DASHBOARD IS MELTING WHEN IN SUNLIGHT OR HEAT. IT ALSO REFLECTS ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING DRIVING IN DAYLIGHT DANGEROUS. *JS
THE VEHICLE HAS A RATTLING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD THAT NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND COMPLETED THE WORK THAT THEY SAID I HAD TO DO BUT THE RATTLING NOISE STILL CONTINUES. I ALSO TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM EITHER. *TR
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN OCTOBER 2011 AND APPROXIMATELY 6 -9M MONTHS LATER NOTICED THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $3,000. I THEN CONTACTED TOYOTA WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP AS THERE WAS NOT A RECALL. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED, THE DASHBOARD IS SOFT TO THE TOUCH AND DISINTEGRATES WHEN TOUCHED HAS DEEP GOUGES FROM MY FINGERNAILS TOUCHING IT AND SHOWS SCRAPE MARKS FROM THE DASHBOARD PROTECTOR THAT I USE EVERY DAY. *TR
THE DASH IS STICKY AND SEEMS TO BE MELTING. YOU CAN TOUCH IT AND IT WILL LEAVE AN IMPRESSION. A COUPLE OF CRACKS HAVE ALSO DEVELOPED. THIS CAR IS NOT THAT OLD. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE AIRBAGS DUE TO THE BREAKDOWN OF THE DASH. I ALSO DID NOT PAY THE PRICE I DID FOR AN AUTOMOBILE THAT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS AFTER ONLY 6 YEARS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT $1500 TO REPLACE THE DASH. I DON'T BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS REALLY STICKY AND HAS GATHER DEBRIS FROM MY SUNSHADE. THERE ARE ALSO SOME CRACKS FORMING. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. THAT IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY (SINCE IT'S 5 YEARS OLD AND 42K MILES) AND I CAN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IF I WANTED THEM TO LOOK AT IT, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $115 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE GUY WHO HELPED ME EVEN LOOKED FOR ANY RECALLS BUT FOUND NONE. SO NOW I JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. I CAN SEE IT BECOMING A REALLY BIG SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDOW AREA OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT.? SOME PEOPLE'S DASHBOARDS ARE WORSE THAN MINE BECAUSE OF THE SUN. I FEEL LIKE A COUPLE YEARS DOWN THE ROAD, I WILL BE UNABLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT IS SO REFLECTIVE DURING THE DAYLIGHT....
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND REFLECTING ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
THE DASH BOARD IS MELTING AND VERY STICKY TO THE TOUCH. IT ALSO IS VERY SOFT AND EASILY KNICKED BY TOUCH REMOVING A PIECE OF THE DASH. YOU CAN NOT CLEAN THE DASH BECAUSE THE CLOTH WILL STICK LEAVING LINT BEHIND. I HAVE NEVER USED ANY CLEANER OF ANY KIND TO CLEAN THE DASH. I HAVE ALWAYS USED A DRY CLOTH FOR CLEANING. *TR
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE MY CAR, BUT I TOO HAVE A MELTING DASHBOARD. I SPENT ABOUT $60 FOR A DASH COVER AND THAT WONT EVEN STAY ON THE DASH BECAUSE IN THE FLORIDA HEAT, IT STILL MELTS. MY DASH HAS MARKS IN IT NOW FROM IT MELTING AND IF I EVER DECIDE TO SELL, EVEN WITH THE LOW MILEAGE, IT WILL TAKE AWAY THE VALUE OF MY CAR WHICH IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. *JS
DASH BOARD HAS MELTED. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I WENT TO TOYOTA OF STUART FL AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PART BUT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE LABOR. THE LABOR IS $400.00 WHO CAN AFFORD THAT. I THINK THEY NEED TO REPLACE IT FOR FREE. WHEN IM DRIVING MY FINGER NAILS END UP GETTING STUCK IN THE DASH. YOU CANT OPEN OR STRETCH YOU FINGERS WHEN THEY ARE ON THE WHEEL. THEN YOU ARE TRYING TO GET THE STICKY DASH BOARD OFF YOUR FINGERS AND OUT FROM UNDER YOUR NAILS. IT DISTRACTS YOU WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD. *JS
DASHBOARD ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME STICKY AND SHINY. AS I WAS CLEANING THE WINDSHIELD ONE DAY, THE PAPER STARTED TO STICK TO THE DASHBOARD AND I STILL CAN'T REMOVE IT. I TRIED WITH SEVERAL PRODUCTS TO NEUTRALIZE THE DASHBOARD, WITHOUT SUCCESS. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND ASKED THEM FOR THEIR ADVISE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY NEVER OBSERVED ANYTHING LIKE THAT AND ONLY COULD OFFER TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD FOR APPROXIMATELY $1500. THE SHEEN ON THE DASH ALSO CREATES A GLARE ON SUNNY DAYS, WHICH CREATE A SAFETY HAZARD. I PERSONALLY THINK ITS A PRODUCT DEFECT AND TOYOTA IS AVOIDING A RECALL. I AM 67 YEARS OLD, AND HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME. THIS IS A FIRST. IT REALLY NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. SINCERELY, VERY DISAPPOINTED *JS
MY DAUGHTER OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY, THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN KEPT IN GREAT CONDITION, AND MY WIFE HAS BEEN DRIVING IT FOR THE PAST 18 MONTHS. WE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE DASH BOARD ON THE VEHICLE HAS GOUGES IN IT (ON THE AREA THAT HANGS OVER ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL) AND WE REALIZED THAT MERELY ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE DASH BOARD WITH YOUR FINGERNAILS (AS ONE COULD DO ACCIDENTALLY IF YOU WERE DRIVING AND TURNING THE WHEEL) IS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE NAILS TO "SINK IN" AND CAUSE A PERMANENT SCAR IN THE DASH BOARD. THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD, WHEN YOU TOUCH IT, IS "STICKY", OR "TACKY", ALMOST LIKE DRYING PAINT OR TAR. IT'S SO SOFT, THAT CONCEIVABLY, YOU COULD TAKE AN ICE CREAM SCOOP AND SCOOP OUT ENTIRE CHUNKS. MY 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY ALSO HAS THE SAME ISSUE. I DID NOT CLEAN MY DASH BOARD WITH ANY...
