Consumer Description

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the low on coolant level warning light illuminated. While driving, another message was displayed on the instrument panel stating that the engine was overheating, do not drive. The contact pulled over into a parking lot and attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to his residence. The next day the contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer. The local dealer inspected the vehicle but was unable to restart the vehicle. The battery and starter were replaced, and the vehicle was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and the engine was replaced; however, the engine overheating message was still displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
