Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the engine overheated immediately. The check engine and engine temperature warning lights were illuminated, and the "Low Coolant" message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion into the engine, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
