Vehicle has oil leak bad
I had just purchased a car but a month ago I was driving to lunch and I was at a stop sign when the light turned green I started to go the car started shaking and smoke was coming out of the front under the hood I had just an oil change so I took it back to the oil change shop. They could not figure out why the engine blew and I had to take it to a different BMW shop where I have to purchase a rebuilt motor and pay for the repairs. I can request all records from the automotive shop if needed.
The contact owns a 2012 BMW 528I. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle. After several attempts, the vehicle failed to start. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the contact's office. An independent mechanic arrived and diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
Vehicle leaked oil to where it caused an engine fire.
While driving error message came up on screen saying add a quart of oil, car was smoking and engine block caught fire.
The drivetrain disintegrated. Car started running really rough, and then just stopped completely. Would crank but would not move. Yes, it is available. Car would barely go, and then just stopped in the road. I had to have it towed to a mechanic. No, I had not received a warning of this possible hazard. No, it was not inspected by any of the above, but was inspected by numerous mechanics. Yes, drivetrain light/warning came on, as well as, drive at a slower rate when the car started to drive roughly. Picked up from a stop light no aggressive but normally and a few seconds after going around 20-30ish mph the car stalls and goes into neutral. I was really confused and panicking of what happened, the cars behind me almost crashed into me and I was trying to manage to pull the car over to the side of road and thankfully I did. Casually picking up from a stop light when my car just randomly decided to turn off on the middle of the road and go into neutral. I lost power steering and brakes. I was able to manage to pull over and restart the car and I was welcomed with a bunch of check engine lights and many other malfunctions. Got the car towed and comes out that the timing chain has failed as well as the oil pump and resulted in damage to the camshaft and cylinder head of the motor. This is just insane how all of this happened in just a few seconds. I took care of my car did oil changes on time, coolant, brakes, transmission fluid. I took care of my car. I own bmw 528i 2012. These engines are straight up bad. Timing chain failed at 149K miles with no signs of failure. Just driving down the road when suddenly the car just turns off and goes into neutral on its own. I simply pulled over restarted the car to cylinder misfires, car struggling to accelerate, smoke out the exhaust, and a loud rattling sound. I pulled over had the car towed. I had my car taken to a independent shop for repairs and diagnostics and what I got told was absolutley crazy. The timing chain guides broke off the timing chain, went down into the oil pump and those pieces settled into the pump restricting oil from going to the top of the motor causing the timing chain to start slacking and breaking from the top. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, WHILE IN MOTION, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AFTER ACCELERATING. THE CAR GAVE AN ERROR CODE OF DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION. MY CAR LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY CITY STREET, AND IT COULD HAVE EASILY LED TO A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY, A DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION WARNING WOULD APPEAR FREQUENTLY ON THE DISPLAY PANEL. I TOOK THE CAR TO VALLEY BMW IN MODESTO, CA, ON NOVEMBER 2018. AFTER ON EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION, THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY SUGGESTION WAS TO REPLACE THE CAR'S BATTERY. I TOOK THE CAR TO BATTERIES PLUS BULBS FOR A SECOND OPINION. I PURCHASED MY BMW 528 XI DRIVE CPO IN JANUARY 2015. IN AUGUST 2018 MY ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR AND THEN THE DRIVE TRAIN MALFUNCTION LIGHT.I TRIED TO RUN A SELF DIAGNOSTIC ON THE CAR AS THIS IS A FEATURE BUILT IN AND THE ENGINE OIL CHECK WOULD ONLY GO UP TO 15% AND CUT OFF. I TOOK IT INTO BMW OF BLOOMFIELD FOR SERVICE MENTIONING THIS TO THEM. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND CLEARED THE CODES GOT THE CAR BACK. LAST WEEK I WAS ON THE NJ TURNPIKE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STALL AND LOST POWER, I BARLEY GOT OFF THE TURNPIKE WHEN THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETELY STOP. NO WARNING MESSAGES OR NOISES JUST STOPPED. FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED DUE TO THIS BUT COULD HAVE BEEN AN UGLY ONE. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED TO THE BMW DEALER. CURRENTLY, THE PAYOFF IS $13,895.32 TILL 11/25/18. THE MONTHLY PAYMENT IS $425.00 AND THE DATE OF MATURITY FOR THE LOAN IS 9/15/21. VEHICLE WAS STARVED OF OIL. NO WARNING SHOWED UP IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VECHLE DIED ON A HIGH SPEED ROADWAY AND COULD NOT BE PUT INTO NEUTRAL TO GET IT TO A SAFE LOCATION OFF THE ROAD. THE TOW OPERATORS COULD NOT MOVE IT EITHER. CARS WERE SWERVING AND BRAKING TO AVOID HITTING MY VEHICLE. BMW TOLD ME TH OIL ISSUE WAS MY FAULT. COME TO FIND OUT THERE ARE 2 LETTERS SENT FOR WARRANTY EXTENSIONS FOR OIL PUMP DRIVE CHAIN AND ENGINE OIL FEED LINE. BECAUSE I DO MY OWN OIL CHANGES BMW STATED THE OIL ISSUE WAS MY FAULT. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND SHOULD NOT BE A WARRANTY EXTENSION BUT AN OFFICIAL RECALL! THERE ARE DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE SAFETY ISSUES WHEN THIS CAR DIES IN THE ROADWAY. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; HOWEVER, THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN FOR THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE PER THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER ALLEGED THAT THE ENGINE WAS CHANGED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.

WHILE DRIVING IN METRO DETROIT LAST NIGHT MY 2012 BMW 528I XDRIVE SUDDENLY FLASHED A "FUEL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION" MESSAGE, LURCHED AND CAME TO A DEAD STOP JUST PAST THE INTERSECTION OF NOVI ROAD AND 10 MILE. I WAS TWO MILES FROM THE EXPRESSWAY AND MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE WITH ME IN THE CAR.
