Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle was sputtering and jerking. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she decelerated and drove to the residence. The contact stated that the failure recurred while her husband was driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was test-driven. The dealer diagnosed that the torque converter was falling apart inside the transmission, which was contaminating the transmission. The dealer informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
