Unknown. Intermittently when merging into highway traffic from the onramp, the truck will stall and I will lose acceleration. There will be a loss in power and the truck speed will not change. instead it will just coast with no ability to change speed. I have owned the truck for 1 year and 3months. I advised the dealer and they can not duplicate the issue.

Add a stoplight or stop sign at a full and complete stop…. I pressed down the accelerator and nothing happens for about a second and a half… When it finally does respond, it jumps as if it was struggling to get into gear and popped itself… However, then it goes right back to normal.. But the slow starting happens very often. Definite lag when punching on the gas.

There have been multiple times, since owning the vehicle, when there is dangerous throttle lag. I step on the gas to turn and nothing happens for a few seconds. It can be pretty scary when there is a car coming and the truck just rolls for a few minutes before accelerating. It’s become a major safety concern for my family.

1-2 second period of no throttle response from a rolling stop, then a sudden lurch of acceleration many times onto a now busy intersection.

Since purchasing this truck in 2023, the engine or transmission has exhibited a severe throttle lag/hesitation when cold—a 2–4 second delay in acceleration from a stop after pressing the gas pedal, followed by a sudden lurch, which creates a safety hazard when merging into traffic. No warning lights, error messages, or other fault indicators appear. The dealer has been unable to reproduce the issue because the truck is warm by the time it's inspected, and no inspection has been performed outside the dealership.

After I come to stop at a light or A stop sign, when I press the accelerator the truck lurches out into the intersection then stops and the truck will not move for 1-3 seconds even though I am pressing the gas pedal. When it finally responds, the truck jumps or lurches forward. Each time this happens I am almost hit and people have to drive around me. I have been almost hit like 50 times. This is a huge safety issue.

I get random lags in thorttle engagement when starting from complete or rolling stops. When this happens, it behaves like there is a delay between the throttle input and the engine resoponse. Push the throttle to go, and no go, and after a delay of usually part of a second, then it jerks and goes. Most times there is no problem and the throttle responds correctly, but this issue occurs randomly almost every time I drive.

I am writing to report a serious issue with my vehicle’s throttle response. When accelerating from a stop, the vehicle consistently hesitates and feels as though it may stall, leaving me vulnerable in traffic or at intersections. This problem has already resulted in three very close calls, two of which required police involvement. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle under these conditions. I have attempted to trade out of the vehicle, but the offers I’ve received have been significantly reduced due to the widely known nature of this issue. Please advise on the next steps to address this matter. Safety is my top priority, and I believe this situation requires immediate attention. Thank you for your prompt response.

This is ridiculous if there’s debris in the engine of a risk for it and risk for the engine to go I want a new vehicle there’s 18k miles on this truck brand new shape and I will be putting my family in this. This is a risk I’m not willing to take. This needs to be bought back

When rolling in to a Round About (rotary) at a slow speed and the applying throttle the truck takes a second or tow before increase forward motion. The lag time is usually around 1.5 seconds and when the time has lapsed it lurches forward. This hesitation in forward motion has put me and my passengers in danger of being T-Boned multiple times. The modes most often used and notice this delay is ECO, Normal, and comfort. It's been this way since day one and when mentioned to the dealer I then get a response that it is normal.

When accelerating from a stop it has a severe delay. I’ve read now this is not normal. Sometimes the delay can be 1-2 seconds causing confusions at like stop signs and such as I’ve pressed the gas and get nothing. Not reported to dealership but will on next oil change as this has been a persistent problem since purchase.

We recently had an engine failure in our 2023 Toyota Tundra ([XXX]). Then on [XXX] the truck caught fire while we were driving in Arkansas. The fire caused the brakes to fail completely, and we wound up jumping from the still moving truck. The truck and contents were a total loss. While driving under normal conditions, my 2023 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Hybrid experienced a sudden and severe loss of propulsion. The vehicle abruptly entered fail-safe (limp) mode and would not accelerate beyond approximately 5–10 mph. This occurred without warning and created an immediate safety hazard in traffic. Multiple warning messages illuminated simultaneously, including: Hybrid System Malfunction, Check Engine, Smart Stop System Malfunction, and Advanced Ultrasonic Detection Malfunction. The hybrid system effectively shut down and the vehicle could not maintain normal road speed. I brought the vehicle to a Toyota dealership. The dealership performed only ECM and hybrid ECU software updates and cleared codes. No mechanical inspection, oil pressure analysis, particulate inspection, turbo system evaluation, hybrid motor synchronization testing, or engineering-level diagnostics were performed. Toyota Corporate subsequently stated that the software update was the “final” resolution and declined further diagnostics. I was advised to return to the dealership if the issue...

Tundra has had and has throttle lag. Lag is so noticeable that other drivers notice. Following lag is a burst of power causing a jerk and or lunge forward. This is after a long pause. Happens on a roll, or start-stop situation. My truck has had the toyota tsb applied a long time ago.

When accelerating from a stop, on occasion there is a multi second delay before the vehicle accelerates. I have had a few close calls with oncoming traffic when entering a new road from a stop due to these delays. It is quite worrisome. This has happened since new and after a software flash on the transmission.

