Electrical wiring mess with air for air or heating up I was trying to make it work while driving and then all of suddenly dashboard light went out, car slowed down and stopped. Turned the car off then turned back on dashboard light wouldn't work, windshield wipers stop working. Got stuck middle of nowhere after I pulled over to check with the car won't turn back on till fuse change and engine start working again after put in mismatch fuse box supposed to match but it different fuse for fuse box
The ignition is faulty. My ignition allows my radio to turn on randomly. I could have the car off, I'm not in it at all. If I get inside to go somewhere and the radio is already on before I put the key in. Most times it's not a big deal. The car starts and I go about my business. Recently I've been experiencing needing to get a jump because the battery gets run down over the radio being on. When I'm inside the car and it's running I'm able to pull the key completely out of the ignition and the car stays running until I put my key in and turn it to the off position. I've gotten the recall cards since I bought the car 5 years ago. On the card it lists the cause as "unintended ignition key rotation". I scheduled a appointment for this to get...
4 YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT MY GRAND AM 2000 I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT, ANY WAY RECENTLY I HAD TO REPLACE THE SWITCH IGNITION BECAUSE THE KEY GOT STUCK AND COULDNT GET OIT OUT. THEN JUST LAST WEEK THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND IT WAS THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH I PAID $380.00 OUT OF NY POCKET AND I WANT A REFUND BECAUSE THERE IS A RECALL 140350 FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH
REPLACED RECALL IGNITION SWITCH HAD TO ALWAYS JIGGLE KEY AFTER THAT. 2 YEARS LATER GETTING WORSE SHUTS OFF BY SELF PERIODUCALLY IGNITION SWITCH NEVER REPLACED RIGHT.

SOMETIMES MY BLINKER WILL STOP WORKING. YOU CAN HEAR IT GOING BUT YOU WILL NOT SEE IT APPEAR ON THE DASH AND THE IT WILL START WORKING AGAIN AFTER A WHILE. ALSO THERE IS TIMES WHERE I'VE JUST USED THE BLINKER AND THEN IT WILL CONTINUE TO SOUND LIKE IT'S STILL BLINKING BUT IT'S NOT ON JUST THE SOUND OF THE BLINKER IS STILL GOING. I FEAR THIS IS RELATED TO THE GM RECALLS ON THE UNINTENDED KEY ROTATION WHICH MY CAR IS COVERED AND THE CYLINDER LOCK REPLACEMENTS ON CERTAIN VEHICLES WHICH I AM NOT COVERED. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 14 YEARS & HAVE MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH IT IN THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TO 3 TIMES IN THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR AND NEVER DID WORK PROPERTY; I HAD TO HAVE THE INTAKE GASKET DONE & THE HEAD GASKET DONE; I TOO HAD AN ISSUE W/ THE ABS LIGHT BEING ON AND A WIRE OR SOMETHING WAS OFF. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THIS VEHICLE MAY ALSO HAVE HAD A IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM LIKE LATER MODELS. I BELIEVE THAT LOOKING INTO THESE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES IN EARLIER MODELS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. FOR THE LAST 3.5 YEARS I HAVE JUST EXPLAINED MY DAUGHTERS ACCIDENT AS JUST AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT, BUT AFTER SEEING SOME OF THE CRASH SCENE PHOTOS FROM A NEWER VEHICLE ACCIDENTS THEY SEEM TOO FAMILIAR TO WHAT MY DAUGHTERS ACCIDENT LOOKED LIKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
THIS CAR HAD THIS PROBLEM WHEN I BOUGHT IT BUT I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE, I HAD TO BUY SOMETHING. BESIDES, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY "THOUGHT" THAT THEY MAY HAVE FIXED IT....WRONG! WHEN THEY HAD THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR, APPARENTLY EVERYTHING WAS CHECKED & REPLACED BUT WITH NO LUCK. THE 02 SENSOR WAS REPLACED A COUPLE TIMES, TUNE UPS, FUEL FILTERS, ETC....THEY EVEN HOOKED IT UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND IT DIDN'T DETECT A THING. I AM NO EXPERT BUT............1ST OF ALL; THE CAR ONLY STALLS WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. I COULD BE DOING 65 DOWN THE HIGHWAY, BUT AS SOON AS I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS....DEAD! THE CAR TOTALLY CUTS OFF. NO FUNNY SOUNDS, HESITATION, SMELLS, ETC. IT JUST DIES. WHEN I 1ST START THE CAR (THE INITIAL START UP), I MAKE IT ABOUT A COUPLE BLOCKS BEFORE I HAVE...
