The 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 I purchased from a dealer on 12/6/25 now has a serious safety defect. The transmission began grinding when shifting into Drive on 1/27/26. Immediately after, the vehicle started rolling backwards while fully in Park with the engine running. This indicates a failure of the parking pawl or internal gearset. The backup camera also does not function, there are coolant and power steering leaks, and the axle/wheel bearing is failing. The dealer claimed the van passed a “120-point inspection,” but it is clearly unsafe and unfit for operation. This defect poses a risk of rollaway injury, crash, and property damage.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that the driver’s and passenger’s side seat belts' webbing was frayed. The contact had not experienced a failure with the seat belts; however, due to the safety concerns, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the seat belts were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall associated with the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
Seat belt doesn’t retract or extent when in use or not in use. When you break, it lets loose and when you are driving it locked down.
The contact owns a 2022 Thor Scope RV constructed on a 2021 Ram 1500 chassis. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side seat belt was inoperable due to the length of the seat belt. The RV was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the seat belt was installed as designed. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the seat belt was installed as designed. The failure mileage was approximately 3,072. The consumer stated the authorization to address has been declined multiple times.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that while there were passengers occupying the dinette booth, the seat belts failed to accommodate the passenger. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 1,200. Consumer stated he would like to withdrawal the complaint.*JB
THE BACK SEATBELTS SEIZE UP AND NO LONGER EXTEND. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE FORUMS AND SOMEONE EVEN POSTED A VIDEO DESCRIBING THE ISSUE BEING RELATED TO THE LEVELING FEATURE IN THE SEATBELT MECHANISM NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=RO6BNJE-LKK
