The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving and attempting to slow down to approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact believed that the sound was caused by ice buildup on the mud flap, but shortly afterwards, the engine revved unexpectedly, with the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message “Reduce Acceleration - Drive with Care” was displayed. The vehicle started to coast unintendedly. The contact stated the vehicle returned to normal operation after a short while. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanics pushed the vehicle out of the parking spot before inspecting the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed with transmission valve body failure. The contact was informed that the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the...

2021 tahoe with 3.0L diesel engine and 139k miles recently began overheating when on interstate but temp would jump up quickly then quickly back down. Reduced acceleration mode is triggered and AC is turned off automatically. Diagnostic report shows coolant control valve error code and it was explained to me that valve is sticking then as engine pressure rises, it knocks it loose again explaining the quickly jumps and dips in temp. Fan runs constantly from moment it is started too. When looking for the part online to get an idea of repair cost, there was a bulletin about this being a known issue in the 2021 tahoes with the diesel engines and bulletin states GM extended special coverage for 15yrs/150k miles. When I called dealer to schedule service, I was told this bulletin doesnt come up under my vin number despite it having the same issues, error codes, year,...

* Sudden Catastrophic Engine Failure. * The car lost power in the middle of a high traffic, very dark country road, forcing her to stay in the middle of the (undivided) road in the dark hoping cars didn't slam into her. A Collin County Sheriff was dispatched to keep her safe until the tow truck arrived almost two hours later." * The vehicle was towed to a dealer where they confirmed that the torque converter, valves, lifters had failed. Dealer didn't disclose that there was any issues for these engines, which there is. It's a 6.2L V8 Tahoe High Country. * It has only been inspected by the dealer, not the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, etc... * The vehicle indicated a traction control problem, then the engine light came on, and then the engine failed followed by loss of power. All happened in rapid succession WITH NO OPPORTUNITY FOR THE...

This vehicle has experienced multiple substantial defects, several of which directly endangered my family, including an infant, and rendered the vehicle unsafe and inoperable for extended periods despite warranty repairs. Summary of defects and failures: 1.Electronic door locking failure The vehicle experienced an electronic malfunction that caused the doors to randomly lock, resulting in my infant being locked inside the vehicle when we exited. This wiring defect was later repaired under warranty but represents a serious safety failure. 2.Fuel pump recall and highway breakdown While driving my family of six on a major highway over an hour from home, the recalled fuel pump failed while in motion, leaving us stranded on the side of the highway. We were forced to arrange an Uber for transportation. This incident placed my family in a dangerous situation and constitutes a major safety-related defect. 3.Transmission failure and extended inoperability The vehicle suffered a transmission...

My Tahoe was making a loud noise, I took it to the dealer to look at it and they said I need to replace the rear driveshaft to the tune of $4000. I don't have $4000 to spend on this. This Tahoe is only 4 years old and was supposed to drive us to Minnesota next week for Christmas and now that is not possible. This is a known issue and a recall, but my VIN not included in that recall. How can this happen - you know it is a known issue in these cars! Power train Recall date 2022-01-27 Recall no. 22V036000 General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, and Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles. The rear wheel driveshaft assemblies may have internal components that were not heat-treated properly, possibly resulting in driveshaft failure. Recall consequence Driveshaft failure can...

Issue related to the rear-differential fluid, TSB 21-NA-028. Its a known issue where the rear differential make moan/chatter noises on turning (including at low speeds). Dealers are instructed to service/replace the rear differential fluid and perform procedures to address clutch pack chatter. It is such an issue, the fluid to remedy this is on back order!

2021 Tahoe Z71 with 70000 miles making a roaring and whining noise on reverse and turning, especially when cold. Took to shop and they changed the rear differential fluid. Now its worse. Needs a whole new rear end. This veicle is 4 years old and does not tow or use four wheel drive. The shop said there has been so many complaints and services on the same issue. Why is there not a recall on this yet? We spend $70,000 and up and expect a more quality vehicle without having to spend $4000 dollars on repairs.

