NHTSA Complaint #11656225 — 2015 FORD FOCUS

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH the transmission suddenly switched to neutral and the vehicle would no long accelerate. During the failure the message "Transmission Fault" had displayed. The contact was able to continue driving but later discovered that the vehicle would not operate in reverse. Later while driving the message "Transmission Overheating" had displayed and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission clutch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred shortly after the TCM and PCM software was updated as part of a recall repair. No further information was available.