DASH STARTED TO GET STICKY AND WHATEVER I TRIED TO CLEAN IT WITH WOULD END UP STICKING TO IT. OVER TIME THIS HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. TODAY , IF YOU PUT YOUR FINGER INTO THE DASH IT WILL CREATE AN INDENTATION AND STAY THAT WAY.I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND A LOT OF TOYOTA OWNERS SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS TIME FOR ME TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE AND IM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD GET ANOTHER TOYOTA OR GO TO A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. I HAVE TRIED TO SELL MY CAR OUT RIGHT AND EVERY DEALER IS TAKING AT LEAST $2000.00 OFF OF WHAT THE CAR IS WORTH. WHY HAS THIS PROBLEM NOT BEEN RECALLED? IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURERS ISSUE AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED BY TOYOTA. IM HOPING THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE...

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE SUN WOULD SHINE ON THE DASHBOARD MATERIAL, IT WOULD REFLECT AND CAUSE AN OBSTRUCTION TO THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY OF THE ROADWAY. IN ADDITION, THE MATERIAL ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD BECOME VERY STICKY AS IF IT WERE MELTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,534. UPDATED 10/17/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED HE NOTICED THE DASHBOARD WAS VERY SHINY AND STICKY AND THERE WERE SMALL HOLES BEGINNING TO APPEAR. AS TIME WENT ON WITHIN A WEEK, THERE WERE MORE HOLES. THE DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO MELT. IT IS CAUSING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD DUE TO THE DASH MELTING AND BECOMING SHINNY. THE DASHBOARD IS BECOMING SO SOFT THAT YOU CAN LEAVE FINGER PRINTS OR INDENTS IN IT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP (CRAMER TOYOTA IN VENICE FL) THEY TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY GOOD FOR THREE YEARS FOR THE DASH, RECOMMENDED A DASH COVER. THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM BUT I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE SEEN MORE AND MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2007-2009 CAMRY MODELS ACROSS THE COUNTRY MELTING. *TR

2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE ROOF. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HEARD A NOISE AS SHE WAS DRIVING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE ROOF HAD DISCONNECTED FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE COMPONENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,650. UPDATED 3/14/13 *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING HEAVY RAINS, SHE WOULD OBSERVE LARGE PUDDLES OF WATER IN THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE CARPET. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A PUDDLE AND INSTALLED FLOOR PANEL BODY PLUGS TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE HE FOUND THAT THE A/C DRAIN WAS CLOGGED WITH POLLEN AND DEBRIS. THE DEALER SERVICED THE VEHICLE ACCORDINGLY YET THE FAILURE RECURRED AT THE NEXT HEAVY RAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,585 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,222.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2009. HE STATED THAT A PIECE OF METAL WAS HANGING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT FRAME, NEAR THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL. HE ALSO STATED THAT UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE BEGAN IDLING UNCONTROLLABLY AND WITHIN MINUTES IT WOULD SETTLE DOWN AND REPEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE PIECE OF METAL THAT WAS HANGING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED; YET, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE AGAIN, COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A LEMON LAW COMPLAINT SINCE THE FAILURE COULD NOT DUPLICATED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4400.
2009 TOYOTA CAMRY - INCIDENTS HAPPENED BEFORE CURRENT ACCELERATION HOOPLA. TWICE TO MY WIFE, TWICE TO ME. WHEN QUICKLY APPLYING BRAKE , FOOT TOUCHES GAS PEDAL AND CAR ACCELERATES. NEVER ON ANY OTHER CAR, INCLUDING A 2005 CAMRY HAS THIS HAPPENED. I BELIEVE THAT THE RELATION OF BOTH PEDALS TO EACH OTHER IS TOO CLOSE. ALSO THE DESIGN OF BOTH DOES NOT HELP. I DRIVE AUTOS, NOT DESIGN THEM, BUT I THINK THIS IS MORE OF A CONCERN THAN FLOOR MATS. THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. *TR BOB WILLETT