Based on dealer inspection, oil was found sitting on top of the #2 piston, and you’ve indicated the failure is originating from the bottom end of the engine—likely involving piston, ring, or cylinder wall damage. Combined with the stored P050D, P0300, and P0302 codes, this represents a clear internal mechanical failure. Vehicle is currently at the dealership. Mechanical failure while driving the vehicle. Sensor light for service ESC and service traction control both showed as the failure was occurring.

While driving and turning left and right, and while cold and turning It does a grinding/groan noice, and recently while driving it did that, and It started losing speed and the grinding worsening and I was losing control of the vehicle. Putting the vehicle in Auto makes the groan/grind worse.

I am writing to formally document serious engine defects I have experienced with my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe equipped with the 5.3L L84 V8 engine. 1.Crankshaft Failure: My Tahoe suffered a catastrophic crankshaft failure that required major repair/replacement. I am aware that GM has recalled certain vehicles equipped with the 6.2L L87 engine for crankshaft and rod-bearing defects. Based on my experience, the same or a very similar defect has also occurred in my 5.3L engine, which is currently not included in that recall. 2.Valve Lifter Failure: In addition, my vehicle has suffered from valve lifter collapse—a well-documented problem in 2021–2022 GM trucks and SUVs with both the 5.3L and 6.2L engines. This caused severe misfiring, drivability issues, and expensive repair needs. Why this is a concern: •Both failures occurred well before what would be expected of a modern engine. •The crankshaft failure raises a safety risk: sudden loss of propulsion...

My 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe recently displayed a warning message that said “Service Transmission – May Not Be Able to Shift Soon.” The message appeared at approximately 132,754 miles. Since then, I’ve noticed delayed and rough shifting between gears. The vehicle still drives and shifts into gear, but the message and behavior are concerning. I have an appointment scheduled for a diagnostic inspection on Tuesday, which was the earliest available. I have not yet received a confirmed diagnosis, but I’ve seen that many other 2021 Tahoe's and similar GM vehicles have experienced the same transmission problem and were included in recalls. My vehicle’s symptoms match those reports, though my VIN was not included. This situation makes me nervous because I drive with my four children daily. Even though the vehicle hasn’t completely lost the ability to shift, a sudden failure while driving could put my family and others on the road...

On the morning of 1 Oct, I had left the house here in Cedartown GA to head to a meeting in Atlanta with a customer. I had started the truck 15 minutes before departing just as we have always done to our vehicles over the years to allow them to warm up properly. I departed Doyle Rd onto Hwy 27 South heading towards interstate 20. About 15 miles from the house I was at a steady cruise speed of 45 MPH, no traffic, acceleration or deceleration and the stability control system light came on, one second later the engine light came on and the engine all of a sudden started making a loud grinding and clunking noise. I was on the inside lane so let the car pass next to me and started to pull over onto the shoulder of the road. I immediately shut off the truck, popped the...

I have a 2021 Tahoe that while circling a parking lot at my son's football practice. The Tahoe's emergency came on and the Tahoe abruptly stopped. A checked engine light came on. The Tahoe wouldn't release the emergency brakes. I was finally able to get it released. I took the vehicle to a transmission shop because I plugged OBD scan tool on it. It had two transmission codes. One generic and one for the vavle body. The transmission shop said they have had lots of Tahoes with the vavle body's going out. They told me about N242454441. I called Chevrolet and they advised me that wasn't for my Tahoe. I asked why and they said they don't know. If this is effecting the desiel only models then why is mine doing the same thing. Parts cant be ordered either. Please look into this matter.

This is an amendment to campaign 11684444 as there is some inaccurate info as it pertains to the diagnostic- 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, Driving 25 MPH, in the neighborhood, my Tahoe kicked into neutral and abruptly stopped in the middle of the street. I immediately tried to restart it, however it would not start. After about 15 minutes, we tried again and it started enough to make it back to my in laws house, where it remains parked today. We did a diagnostic test and received the code for Fuel Pump Control Module failure. Contacted the Chevrolet dealership I bought my vehicle from and they indicated this is a common issue and the part is on back order. This is a very dangerous risk to safety and should be covered under a recall. I've seen where GMC issued a recall for the exact same issue, but only for Tahoes with 6.2L...

