wind shield wiper stopped working while driving on the highway in heavy down pour, safety was my next concern, so I pulled over and waited for the rain to stop to continue driving home.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to operate while activated. The vehicle was making a clicking noise while attempting to turn to the left or the right. The contact stated that the noise was louder while standing outside the vehicle. My windshield wipers suddenly stopped working and will not work.
EXCESSIVE Oil Consumption after 87,000 miles. Always had regular/up-to-date oil changes and took care of the vehicle. Had an oil change in June 2023 and in August (not may miles driven in that time frame), while driving I noticed the vehicle started to jerk...after arriving at work I checked under the hood and noticed there was NO OIL on the stick. I also added some antifreeze since I was there and it needed just a little. Purchased oil and filled it up. Two weeks later...again, no OIL on the stick. Less than 200 miles driven during this time. Now checking my oil every 3 days. October 2023, check engine light came on--took it to get checked and was told I was out of antifreeze. This was the only issue they could locate...no blown gaskets, etc. The AutoZone put antifreeze in to the level it should be and the next day...
I was driving down the interstate during a rainstorm when my windshield wipers stopped working. It made it impossible to see. It continued to rain that whole week so I took my car into the shop immediately to get the windshield wipers looked at and had to get a rental car in the meantime since I could not drive without the windshield wipers with it raining in North Carolina the whole week. I also needed the rental car to get to work while the car was in the shop. I recieved a call from the Chevy dealership and they said there had been a recall on the a part related to the windshield wipers and that the issue with my wipers was due to that part failing. I have never recieved information from Chevy on the recall for the windshield wiper part. If I would have known I would have...
2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO SAFTEY ISSUES WITH WINDSHIELD WIPERS.
My Front Windshield Wipers are not working, they went out on me after an ice storm here in Kentucky. I took to Chevrolet Rock- Royal Oaks here in Paducah Kentucky where they tested a motor recall part as working and stated I needed an engine harness wiring junction block after paying $160 for them to check this and there is no part available to fix the issue because it’s currently on back order. With no known information on when it will be available. Unfortunately I got caught in the rain yesterday with no wipers.
The HVAC actuator broke off preventing air flow from defrosting the windshield while I was driving through a snow storm. Because this piece failed my windshield was fogged over and I continually having to reach up to the windshield wiping fog off in order to see. In the conditions it was dangerous for myself and other drivers that I was unable to see clearly. The mechanic at Division Auto Clinic says he replaces these actuators all the time on GM vehicles. The vehicle was repaired (see invoice) costing me $300 to fix. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the problem.

On a trip to the hospital in rain, the windshield wipers failed. Doing some research, I found the current open recall. Kim’s Chevrolet in Laurel, MS is refusing to check the open recall. They claim they are not able to because there’s been “no remedy”.

We received a letter in the mail approximately April of 2022 stating there was a recall on the ball joints of the wipers. There was no parts available at the time for them to repair, The letter stated just wait. We continued to check in and there was still no fix. We were driving 2 hours away in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday August 19th when a torrential rain came down. The windshield wiper ball joint failed almost causing us to get into an accident on the interstate. We had to wait the storm out, and then made it home later on that night. I called the number on the recall sheet and GM told us that my husband's dad could fix the problem and we could be in reimbursed because he was a certified mechanic. My husband and his father who is a certified mechanic fixed the problem with...
I was heading north on US23 in northern Michigan when I was in a rainstorm, traffic was going about 30mph due to how hard the rain was coming down and I had my windshield wipers on full blast when they suddenly stopped working and sat there in the middle of my windshield. I had to cut across 2 lanes of highway traffic with very little visibility to pull over on the shoulder of the highway to figure out my windshield wipers and let the storm pass. I found out there is a recall on the wiper windshield motor, however Chevrolet does not have parts to fix the issue until December at the earliest. They do not have a temporary fix. They do not offer rental cars. Basically Chevrolet is forcing customers to fix this issue out of pocket at their expense and when I reached out for reimbursement, they told...
Driving in heavy rain on highway and windshield wipers just suddenly stopped and froze mid windshield almost hydroplaned and almost got rear ended when I slowed down despite putting caution lights on. Wipers are still not working and I have contacted multiple dealerships about this and there being a possible recall and am told there is not a permanent solution. I finally got one dealership in the area that will look at the issue. I have the incident recorded on dash camera.

