2022 RAM 1500 Back Over Prevention Problems

The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera image was blue, and the message "Camera Unavailable" was displayed. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the vehicle made abnormal knocking sounds and stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure persisted. The contact was able to pull into a gas station and parked the vehicle. A mechanic informed the contact that the sound was coming from the engine; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the back-up camera wiring harness had short-circuited and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,933.