The truck will hesitate for a brief second while trying to accelerate from both stop and in drive where it'll jolt you forward. This will also happen when shifting into driving and it jolts you forward. This is a huge safety risk because my truck can stall when i need the truck to go. I have brought it up to the dealership which told me multiple times as "normal". No lights has popped up but I know my other cars doesn't stall when giving gas.

the fuel guage on the dashboard shows inccurate infroamtion. I filled up the tank and went out of city. Once I came back home, next morning it was showing full tank. I was unsure about the quantity left, i filled up the tank and it was almost 11Gallon missing but it was showing full even on the gas station. It was fixed after a while but again today, it shows the full tank on dashboard but I saw half last night. I seached up online and it shows so many other people having the same issue. They also put some solutions but none of them worked for 2023 tundra. This could be a great risk if you are on a long route and do not know how much fuel left .

The engine of my 2023 Toyota Tundra failed at approximately 34,500 miles. The failure involved sudden loss of oil pressure and severe internal damage, with metal shavings found in the oil and oil filter. The oil filter itself detached during the incident and was later recovered with metallic debris inside. The vehicle and the recovered filter are available for inspection upon request. While accelerating from a stop light on a busy morning public road, the engine suddenly lost power, illuminated multiple warning lamps, and entered limp mode with “low oil pressure” and “engine malfunction” messages. You start with a half tank of gas or so. Then you park on an incline like a driveway. When starting the truck again the fuel tank shows full tank and more miles available till empty which is inaccurate. The gauge does not reset till you refill. Workarounds online do not work. This is a safety issue in mountain driving when you park you may miss how much gas you have left and can stall causing an accident or being stranded in a remote area. Toyota says they are aware but online reports show it has been a known issue since 2022. I feel this should be addressed before someone is hurt or stranded. This issue has occurred multiple times to me.

Vehicle losses a lot of power after being in a stop sign and trying to accelerate, there is also a ticking sound in the engine. With my fuel my car shows that there’s a full tank but in reality there is half a tank.

The vehicle has a hesitation when accelerating or when I turn a corner and then try to accelerate it lags. Had a few incidents where I almost got rear ended due to the issue

Periodic sluggish gas pedal response. Often from a stop when pressing the gas pedal the truck lurches a little forward then slows down as if I took my foot off the pedal right after pressing it. Nearly got rear-ended a couple times.

After braking or coming to a momentary stop, such as a stop sign, the tundra’s throttle is delayed for 2-3 seconds. Full pedal to floor, no acceleration. Extremely scary when it occurs, results in pulling out into traffic and having to wait 2-3 seconds before accelerating. It seems to be the ECM hunting for gears after slowing, hesitating, then selecting 6th gear and bottoming out before downshifting to 2nd and nearly burning out as it finally accelerates away from rapidly approaching traffic. Often happens, or is noticed more frequently, when turning right from a stop sign. Please have Toyota fix this, they are not acknowledging there is an issue!

Consistently this vehicle experiences a hesitation to accelerate from a stop or rolling stop such as a stop sign or at a round about type intersection. When this occurs there may be up to a 2 second delay from when I press the accelerator to when the vehicle moves and once it does begin to move it will jump forward rapidly. I have had several near miss collisions upon entering round abouts when this occurs as well as at several stop sign intersections. This problem has existed from when the vehicle was at about 5,000 miles. I have reported this condition to the Toyota dealer on 2 occasions and they tell me Toyota does not recognize this is an issue and there is no fix.

Toyota has two recalls on my 2023 tundra. One is from August 10, 2023 and the other is from May 30, 2024. The first can cause a fuel leak and the second can cause engine failure while driving. i got this truck in 2022. i am wondering what has to happen before something will be done to fix theses recalls or I have to go through some changes before this is handled. I do not need any accidents before anything is done to fix my situation

I am currently leasing this 2023 Toyota Tundra Platinum and after about six I noticed that there was a delay in the throttle engaging and it felt like the truck bogged down. I asked the sales associate whom I bought the vehicle from if this was normal, and she said it was a normal safety feature. I have brought up a complaint with Toyota since November of 2023 about it and since then I have had my kids in the truck and there are multiple situations where i have had to cross traffic, go around someone on the highway almost being rearended because the vehicle does not engage and go as needed ultimately almost causing multiple wrecks. Notified of safety recall for this in August of 2023, to date, 10/10/2024, the fix has not been installed or available for my vehicle. Initially notified of a recall for the same issue on April 28th, 2023. I was under the impression this had been remedied during one of the services performed between April and August of 2023, with the dealer telling me the August 2023 recall was a different recall for the same part as the remedied part was recalled as well.

Fuel gauge shows full after driving 120 miles.

I have been informed that my vehicle was affected by the recall involving the machining debris and therefore unsafe to drive. The dealership in Kendall Toyota, who is not normally my service dealer called me and after removing all my belongings and waiting for hours I was told my rental car was a Chevrolet Traverse, which I was unable to use for my business and was told I had to leave it with them indefinitely, and so I called my usual dealership in Hollywood, who informed me they would be able to help me out with a more appropriate rental vehicle the next day I advised the dealership at Kendall picked up my truck and went to Toyota of Hollywood only to be sent away stating that they did not have the remedy and we’re not able to help me. I have since followed up and every time I go...