PASSLOCK/SECURITY LIGHT MALFUNCTION. WHEN STARTING THE CAR, THE SECURITY LIGHT WILL FLASH AND NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO COMPLETELY START. ENGINE WILL CRANK BUT NOT TURN OVER. LEAVE THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION FOR 10 MINUTES AND THE SYSTEM WILL RESET AND THE CAR WILL START. A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE SAME PROBLEMS WILL HAPPEN. SOMETIMES DURING DRIVING, RED SECURITY LIGHT WILL COME ON, BUT WILL NOT AFFECT ANYTHING TO IMPAIR DRIVING. WAS TOLD IGNITION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS AFTER IT HAS BEEN FIXED. *TR
MY 2000 PONTIAC GRAND AM GT WITH ONLY 65000 MILES HAS RECENTLY DEVELOPED THE SECURITY LIGHT ON THE IP, AND HAS NOT STARTED ONCE (ONLY OWNER). I TAKE CARE OF MY VEHICLES AND HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL NOW. THE LIGHT TURNS ON FREQUENTLY, AND IS UPSETTING TO NOT KNOW IF IT WILL START AND YOU'LL BE STRANDED FOR A WHILE. I JUST BOUGHT A NEW G-8 LAST SUMMER. I ALSO OWN A TAHOE. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE A TSB SOFTWARE FIX FOR THE NUMEROUS PEOPLE THAT CONTINUE TO SUPPORT GM PRODUCTS. THE SECURITY FEATURE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO PROPERLY START MY CAR. THE SECURITY LIGHT IN THE CAR THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OF THE DASH BOARD DISPLAY FLASHES . I THEN HAVE TO WAIT 10 MIN OR REMOVE POWER I.E. DISCONNECT ONE TERMINAL OF THE BATTERY RECONNECT IT THEN HOPE THE CAR WILL START. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 PONTIAC GRAND AM. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START BECAUSE OF THE PASS LOCK SYSTEM. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC BUT THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER WANTED TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE BUT HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM THE TUMBLERS IN THE IGNITION AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR DOES NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT HE COULD POTENTIALLY BECOME STRANDED WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT YET ANOTHER CUSTOMER THAT HAS A PONTIAC GRAND AM WITH THE PASS KEY SECURITY SYSTEM DEFECT. IT OCCURS AT RANDOM INTERVALS. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON FOR IT. I AM ON A SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM. MY ABILITY TO HAVE A RELIABLE VEHICLE IS ESSENTIAL TO ME PERFORMING MY DUTIES SAFELY AND RELIABLY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME REASON AND YET THE MANUFACTURERS DO NOTHING TO RESOLVE IT. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE YET, BUT REST ASSURED, MY NEXT VEHICLE WILL NOT SUPPORT A COMPANY THAT PERMITS THIS TO CONTINUE. SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR WON'T START. FROM WHAT I HAVE INVESTIGATED IT SOUNDS LIKE THE PASSLOCK MODULE IS HAVING ISSUES. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS AND THE MECHANICS TROUBLE SHOOT BY CHANGING OUT PART THAT HAVE COST ME OVER A $1000 BUT STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN I CAN'T START THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS TO PUT IT IN THE ACC MODE UNTIL THE LIGHT IS SOLID. BUT THAT TAKES 10 MINUTES. THE FAILURE TO START COMES IN DAILY, AND TAKE ME TEN OR TWENTY MINUTES TO STAR MY CAR. THE PASS-LOCK FEATURE FOR THE CAR IN MALFUNCTION. AND NOW I HAVE TO RESET DAILY. HOPEFULLY I HAVE NO LIFE THREATEN SITUATIONS I WILL HAVE TO WAIT TEN OR TWENTY MINUTES TO START MY CAR. THE IGNITION SOLENOID HAS BEEN REPLACE BY THE DEALERSHIP AND NOW SAME PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. *TR
THE SECURITY LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND I WAS UNABLE TO START THE CAR. I TOOK IT TO A PONTIAC DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE BODY CONTROL MODULE TWICE. THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED NOW BUT TOOK SEVERAL SERVICES TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP, HEAD GASKET. THERMOSTAT AND VALVE COVER GASKET 3 TIMES. REPLACED ALL GASKETS TWICE. HEADLIGHT STAY ON AT ALL TIMES WHEN CAR IS RUNNING. *TR
THE SECURITY PASSLOCK IS MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN, I HAVE SPENT $1,500.00 TRYING TO GET IT FIXED WHICH WAS 4 TIMES IN THE SHOP AND EACH TIME THEY SAID THEY THOUGHT THEY GOT IT FIXED. THE PASSLOCK CUTS OFF THE GAS TO THE ENGINE I CAN BE ANYWHERE SHUT OFF THE ENGINE COME BACK AND TRY TO START THE CAR AND IT WILL NOT START AND THE SECURITY LIGHT IS ON. *TR
