2017 TESLA MODEL S Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

I used Summon on [XXX] to bring my car to me because it was parked way at the end of the parking lot at Discount tire. There was only 1 car in the whole lot, which was parked next to my Tesla. While using the “come to Me” feature in Summon – My Tesla pulled forward and then turned and drove right in to the car parked next to mine. It did quite a bit of damage to my Tesla and the Mercedes parked next to me it ran into. When I called my local Tesla Service Center in Austin to ask what I am supposed to do, they told me they needed to run diagnostics to see if they can fix the “summon” issue. While using the summon feature from my iPhone with the Tesla application my car drove into my house causing damage. I have video of this from my camera doorbell of the incident. I work in mobile application development and was told this was user error by Tesla when it first occurred.

Random breaking was prevalent with driving computer 2.5, which recently upgraded to 3.0. The "phantom breaking" is more general and is very dangerous. There have been locations where the vehicle behind me almost wrecked due to my car brakes slamming on out of the blue. I looked up the issue online and found the problem has been happening for years. My wife will not ride in my car now due to the fear of an experience when this phantom breaking accused while she was with me. I am using adaptive cruise less often and not using autopilot. The downside is that the car's efficiency is reduced when not using these "smart" features.

Tesla has announced their intent to use "Tesla Vision" instead of radar to detect forward obstacles. "Tesla Vision" is a camera-only approach. Tesla cars receive OTA (over the air) updates, and these updates cannot declined. If an OTA update changes my car so that it no longer uses the radar with which it is equipped, I will have a much less safe vehicle, one that can't detect obstacles when there is poor visibility such as in the heavy fogs, rains, and snow conditions that we often encounter here on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. NHTSA should forbid the use of "Tesla Vision" without radar, and should require all Tesla vehicles to be retrofitted with functional, forward-looking radar.

I have experienced an increase in the number of phantom braking incidents when my autopilot is engaged. It's been on hilly roads but the car would just decelerate extremely fast when nothing was there. I also had two incidences on the highway where the screens froze and I couldn't control the instrument panels or see my speed etc.

My 2017 Tesla modes S has had a phantom braking for nearly five years. It usually occurs when the car is in cruise control and falsely identifies a vehicle (usually on the front right side) that isn't there. The sudden and rapid braking is disconcerting at best and dangerous at worst. Fortunately, I have not had an accident due to this sudden and inappropriate behavior. I have supplied this information to Tesla several times including dozens of "bug report" which is sent directly to Tesla when the incident occurs. Tesla has never fixed the problem.

THE SOUND FOR THE ENTIRE CAR WILL CUT OUT. IT MIGHT COME BACK, BUT EVEN A REBOOT OF THE CAR DOES NOT SOLVE ANYTHING. THESE SOUNDS MAY INCLUDE BLINKER NOISE, SPEED LIMIT CHIMES, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING, AUTOPILOT ENGAGE/DIS-ENGAGE CHIMES, GEAR WARNINGS, COLLISION SAFETY CHIMES, EARLY BRAKING WARNING, AND A LOT MORE SAFETY-RELATED SOUNDS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, NOT JUST THE REPORTED DATE. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIRS NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THIS HAS NEVER BEEN ADDRESSED. I AM ONLY TOLD TO WAIT FOR A NEW FIRMWARE UPGRADE, WHICH I HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS NOW SINCE I FIRST REPORTED THE ISSUE TO TESLA. CENTER CONSOLE GETS BLACK SCREEN OCCURRENCES AND LOSS OF AUDIO HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 15-20 TIMES. PURCHASED CAR FROM TESLA IN MID OCTOBER. SCREEN ISSUES SINCE HAVING THE CAR AND NO AUDIO, TESLA STATES TO PATIENTLY AWAIT FE UPDATE HAVE HAD THE CAR SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE ISSUE. SEVERAL APPOINTMENTS CANCELED BY TESLA STATING THERE IS NO FIX AND TO PERFORM RESET ON CAR WHICH IM NOW DOING EVERY 5-10 DAYS.THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN PARK AND HAVE HAD TO DRIVE MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE FREEWAY AND SURFACE ROADS WITH NO SCREEN OR AUDIO. HAS OCCURRED 11-17-20, 11-28-20, 12-8-20, 12-19-20, 1-2-21, 1-8,21,. WHEN BLACK SCREEN OCCURS NO WARNING CHIMES OR AUDIO PRESENT. TESLA REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE HE ISSUE DESPITE BEING AWARE OF IT AND HAVING BEEN GIVING EXACT DATES OF OCCUPANCIES PICTURES OF BLACK SCREEN ETC.

MY SCREEN TURNED BLANK AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO SEE THE REAR VIEW CAMERA, THE TURNING SIGNAL, TO SET THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL DUE TO A KNOWN DEFECT OF A MEMORY CHIP.
