WELDED FROM DEFECTIVE ORIGINAL WELDING, APPARENTLY WAS AFFECTING THE RACK N PINION STEERING.
