2018 NISSAN ROGUE Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Driving 55 mph down road when my 2018 Nissan rogue SL AWD automatically slammed on the brakes by itself. Lights on the dashboard flashed and it made horrible breaking sound The force flung me forward but seat belt locked up holding me in place. There was absolutely nothing or no one fffcccffin front me. Luckily no one was behind me eor they would’ve hit me. Can’t figure out a way to turn off this safety collision feature because it’s a put hazard!

Randomly when driving, the pedestrian crossing message will show in the dash and the brakes will kick on. It's happened too many times. The Nissan logo has been cleaned and the radar sensor does not have any fault codes showing. But the emergency brake will kick on and it has almost caused accidents.

It has happened where I am driving on the highway with big vehicle's are next to me and it will brake and take me from 65 miles per hour down to 30 mph quickly . I always hope that no one is in back of me I fear that i will get in a accident for no reason . Please put a recall on this system !

Since my purchase of my Rogue 2.5 years ago, it has randomly given a warning and braked out of nowhere. With no cars around, in front or behind, it was alarming. Since purchasing the car, this issue has occured, at least 15-20 random times, with the scariest being on the interstate. When the brakes slammed (out of my control) on the interstate, I was terrified a car behind me would rear end me. Luckily the car behind me was too far back but I could tell they were aggravated that I braked out of nowhere on the interstate. Dangerous! I plan on getting rid of this car after only 2 years!

While driving, the front collision warning activated, immediately followed by the automatic emergency brake system activating. This made my car break suddenly, attempting to stop in the middle of traffic without warning. There was nothing in front of me that could have activated the systems. This occurred twice in the past week.

Front collision sensor failed to alert the driver and stop the car resulting in a collision. Traveling speed just over 5 mph. Safety system was turned on and should have been operational. No warnings the sensor was dirty and not functioning properly.

Crush warning light continues to flicker and car suddenly came to a stop when accelerating onto the freeway. It is struggling to accelerate and feels like I am pushing it too far anytime I try. The dealer replaced my transmission but it continues to have the same issues.

last year the car was taken to the local Nissan dealer, all of a sudden the car battery needs Jump; it cost me 600 dollars and now the car is doing the same again; on the Nissan blog many 2018 Rogue owners experience the same issue. also there are all kind of warning lights coming up in my instrument panel scheduled as collision warning, parking. every time experience this I have taken the vehicle to a local Nissan dealer located in Doral, Florida. I have a 5 year old son and many times the car behaves erratic fearing for the life of my son and I, not to mentioned the times the vehicle won't start at a parking lot.

My car is breaking on its own. I have a malfuction warning on the dash. I took the car to the dealership and they reprogrammed it the first time in December of 2021. The second time, they wanted me to pay $1800 to fix in October 2022. This is a major issue that keeps reoccurring and I am scared I will get rear ended one day. This has happened again today.

I purchased this vehicle from carmax in November. I didn't even have it for a month and there quite a few things wrong. When I took it back to the dealership they "Couldn't recreate the problem" but wouldn't Give me Back my car. They kept it for 6 months. In that time they ended up doing a bunch of repairs, including putting in a new transmission. I have not had it back for a full week and driving to work it was very resistant to go at all. I made the mistake of getting on the freeway, where I couldn't get off until the next exit. My rpms went to and stayed at 6000 and I had no idea why and my crashing car with a star Symbol was illuminated,(and still is) for the whole way. I got off the freeway turned off my car. The AEB sensors are not working. The sensor will have to be replaced. The current lights are on my car: car with squiggly lines, warning triangle, and O/D Off.

My car randomly stopped while I was driving. There was nothing directly in front of me that could have triggered the ABS or Forward Collision for my car to break. A warning symbol popped up on the dashboard and the car made a complete stop. The experience was incredibly scary and if someone were driving behind me it could have caused a rear ending accident. I am in fear that this situation could happen while I'm driving on the highway, where it is much easier for a collision to happen.

In the past two weeks my emergency braking system warned me and slightly breaker when I was driving uphill with no obstacles in my path. Now my front safety aids don’t work at all. No emergency breaking, no lane departure or lane recognition. The dealership has worked on it twice, now going in for a third time next Monday. It’s dangerous and it keeps glitching, going on and off randomly.

While driving at about 40 mph in the city the Automatic Emergency Brake gets engaged and i heard few beeps, the light of the AEB lit up in the dashboard and the car slows down suddenly. I had this issue before in 2018 very frequently when i purchased the car and reported to Nissan. Nissan did make a software modification in 2019 and it did slow down on the number of times this issue occurred but it still happened here and there. I noticed that only thing that was happening was the beeping but the car never broke down the speed. Yesterday 4/26/2022 it happened again where the car broke down the speed with no obstacle in front, just like it used to happen in 2018.

I was driving 50mph in a 50mph zone and the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated emergency braking, bringing vehicle to an immediate halt in a lane of traffic. Conditions were wet from earlier rainfall; however, no hazards or vehicles were immediately in front of me. This activation tugged on my seatbelt and chest and collarbone resulting in pain while the vehicle lunged me forward. Due to the immediate breaking of my vehicle, vehicles behind me were forced to quickly break or make a lane change. If the vehicles behind me were not responsive enough, I would’ve been struck by a vehicle going 40-50mph. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected; however, this has happened 3-4 other times with no attention to the matter.

While driving at a speed of about 15 mile per hour my car's automatic braking system engaged with no other vehicles or obstructions around. My car came to a sudden stop and when I hit the gas it was still kept from moving by the brakes. I did not see any emergency light and when I took it to the dealer they said there was no record of the emergency braking system being engaged.