The problem was identified approximately August 2023 and they claim there is no remedy for the problem as of today. However, they are selling the 2024 identical models without the issue. This means they have fixed the problem and not trying to remedy the problem in the vehicles that are already sold. Possibly fuel leaks and a fires are a serious problem that risking injuries, deaths or loss of properties. They need to be held accountable for an expedited solution. Thanks

The recall 23TA09 - Increased risk of fire was issued in August of 2023. Why is the remedy not yet available 11 months later?

We have had this vehicle about a year and a half, 2023 Toyota Tundra and have had to take it back and forth to McLarty Toyota for recall work. Concerning this particular recall, 24ta07-Engine may stall during driving, we were told is unfixable. If this vehicle cannot be fixed, we are demanding it be replaced with a reliable truck

2 incidents to where the vehicle turned off on a heavy acceleratio. 1st incident -pulled out into traffic and accelerated heavily. Truck stopped and a warning light came on about emergency brake. I took it to dealer and the couldn't duplicate but called Toyota to talk to them qith no resolution. 2nd incident same thing heavily accelerated while pulling into traffic and car shut down with a different warning saying to pull over and restart truck. Took to Toyota with still no resolution There was about 10k Mike between the 2 incidents

Fuel gauge randomly resets itself to full. This could lead to the vehicle running out of fuel without the driver knowing that it was low. Confirmed by dealer via video evidence of the vehicle taking 14.4 gallons to fill when the gauge read over 3/4 tank (tanks is only 32 gallons).

This truck was sold even while it was under recall over 1 year ago. That recall, for fuel tank issues STILL cannot be repaired as there are STILL not enough parts being distributed to dealers to fix it. Since that time, 2 additional recalls have been issued and dealers have no indication when they will be able to fix it. This vehicle should be treated as a lemon and taken off the road at Toyota's expense.

Enterprise rented me recalled car. I asked about check engine light and they said it was for oil change. Kept for 30 days renting it twice.

When I drive the vehicle for a period of time and use a 1/3 of the fuel in the vehicle and park on non level surface: Meaning the front of the vehicle is pointed up and rear is lower the fuel gauge will register full on vehicle restart. Even if I drive the vehicle around and park it on a level surface and restart the vehicle it still fails to show the correct amount of fuel in the vehicle. In addition it will slowly subtract fuel based upon driving that is inline with normal fuel usage: It never registers that you are actually 1/3 lower then indicated on the gas gauge. On multiple occasions my fuel gauge has randomly reset from 3/4 full to above full. Had I not noticed this change I could have run out of gas. Toyota refuses to do anything about this and I have reported this to corporate and two different dealerships. Taken it in for repairs 4 times. They tell me there is nothing they can do???

Fuel Gauge is always showing incorrect levels. When fueld up to full at times the gauge will show 1/2 tank to 1/4. Then other times if I know I have 1/4 tank of fuel left the gauge will show as full tank. Very unreliable and concerned whether I have a fuel leak or what not

When parked on a slight incline facing uphill (~5°) fuel gauge began reading full. Fuel level prior to parking was 1/2 tank. Fuel gauge was stuck reading full for several days. Dealership unable to resolve.

Vehicle leaked fuel onto the garage floor. This is a fire hazard for my home and the hybrid vehicle. The dealership is currently inspecting the issue, and have stated they could not find the source of the leak at this time. There were no warning messages or lamps.

My 2023 Toyota Tundra currently has a open recall for the fuel tube rubbing against another near component increasing the risk of fire. The life of my family/public and myself were put at risk every day as this can cause a fire which is life threating. This problem has been confirmed by Toyota however there is no safe remedy for it at the moment. There is also a problem with the suspension/ball joints. Every time I turn the steering wheel while driving forward or reverse there is a clicking noise coming from what appears to be the suspension or ball joints or around that area. That issue has been reported to the local dealer however they cant duplicate that issue, according to the service adviser. There were no warning lamps turned on prior to any of the aforementioned. There has been a known issue and recall on this vehicle since August with both personal and public life threatening events. Official notifications are just being shared from Toyota with no sight line provided for permanent fix. This causes significant cause for concern and angst in daily driving of the vehicle. If a fix isn’t available, a complete vehicle recall and exchange should be provided as resolution. These are serious life threatening circumstances that could impact myself, my family or innocent bystander. I feel unsafe and hold Toyota and National highway traffic and safety directly liable. The enforcement and the assumed liability by Toyota of delivering a safe vehicle should be upheld.

Before this recall happened we had issues with screen blacking out and crashing even after the recall was “fixed” also the back seat outlet has never worked. The malfunction of the grille shutter and park support brake malfunction came last week and we had to have that fixed. Now this! The dealerships around kansas don’t have loaner vehicles or rentals available. How is this okay?!