Rapid deceleration at 55mph on highway, followed by console message "reduced acceleration" with check engine light. Fortunately rolled into dealer within a mile. After analysis, they stated the transmission valve body and electronic control component needs replacement over $3,000. after tax. No warning signs prior. NTSB recall N24254441 covers only diesel engines not gas with same problem in 10 speed transmission.

The affected components are the electrical system, engine, and power train. In March 2025, my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe displayed multiple warning lamps across the dash, including traction control and check engine lights. The vehicle shifted erratically and sometimes entered limp mode. I brought the vehicle to AutoNation Chevrolet South Clearwater for inspection. The dealer replaced the battery, dismissed my concerns, and stated that a test drive was performed, but the mileage in and out on the invoice was identical, showing it never actually occurred. Diagnostic trouble codes (P0700, P0717, P2714, P2716, P0706, and multiple U-codes) were present but were not fully investigated. A GM Technical Service Bulletin (21-NA-149, December 2022) covers these exact symptoms (caused by engine wiring harness chafing), but it was never referenced or applied. Because the problem was not addressed, the condition worsened. By July 2025, the vehicle suffered a complete transmission failure. At that point, the...

The affected systems are the power train, engine, and electrical. My 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe experienced failures consistent with GM Technical Service Bulletin 21-NA-149 (engine wiring harness chafing) and the conditions outlined in Recall N232404190 (valve body failure, November 2024). Beginning in March 2025, the vehicle displayed warning lights and messages including Check Engine, Traction Control, Service Transmission, and limp mode (Reduced Acceleration – Drive with Care). The vehicle shifted erratically, lost power, and occasionally failed to accelerate, creating a serious safety hazard at highway speeds. These problems were documented at AutoNation Chevrolet South Clearwater, where multiple diagnostic trouble codes (P0700, P0717, P2714, P2716, P0706, and U-codes) were recorded but not properly investigated. No test drive was performed despite being claimed by the service technician, and the applicable TSB was not referenced. By July 2025, the condition worsened into a complete transmission failure, with additional codes (P0700, P077C, P17F6, P17FB, P1872)....

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe (VIN: [XXX] ) which has developed a severe transmission shudder at both low and highway speeds. The issue has been confirmed by my Chevrolet dealer, who provided an estimate of $5,492.18 for torque converter and valve body replacement. This failure is identical to the torque converter shudder problem documented in GM service bulletins and special coverage adjustments for other GM vehicles of the same make, model, and model year. However, my VIN is not currently included in those programs, leaving me without coverage despite experiencing the exact same defect. I believe this condition poses a serious safety risk, as the shudder occurs while driving at highway speeds, causing vibration, hesitation, and potential loss of control. These symptoms could lead to accidents if the vehicle fails to respond properly during acceleration or lane changes. Given that this appears to be a...

In May 2025, my 2021 Chevy Tahoe experienced transmission failure related to the valve body. The vehicle has now been at the dealership (Richard Chevrolet in Cheshire, CT) for over 2 months with no timeline for repair due to a national backorder on the part. This issue is widely reported among 2021 Tahoes and other GM vehicles, and appears to be a systemic transmission defect. I was never notified of any recall or service bulletin, and I’m still making monthly payments on a vehicle that is inoperable. The rental provided does not suit my family’s needs, and GM has been unable to offer a resolution or clear update. This type of critical drivability failure should be classified as a safety concern, especially considering the volume of similar complaints and the absence of repair parts. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue further and take action if warranted.

On 01/03/24, the vehicle stalled and smoked on the Suncoast Parkway. All dashboard warning lights and messages illuminated, and the vehicle entered emergency park mode. OnStar was contacted and the vehicle was towed to Jenkins Chevrolet in Homosassa, FL. The failure was linked to a broken pulley and belt system that damaged the ECM and wiring harness. No DTCs were pulled, and mileage in/out was 80042/80043—no test drive performed. On 08/06/24, the vehicle returned to Jenkins for a roaring noise. A pulley bearing was replaced, possibly related to the earlier failure. Again, no drivability evaluation or codes recorded. On 03/09/25, the same full system warning lights/messages appeared again. The vehicle experienced harsh shifting and delayed acceleration. It was taken to AutoNation Chevrolet South Clearwater on 03/10/25. DTCs (P0700, P0717, P2714, P2716, P0706, and U-codes) were found but dismissed. Only the battery was replaced. Mileage in/out was 99494—no test drive performed...