On Friday, August 5th my state experienced torrential downpours and floods. While driving my windshield wipers stopped working. It was almost impossible to see, and I was fortunate that I opted to NOT take the highway home that afternoon, but opted for the longer route on suburban roads. I slowly made my way to a nearby church and parked my car. Upon retrieval and inspection the next day, it was discovered that a ball joint had corroded and broke, causing the failure. My vehicle had been in approximately a month prior at an authorized Chevrolet dealer, and nothing was said to us about the car having an active recall on the wiper system, specifically the ball joints, the very part that failed. I contacted Chevrolet's customer service department and was told that the recall remedy was not finalized, though according to NHTSA the part is to be inspected and replaced...

On July 31 , 2022 I was driving our 2015 Chevy Equinox in a heavy rain storm with the wipers on high . Suddenly the wipers quit working and upon inspection the arms moved easily by hand . We contacted a dealership and was told they didn't know about a recall and that it would be 3 weeks before they could look at it . I also talked to the Chevrolet help center that said my specific vin number was not in the recall . I am currently sending it to a service center to be fixed .

Windshield wipers stopped working, attempted to get the car repaired at a local dealership, they stated the windshield wiper recall was not office yet and they also did not have any parts to complete the repairs. I could not drive the car without the windshield wipers being operable, had to pay our of pocket to have the repairs done.
On May 6, 2022 I was driving my 9 yr old daughter home from school during a severe rainstorm and my wind shield wipers just stopped working. Absolutely no movement from them. I got out in this storm on the side of the highway to try to fix them and they would not move. I was 30 minutes from my home and my weather app stated the storm would not stop for hours so I had to drive home with no wipers. I am a single mother of 2 kids with absolutely no help and this is my only vehicle. I've been caught in the rain multiple times in this car since May and I've never shaken in fear like I have when I have to figure out how to get this car home in the rain. I have to check the weather multiple times a day if I need...

I was on my way to work and it was raining, my wipers just stopped working approximately a month ago, I had to pull over due to unsafe lack of visibility. A couple weeks later I rec'd a recall notice in the mail related to the wiper issue. I followed the directive of the representative when I called them to see how to proceed with the repair. The representative indicated I needed to take the vehicle to my nearest certified GM repair location so I took half a vacation day on the 12th of May to do so. They had the parts to repair the wipers but since the Recall Info indicated "No Remedy" yet on the GM Website, they were going to charge me $350 to do the repair. I of course do not have that kind of money and they also charged me for just taking a look...

Thank God a stop was nearby it was a safety issue

In July/August 2021, the driver side windshield wiper got stuck mid-swipe. The only way to get it to go down was to physically move it. I was driving on the interstate in the middle of a downpour. Had to pull over several times on the way home because periodically it would move back up and get stuck. When it wasn't stuck I had to lean to the right to see out of the right side of the windshield to get home. For about 20 miles. My husband figured out the issue and purchased the malfunctioning part and repaired it. In December 2021, my engine seized at a stoplight. I coaxed the car out of the way and got it on the side of the road. The only warning to this was an occasional "ticking" noise, that never seemed to happen when my husband listened to it. We assumed it was...