The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle suddenly seized due to the car safety sensor for the front of the vehicle suddenly activating with no vehicle's in front or on the sides of the vehicle to cause it to activate. The contact had pressed the accelerator pedal immediately after and the vehicle functioned as anticipated. The contact had spoken to the dealer however the vehicle had not been officially diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage is 41,000.

Every time I drive the vehicle, a "Malfunction" warning appears after several beeps. It displays a collision icon, and states "See Owner's Manual". However, this does not appear in the owner's manual. Additionally, every time I drive the vehicle, there are several beeps and both a "warning (!)" and "collision" icon appear before a message stating that there is "front radar obstruction", despite there being no obstruction. The third and final, and most dangerous issue has happened once in the six days I've had the car so far: A warning appeared that there was a driver on my left that was too close to me despite there not being a vehicle on my left. The emergency brake immediately turned on and slowed my car to a near stop. This happened on the highway in a 65 mph zone. This put my safety and the safety of others at immense risk...

The emergency brake turns on automatically while driving, it pulls the car, so you can't drive. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident. It can be a life and death situation because the car just slows down automatically without you touching anything. Then the forward collision light goes on. When you take the emergency break light off, and turn the car off, the collision light goes off. It has happened to us twice and I have read online that it has happened to others as well. This is very dangerous as it puts everyone's life at risk.

In sum, vehicle was traveling at 35mph with no obstructions or vehicles in the front of my vehicle and forward collision warning activated, bringing vehicle to a complete stop. Breaks squealed and tire rubber burned onto pavement. Seatbelt clenched torso, leaving bruise on collar bone. Another occurrence was similar in speed, with no obstacles or vehicles in front of mine. The forward collision warning began beeping but not displaying any visuals or breaking vehicle.

In sum, on 7/22/2020, my vehicle was traveling approximately 55mph southbound Interstate 90/94 at Harrison when the forward collision warning activated, and emergency braking occurred. Vehicle speed was reduced to 25mph for several seconds, then alert disengaged. There were no vehicles or obstacles immediately in front of my vehicle, however there were several vehicles behind me and within the lanes on either side of me. The emergency breaking caused my seatbelt to lock, and distract me with auditory and visual alerts, and cause the vehicles behind me to slam on their breaks. This incident could have resulted in a massive pile-up collision. No warning lamps or messages were present prior to malfunction. All warnings occurred during the few seconds of incident. Front end collision at 40mph, no braking/warning, no air bags deployed

While driving at speeds between 30-40 miles per hour my 2018 Nissan Rogue suddenly brakes with no warning. I did not touch the brakes and there was no other vehicle in front or behind me. These incidents really scared me. This Sudden braking has happened six different times between November, 2020 and June 2021. I took it to the dealer(Nashville Downtown Nissan) to repair it when it first happened. They said that they fixed the problem free because it was under the 30,000 mile warranty. IF I HAVE SAFETY SHIELD TURNED ON , THE CAR ATTEMPTS TO BREAK WHEN OTHER CARS DRIVE NEXT TO ME. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY CARS IN FRONT OF ME, BUT THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO BREAK. JUST BOUGHT 2018 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED OF 35 MPH , SUDDENLY FORWARD COLLISION WARNING STARTED FLASHING AND AUTOMATIC BRAKES WENT ON . THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR IN FRONT .

DRIVING EAST ON I-94 NEAR BATTLE CREEK, MI AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN CRUISE CONTROL WITH MY WIFE AND 3 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER THE BRAKES APPLIED HARD. HAD TO STAND ON THE GAS AND WAS FIGHTING THE BRAKES BRAKES THAT WERE STILL APPLIED TO GET BACK TO 60 TO KEEP FROM BEING RUN OVER. PULLED OVER AND SHUT IT OFF. FOUND ICING ON THE FRONT SENSOR. RESTARTED CAR AND FAULT CLEARED. PROCEEDED ON HIGHWAY AND IT WORKED FOR A BIT BUT FAULT SHOWED UP AGAIN BUT WITHOUT THE HARD BRAKING. SHUT OFF THE AUTO BRAKING WHICH ALSO SHUTS OFF CRUISE CONTROL. SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE USED IN DEC 2019 THERE HAS BEEN MANY OCCASIONS OF THE FORWARD ALERT FOR COLLISION ACTIVATING AND THERE WAS NO OTHER CARS NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, IT FLASHES ON THE DASH SO QUICKLY AND GOES OFF BEFORE WE CAN SEE WHAT IT'S SAYING.THERE HAS ALSO BEEN MANY OCCASIONS OF THE AUTOMATIC BREAKING ACTIVATING AND AUTO BREAKING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING ON THE INTERSTATE AND LEAVING THE INTERSTATE ONTO OFF RAMPS AS WELL AS NORMAL CITY DRIVING. THE FRONT CRASH LIGHT STARTED FLASHING OUT OF THE BLUE AND THEN THE CAR SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND BROUGHT IT TO A COMPLETE STOP AND IT WAS A COMPLETELY CLEAR NIGHT WITH NO TRAFFIC AROUND ME. THERE WAS ZERO REASON FOR IT TO DO THAT! I WAS GOING ALMOST 70 MPH ON A COUNTRY ROAD AND THERE WAS NOT AN ANIMAL OR ANOTHER CAR ANYWHERE IN SIGHT. IT HAPPENED TWICE THAT THE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FIRST TIME, I PULLED OVER, KILLED THE CAR, OPENED MY DOOR AND RESET IT AND STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. IT CAME ON AGAIN AND THEN SLAMMED THE BRAKES ON. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME OR I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT! I TOOK A VIDEO JUST PRIOR TO THE CAR SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES.
