While operating my 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro under normal conditions, I started the vehicle and activated standard factory equipment including the seat heaters and window/mirror defrosters. Shortly thereafter, I noticed a slight acrid odor inside the vehicle, which quickly became more pronounced. I drove approximately 200 feet, and immediately returned to my driveway. Upon shutting the vehicle down, I observed smoke coming from the engine compartment. I opened the hood and confirmed smoke and signs of an electrical fire originating in the engine bay. I used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and then disconnected the vehicle’s battery. No injuries occurred. The vehicle was not restarted and was subsequently towed to an authorized Toyota dealership for inspection. Visible damage is present in the engine compartment, including the main fuse/relay box and associated electrical components. The incident occurred without collision and during normal vehicle operation.

2023 Toyota Tundra experienced repeated engine stalling and vehicle lock-up while driving on public roads, including in an intersection. During one incident, the driver was thrown forward into the steering wheel. A Toyota dealer attempted repair by replacing the neutral/park safety switch, but the repair failed and the dangerous condition persisted immediately after. The vehicle has been removed from use due to safety concerns. The issue is consistent with known engine stalling concerns affecting certain 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra vehicles. The vehicle is unsafe to operate.

Throttle lagging, truck won’t accelerate at low speeds and is very jerky

While driving today the engine check light turned on, and the engine turned off (stalled) while in the middle of the road with a good amount of traffic around me. I pulled off to the side of the road and gave the engine a minute. I turned the truck back on again, the engine sounded very rough turning on and rough while driving. After a minute or two of driving, the engine light turned on again, and the engine stopped (stalled) again while in the middle of the road. I stopped this time for two minutes or so and turned the engine on again. I then proceeded to try to make it home, which I accomplished, but the truck's engine sounded rough and with a chattering sound (engine knocking) even when idling. This is ridiculous if there’s debris in the engine of a risk for it and risk for the engine to go I want a new vehicle there’s 18k miles on this truck brand new shape and I will be putting my family in this. This is a risk I’m not willing to take. This needs to be bought back

Throttle lags/hesitates at times when accelerating from a stop.

Huge delay in the throttle response. You press on the throttle and there is sometimes a hesitation and the vehicle will not move or is jerky.

The engine of my 2023 Toyota Tundra failed at approximately 34,500 miles. The failure involved sudden loss of oil pressure and severe internal damage, with metal shavings found in the oil and oil filter. The oil filter itself detached during the incident and was later recovered with metallic debris inside. The vehicle and the recovered filter are available for inspection upon request. While accelerating from a stop light on a busy morning public road, the engine suddenly lost power, illuminated multiple warning lamps, and entered limp mode with “low oil pressure” and “engine malfunction” messages. The truck rapidly leaked oil, creating a roadway hazard and putting me, my wife & son, and other drivers at risk of accident. I continue to get this message on my dash while driving and no one in front, on side or behind my vehicle: *Foreign Object Speed Acceleration reduced. *Radio Know broke a second time *windows stutter when going up or down while wet *windows rattle *poor acceleration at take off ( very dangerous on the expressway)

Whenever it rains in DFW, vehicle emits a foul/musty odor from the HVAC system. Only happens when it rains. HVAC setting has always been the same, "Lo" temp, AC Mode ON, Recirculation mode ON, fan speed varies. Taken vehicle to two different dealerships and techs unable to duplicate. It doesnt rain much here in TX so it is hard to get it taken care of while still within warranty. My family and I use this vehicle primarily and I am concerned for my kids' lung health as they are [XXX], [XXX], and [XXX] years old as of writing. Hesitation when trying to accelerate. When I start my truck in the morning And hit the gas there’s a hesitation before it will move and When I come to a stop sign and hit the gas there’s always a hesitation. When the truck finally starts to move it jumps quickly forward from pressing down on the gas pedal and it’s almost caused me to rear end someone multiple times.