I was travelling at approximately 65/70 mph on the freeway when it began to rain very heavily and I turned on my windshield wipers. The windshield wipers came on for a few seconds and then stopped moving. The wiper blades would not come back on after multiple attempts. I could not see out my front window. I was able to put on my hazards and pull quickly off onto the berm with my passenger guiding me. I called the Chevrolet Dealer and they said they could replace the Windshield Wiper Transmission under a "Special Policy" at no cost to me. Dealer explained Chevrolet knows there is a problem with the wiper transmission and the special policy extends warranty to replace for no charge to me. Dealer said at this time Chevrolet is not recalling, just waiting until a car owners wipers fail and then they will replace. I had it...
Windshield wipers have been repaired 3x in 5 months because in heavy rain when wiper was increased from low to next level they go to left and stop. It’s been a bushing replacement. The last incident occurred on 8/13/2021 during heavy rainstorm in Cincinnati, OH. I am a 63 yr old female, driving by myself at night. The wipers quit working. Found spot to pull over, set for over an hour waiting for rain to ease up, which it didn’t. Luckily for me I was about 2 miles from my home. I finally braved it in the rain which had let up to a steady pace, put on my flashers and made it home on a back road. What a hazard, when I think I could have been on an interstate instead of 45 mph back road, my blood pressure goes sky high. My VIN says no recalls, but numerous...
While on the highway in the rain, the wipers were engaged to the highest setting and suddenly went was the windshield and stopped working. The wipers are in perfect condition, the wiper motor no longer engages or turns on. Super lucky to not have crashed as I had ZERO visibility from the rain.
I was driving back from Albany to Troy NY on 787 in a steady light rain when the rain roared to full torrential downpour. I put my wipers from the regular steady setting up to high, and they instantly both went all the way to the left and turned off in the upright position. They would not respond again. Middle lane, 65 mph, thunderstorm, and I can’t see anything out my windshield and cars are flying beside me on both sides. I rolled my window down but couldn’t see around my hood to the road and steer at the same time. I couldn’t get to the right lane to pull over because of the traffic and even if I could it was dangerous to be on a narrow shoulder at that point in this rainstorm. I put my flashers on, slowed to 40 and stayed in the middle lane as...
Driving today during a thunderstorm and the windshield wipers just quit working. The wiper blades stopped half way and that was it we made it to the side of the road and I could move the wipers back and forth really easy and could here a clunking down in by the motor needles to say my 2015 equinox with only 90,023 miles on it can’t go down the road with no windshield wipers this could’ve really been bad had not known my surroundings because I immediately couldn’t see the road !!! My 2000 silverado still has all its factory wiper arms and motor yet why is this pile falling apart ?? GM better go back to the drawing board on this major malfunction
On 25 June 2021, about 12:30 pm, driving from home to Bank then Shopping Center in Slidell, La. East bound on I-12 then at I-12/I-59/I-10 junction merged right on I-59s to I-I0w lane merge. In right lane approaching exit 263 (Gause Blvd) when a sudden thunderstorm happened. Switched Wipers on to High. About 1/2 mile from exit lane without any warning the wipers suddenly quit. I eased onto shoulder/turned on Hazard Lights, and continued at a slow speed to exit the Interstate and exit as it was a very heavy rain and I was afraid of being plowed into from someone from behind driving too fast for conditions. Also there is a Truck Stop on this exit and it was a very un-safe to be in on the shoulder. I exited to the right and pulled into the Truck Stop Parking Lot. After about 30 or so minutes the rain...
The windshield wiper assembly broke off and windshield wipers no longer function. I have not had it repaired yet, so it is available for inspection. My son was driving on the freeway when it started pouring rain. He had to pull over to the side of the Freeway because the windshield wipers didn’t work. I have not brought the vehicle to be inspected yet. No official inspection of any kind has occurred as of yet. There were no warnings.
I was driving with grand babies in my car and a severe rainstorm hit. I turned on the wipers and they went back and forth 2 times then I heard a clunk and they stuck to left side. I could not see at all and almost had an accident! I did some research and see that you have been aware of this issue since at least 2015. NHTSA has been investigating since then as well. There have been over a thousand reports so far. Please advise as to where I should bring my car to get it fixed by GM.
While driving home in a pretty good rainstorm, put windshield wipers on high and they completely stopped working. Couldn't see anything on a busy interstate while driving 75 miles per hour. I feel that this could have endangered my safety and the other vehicles driving on the highway as I had to pull from the middle lane of 3 lane I-75 to find the shoulder, which I could barely see. No warning. Vehicle has 89,000 miles on it. Took to dealer and vehicle was still under my personal extended warranty, but would have been a $400 repair. Couldn't drive the vehicle for a week until it was fixed because I didn't want to put my safety in jeopardy in case it rained.
