VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH IGNITION SWITCH, SOMETIMES AS SOON AS I START THE CAR THEN ENGINE WILL DIE. I THOUGHT INITIALLY THAT I WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG AND I LET IT PASS BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE IS NOT HEAVILY USED, BUT STARTED SEEING ONLINE THAT PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. I TRIED SWITCHING KEYFOBS BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. FORTUNATELY, I'VE NEVER HAD THE ENGINE DIE ON ME WHILE DRIVING, BUT SEEMS LIKE IT COULD HAPPEN. I NOW HAVE REMOVED EVERYTHING FROM MY KEY CHAIN FOR THIS CAR AND BASICALLY DRIVE THE CAR WITH ONLY A VERY LIGHT KEY RING ATTACHED TO THE KEY. I ALSO HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED SINCE THE RECALL NOTICE CAME TO ME. THAT WAS LAST YEAR! I'VE REPEATEDLY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS FOR THIS RECALL. CAR DOES NOT START IMMEDIATELY DUE TO IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN ON RECALL SINCE NOVEMBER 2014. PART STILL NOT IN. CURRENTLY ON BACK ORDER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CHARGER. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE IN A DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 15V313000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THAT A INVESTIGATOR WOULD BE ASSIGNED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY WIFE HAD PARKED THE CAR AFTER DRIVING IT 5 MILES, IT WOULD NOT RESTART WE SENT IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE ALSO COULD GET IT TO START AFTER THEY CHECKED IT ON THE COMPUTER THEY TORE DOWN THE ENGINE TO FIND THE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER CRUMBLED SENDING METAL PARTS ALL THROUGH THE ENGINE. MY WIFE USED THE CAR FOR HER JOB CLEANING CONDO'S, SHE OWNS THE BUSINESS SO SHE DOES A LOT OF SHORT RUNS TO VARIOUS LOCATIONS, NOT HIGH SPEED OR EVEN HIGHWAYS. HE SENT US THE PICTURE, WE HAVE BEEN USING TUFFY'S FOR A WHILE AS OUR MAIN REPAIR SHOP FOR OUR OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL. YOU COULD SEE THE RIM OF PISTON 4 WAS 3/4 GONE.
UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ON 01/31/2015 THE FIRST INCIDENT WHERE THE VEHICLE JUST CUT OFF WHEN I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT HAPPENED ON 02/13/2015 AND THEN NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER THAT, I WAS ABLE TO CRANK THE CAR BACK UP AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, THAT THE VEHICLE ISNT RECEIVING POWER TO THE ENGINE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY ON 09/02/15. I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND THAT OF MY PATIENTS, MY JOB REQUIRES THAT I TRAVEL FROM CITY TO CITY RECEIVING PATIENT CARE, THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE AT THE MOMENT AND CANNOT AFFORD MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON ANOTHER VEHICLE. IN NOVEMBER OF 2014 I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR P57 WHICH IS THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE MODULE STATING THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AND I WOULD BE NOTIFIED AS SOON AS THEY BECAME AVAILABLE. I RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE IN FEBRUARY OF 2015 AT WHICH TIME I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE CURRENTLY NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. SOMETIME DURING THE MIDDLE OF MARCH I WAS TURNING RIGHT ONTO A 5 LINE HIGHWAY WHEN I LOST ALL POWER TO MY VEHICLE. AS I TRIED TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND OUT OF TRAFFIC THE POWER RESTORED ON IT'S OWN. THIS SAME POWER LOST HAS OCCURRED ONCE MORE SINCE MARCH. I HAVE CONTINUED TO CHECK WITH MY LOCAL DEALER BUT NO PARTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE. FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS I HAVE HAD SIGNIFICANT TROUBLE GETTING THE VEHICLE TO START. WHEN I PLACE...
ENGINE COOLING FAN BECAME SEPARATED FROM FAN HOUSING AND BECAME LODGED IN RADIATOR. THE FAN CONTINUED TURNING, CAUSING RADIATOR FAN BLADES TO BREAK OFF AND BOUNCE AROUND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE RADIATOR DUMPED ALL COOLANT, AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED WITHIN MOMENTS. DODGE HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR A VERY SPECIFIC SALES CODE AND DATE RANGE OF VEHICLES, AND IS DENYING THE SAME RECALL TO OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED, ANOTHER DODGE CHARGER OF THE SAME YEAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. PICTURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN OF THE INCIDENT SHOWING THE FULL EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE.
ON JULY 8 .2015 AT 2PM WHILE DRIVING MY 08 CHARGER I STARTED TO SEE SMOKE, COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, ALSO NOTICED THE TEMPGAGE , IN THE RED , PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF ENGINE, I LET IT COOL DOWN, FOR SEVERAL HOURS , W NOT START , HAD TO HAVE MY CHARGER TOWED TO SHOP! CONTACTED DODGE!

THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR AND THE FAN BLADES DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY STALLS OUT, IT CAN HAPPEN ONCE AND NOT AGAIN FOR 4 OR 5 MONTHS OR IT CAN HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. CAR RANDOMLY BEGAN TO SHUT OFF RIGHT AFTER STARTING OR SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING. IT GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT SHUT OFF AND IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. I TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE IGNITION MODULE AND KEY FOB ALSO NEED TO REPROGRAM. THE TOTAL CAME UP TO $ 696.18. TWO YEARS WENT BY AND IT WAS WORKING OK UNTIL ONE DAY AGAIN, RANDOMLY BEGAN TO SHUT OFF RIGHT AFTER STARTING OR SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING. IS THIS ISSUE RELATED TO THE CHRYSLER IGNITION RECALL? I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STREET WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. I PULLED OVER AND FOUND OUT THE MY COOLING FAN HAD BROKEN OFF SENDING THE BLADES INTO MY RADIATOR CAUSING THE SYSTEM TO LOSE COOLANT. I SPENT OVER 400 DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT I READ AND I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSE FOR THE COAT OF THE REPAIRS AND HAVE CHRYSLER PERFORM A CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DAMAGES IT MIGHT OF CAUSED. *JS
I WAS DRIVING AND STOP TO GET FEW THINGS FROM STORE, LEFT CAR RUNNING AND NOTICE WIRED NOISE LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE CAR, I WALK OUT AND CHECK FOR VISUAL DAMAGE AND NOTICE ANTIFREEZE LEAK OUT. ACCORDING TO DODGE FORUM THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECALLED ON SOME SAME VEHICLES (2008 CHARGERS) BUT MINE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED OR NOTIFIED THAT THIS COULD OCCUR. FORTUNATELY THE CAR WAS AT IDLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. NO INJURY OCCURRED. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT OR PART FAILURE AND OWNERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR TOWING AND REPAIR. *TR

I RECENTLY BEEN DRIVING (CHARGER)TO WORK BECAUSE MY OTHER CAR WAS IN THE SHOP SO I WAS LEAVING WORK ONE DAY AND I HEAR A NOISE THAT WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR I HAD IT TOWED SO I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD MY IT WAS A ROD AND I SAID WAS THAT AND HOW DID THAT COULD OF HAPPEN THEY EXPLAIN TO ME SO THAN I TOOK IT TO TWO MORE SHOP AND EVERYBODY SAID THE SAME THING THAT MY VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAIN AND THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE SHUT OFF/STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING OR MAKING A STOP. MANY OTHER PEOPLE OWNING DODGE CARS, CHARGER, CHALLENGER, AND SOME OTHER MODELS HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR YEARS. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 4 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2012, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE BRAKING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN THE CAR STALLED COMPLETELY ALL MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON I HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE ENGINE. SECOND TIME I WAS DOING BOUT 40MPH IN A LOCAL ROAD WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT OFF FOR NO REASON, SAME THING DASH LIGHTS CAME ON I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS FROM DODGE OWNERS OF THIS MODELS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND DODGE ISN'T DOING NOTHING BOUT IT EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM THE PUBLIC. THEY PROBABLY WAITING...
WAS PULLING INTO A GAS STATION AND THE ENGINE STALLED. WENT TO START IT AND WOULD NOT START HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE STARTER. AS SOON AS IT STARTED UP THERE WAS A KNOCK ON THE ENGINE. AS THE MECHANIC CLAIMED IT'S "ROD KNOCK" AND CLAIMED THAT THE OIL WAS NEVER REPLACE. THE PLACE THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM DID THE OIL CHANGE AND HAVE PROOF THEY DID IT. THE ENGINE RAN FINE BEFORE HAND AND NO LONGER OPERATES CORRECTLY. *TR

I STOPPED MY DODGE CHARGER IN THE GAS STATION PARKING LOT. I JUST FINISHED WASHING MY CHARGER AND WAS ON MY WAY TO A CAR SHOW. ON JUNE 21ST OF 2012, WHILE MY CAR WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT RUNNING WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR, MY A/C WAS RUNNING TO KEEP THEM COOL. IT WAS OVER 100* OUTSIDE AND MY KIDS NEEDED TO STAY COOL. I WAS OUT OF MY CAR FOR A MATTER OF MINUTES AND I HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND. AS I TURNED TO MY CAR, I SAW A LARGE POOL OF ANTIFREEZE UNDER MY CAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH A LOUD POPPING AND BANGING NOISE EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE FAN ASSEMBLY AND RADIATOR BOTH FRACTURED AS A RESULT OF A LARGE AMOUNT OF ANTIFREEZE LEAKAGE. IN ADDITION, STEAM EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC POWER COOLING FAN. THE REFERENCE WAS NUMBER L08. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.
IGNITION MODULATOR SWITCH SHUT THE CAR COMPLETLY DOWN AS THE WAS COMING TO A STOP THIS PART ATTACHES INTO THE COMPUTER AND CAN GO AT ANYTIME EVEN WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE CHECKED WITH DEALERSHIPS FROM NJ AS FAR AS MO AFTER THEY CHECK THE DATABASE IN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT I GET THE SAME ANSWER NO PART IN STOCK. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. NO LIGHTS CAME ON PRIOR TO THIS. I PULLED OVER AND IT STARTED BACK. ON CHRISTMAS EVE, DECEMBER 24TH 2012 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:45 IN THE AFTERNOON I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 DODGE CHARGER ON A BUSY INTERSECTION WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE FROM MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