On February 25, 2025, I took my 2023 Toyota Tundra VIN# [XXX] to Stokes Toyota Beaufort, SC, for its 45,000-mile service. Just 300 meters after leaving the dealership, my truck caught fire, causing significant damage and putting my safety at risk. Hesitation on accelerator going from reverse o drive or park to drive

Fuel gage will randomly reset itself to full when the tank quantity is less than full or fuel gage will not reset to full after the gas tank is filled. A manual reset of the computer is required to force the gage to reset to an accurate reading. Driver is at risk of running out of fuel due to the gage overstating the quantity of fuel remaining. Numerous reports of this situation are found on youtube along with instructions on how to manually reset the software to force the gage to reset. Gage has malfunctioned 4 times in less than two months. Dealer could not find an issue with the system and requires the vehicle to be brought in during the malfunction. Issue started around 8000 miles and 22 months after initial delivery to owner.

Notified of safety recall for this in August of 2023, to date, 10/10/2024, the fix has not been installed or available for my vehicle. Initially notified of a recall for the same issue on April 28th, 2023. I was under the impression this had been remedied during one of the services performed between April and August of 2023, with the dealer telling me the August 2023 recall was a different recall for the same part as the remedied part was recalled as well.

Fuel gauge shows full after driving 120 miles.

All the cameras for parking and the driving lane assist failed while raining, the screen turned all green and started glitching, next day the truck was fine and this is the 3rd time, never got in an accident

The tailgate opens on its own while I am traveling down the highway. I now have to brace anything I put in the bed of the truck lest the tailgate opens on the highway and I spill my load and cause a catastrophic injury or death on the highway. When shifting into Park, having to keep my brakes firmly engaged due to a periodic and rapid acceleration of the engine. At cruising speed, on the highway, a vibration that only occurs when climbing hills coupled with a rapid pulsing of the engine/transmission. At cruising speed, on a level ground, the transmission rapidly disengages and reengages. Weekly I have gauge and infotainment malfunctions wherein I have to turn off the truck and restart it to make the gauges work. The gauges just freeze and fail to respond. The compass flips direction. Malfunctioning gas gauge. The backdoors lock and will not unlock....

Radio knob broke and radio audio became stuck at a loud status making it difficult to hear any first responder vehicles or concentrate/navigate through daily traffic. I am writing to bring to your attention a critical safety concern regarding the Toyota Tundra, specifically related to the rear tailgate functionality. It has come to my attention, and I have personally experienced, that the rear tailgate of the Toyota Tundra can unexpectedly open while the vehicle is in drive mode if the key fob is accidentally pressed. The fuel gauge will randomly reset itself to full. This poses a safety concern as the truck may run out of gas while it is showing that it is not empty. This could happen while doing something like pulling out in to traffic or turning across a lane of traffic. This affects many trucks, not just mine.

I was on the road and suddenly the dashboard came on and showed several faults. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the alternator was no longer working and my truck is now 3 months old at the Toyota dealership.

The fuel gage randomly reset to full when there is in fact only half a tank of gas.

Before this recall happened we had issues with screen blacking out and crashing even after the recall was “fixed” also the back seat outlet has never worked. The malfunction of the grille shutter and park support brake malfunction came last week and we had to have that fixed. Now this! The dealerships around kansas don’t have loaner vehicles or rentals available. How is this okay?!

The new Tundra most of the features are controlled by the 14-inch Infotainment screen. The screen has gone completely dark and irresponsive to touch, power on/off, and hard reset by the dealership. Given that so many of the truck's safety features are controlled in this system, the vehicle is unsafe to operate. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership for service and beyond the hard reset (disconnect and reconnect the battery) which they've done, they are unable to diagnose what the problem is or how to fix it.

The display on the speedometer stops working and turn off completely and die, you lose all lane departure and speedometer, car tenperature, etc etc, you can’t drive it since you dont know the speed you’re going, and all the functions for radars, etc. even turn it off and on multiple times i got stranded at work, the truck has 500 miles only…

Merging into a highway vehicle lost power. Wouldn’t accelerate above 50 mph. Had multiple warning come on the dash, power lost, hybrid system failure, park daisy failure. Turned my hazards on a proceeded to safety. Definitely nerve racking, wouldn’t want this to happen when merging lanes in fast moving heavily traffic road. Accident waiting to happen. Toyota is completely silent about it.