The contact was able to keep control of the vehicle and continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who completed the repair under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train). The contact stated that after the recall repair, while leaving the dealer and driving approximately 10 MPH, the vehicle veered off to the right and ended up partially in the next lane. The contact stated that the vehicle unintendedly shifted into neutral, and the message to "Press Start Again" was displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and parked the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove back to the dealer. Check Engine Light Came On. Upon Diagnosis', the engine is misfiring, lifters are not performing correctly and there are critical engine alerts and an estimate of 11,000 to fix. 2021 - 83,000 miles v8 - 5.3 NOT the 6.2 and no one will help me bc my power train expires. I am the only owner. Second brand new Tahoe ai bought from this dealership and they are doing nothing to help.

While traveling on the highway one day, my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe began warning lights on the dashboard. Shortly after, it running roughly,, and jerking, so I pulled over to investigate. There no visible smoke, so I drove to the nearest auto parts store, where they ran a diagnostic test that returned a code of P0306. I then took vehicle back to the dealership where have always received oil changes and repairs. I have never visited any other dealership, relying on certified GM/Chevrolet dealerships. After inspecting the vehicle, they informed me that the lifters needed replacement advised that it would be best to replace the engine entirely. Upon further research, I discovered that issue has been affecting many people in our area and across the United States. This needs to be addressed, as the vehicle is only three years old, purchased brand new with zero miles, and I have not done...

i have a 2021 Tahoe with 68,000 miles on it. On March 14 my transmission started slipping while driving. the RPM would rev up, the car would jerk forward and then the RPM would fall back down. did this to me 6 times while driving. i got my car home, called the dealership. went to drive it to the dealership and the car would no longer go in reverse. had to have the car towed to the dealership.

1st. While driving at highway speeds my vehicle disengaged from adaptive cruise control when no cars were in view of sensors. However, cars were behind me, making it a little scary. Happened once but I haven't had my vehicle to know if it would happen again. 2nd. Car has a vibration at speeds of 30 to 40 mph. Vehicle has literally been at dealership since February 10th, 2025 with no eta for valve body in sight.

My vehicle has a little over 15000 miles on it. On Thursday April 3rd, while driving 35 mph in town, my RPMs shot up to 4 and the vehicle would not respond to accelleration. A few seconds later the engine light appeared. I managed to get the vehicle home going no faster than 42 mph off and on. Upon arriving home I realized I had no reverse in the vehicle. I immediately called the dealership and was told to bring it in. They didn't look at it until the following Monday April 7th when they determined the Transmission Control Module went out. GM told them they "couldn't find that part anywhere". Thr vehicle still sits behind the dealership and GM has no answers and has already hinted that it may be at least 60 days. This is unacceptable.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the engine made knocking sounds. The message "Service Transmission" was displayed. The contact's husband pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle failed to restart immediately. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the camshaft retainer, valve tensioner kit, gaskets, seals, lifters, engine bolts, rods, and pipes; however, the "Service Transmission" message displayed again while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure, but the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 89,678.

I was driving along the highway at 11pm when I the vehicle started shaking and I heard strange sounds coming from outside the vehicle. I pulled over to inspect and realized it was coming from the engine bay. The engine was making knocking, rattling, and belt slipping noises and the entire vehicle was shaking and the engine also stuttering. I was able to drive the vehicle to a nearby plaza where I had it towed the following morning. There were no warning signs, the vehicle ran properly up until this occurred. The dealership inspected it and told me the engine needs to be replaced and it was likely that a rod bearing that went bad. This happened nearly 2 months ago and I am still waiting for a new engine.

I want to file a complaint on Chevy I have a high country, 2021, my dealership has had it for over 2 months, can't get the part to fix it - valve body- They have another one there, that's been there for 5 months, can't get the part. So, 2 Tahoes at same dealership, same problem, and can't get the part to fix. I have escalated to chevy, have a case number, chevy themselves can't get the part to fix my truck. But I still have to pay for it-big payment for something, I can't drive, isn't worth anything for trade and useless- I am furious. I have been a lifetime chevy owner-and this is changing my mind. Last nights communication with chevy escalation please read:  Dear STACEY,  We have the following update for your 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, case number [XXX].  We are still experiencing a delay on the part(s)...

