Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the vehicle previously had the transmission replaced due to a shift solenoid failure. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle overheated and a burning odor was detected with smoke coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