Transmission control module failed. I was driving at about 40 mph on a 4 lane street and it begin to feel like something was pulling the steering wheel to the left and I could not control the speed. I then pulled off into a parking lot and was facing a drainage ditch and needed to back the car into a space out of the way, it would not go into reverse. My husband met with me and was able to drive it forward to drive it to a dealership. The diagnosis was a failed transmission control module that cost us $2,478.

Valve body for 10 speed transmission suddenly malfunctioned while driving on I-95 at 60mph causing rear wheels to lock up for couple of seconds. Then, Engine rpm went to 5000. Error message displayed"reduced acceleration, drive with care" and "Unable to shift soon, service transmission soon". Upon taking to dealer, service advisor mentioned that it could be valve body issue. which is very common for these vehicles. After diagnosis from dealer, there were two codes: P0770 and P0776. Upon some research it was found that these issues are indeed very common for 10speed GM transmission. But, GM hasn't done much to address it. GM acknowledged the issue in their Oct, 2023 bulletin. This is a safety issue especially at highway speeds.

Vehicle just lost propulsion and would not move. Engine was running but just came out of gear and went into neutral at 70mph. Pulled off highway and vehicle would not go back into drive. Would not go into any gear except park. After a while it went into drive and would not go over 30mph. Limped into a nearby dealership and dropped it off. It took GM 47 days to figure out the issue yet the new part was installed immediately. Some sort of computer calibration glitch and GM didn't know the answer till I threatened a lawsuit. Still not confident it was repaired correctly. Dealership was fine and informative but GM blew me off.

Engine failed while driving down the road. There was not prior warning signs to this issue. Vehicle was unable to accelerate. The safety of myself and husband were put a risk as we were traveling on an Interstate 12 in Baton Rouge, LA. The vehicle was inspected by Pine Belt Chevy and the cause identified as Camshaft and lifters failed in the engine causing a sudden deacceleration.

GM does not install TPMS devices in spare tires. I had a flat tire in snowy conditions 100+ miles from the nearest place for assistance. After putting on the spare tire the DIC (driver information center) displayed no air in tire. That’s because a TPMS doesn’t exist in spare tires. I started driving a my four wheel drive turned off. I turned it back on and after a very short distance it turned off again. Since the vehicle determined I didn’t have air in one of the tires (spare previously mentioned) the four wheel drive shouldn’t work to prevent damage. I needed the four wheel drive in the snow so I had to proceed at approximately 25 mph. This is a safety issue for not only my vehicle but others on the roadways. I contacted the dealer that had no idea about the problem and neither did the national GM...

Statement of Safety Issue for 2021 Tahoe Transmission Vehicle Information: Make and Model: 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe VIN: [XXX] Issue Description: I have been receiving the warning message "Service Transmission. Unable to Shift Soon." multiple times, specifically on [XXX] and again on [XXX]. This issue is particularly concerning as there is an existing recall on the 2021 Tahoe for a transmission problem that can cause the rear wheels to lock up or result in the vehicle suddenly losing the ability to shift, as explained by a GMC transmission technician. Attempts to Resolve: I have contacted multiple dealerships to attempt to get my transmission diagnosed. Unfortunately, all dealerships within my area are backed up with transmission work for 4-6 weeks. I have spoken to multiple dealership service departments and have been informed that there are numerous vehicles currently experiencing this same exact issue. Some vehicles are continuing to drive, while others are...

2 ISSUES - 1) vehicle repaired 5 times for "transmission" problem by replacing wiring harnesses. On 5th attempt, the GM factory part or the technician caused the Tahoe to catch fire. Worst part is that it happened 1 hour after test driving and parking the car at their dealership, thankfully, I would normally have driven it home and it would have destroyed my home too. GM investigated and was unable to determine cause. 2) each time the "transmission" error occurred the GM car went into what they call the "limp" mode. The car immediately loses speed control and drifts to about 35 mph until you have control of the accelerator. I was on an interstate going +70 mph to pass a semi and immediately after passing the car went into Limp Mode, the semi nearly rear ended me and then passed me blowing his horn and cursing me.
