2018 NISSAN ROGUE Forward Collision Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking Problems

AEB system engaged momentarily with no external stimulus to cause it to do so. This has happened twice in about the last three weeks or so. The momentary (probably less than a second) response of the system was noticeable but did not cause an accident or other issue. The system dash light also illuminated and then turned off.

Driving 55 mph down road when my 2018 Nissan rogue SL AWD automatically slammed on the brakes by itself. Lights on the dashboard flashed and it made horrible breaking sound The force flung me forward but seat belt locked up holding me in place. There was absolutely nothing or no one fffcccffin front me. Luckily no one was behind me eor they would’ve hit me. Can’t figure out a way to turn off this safety collision feature because it’s a put hazard!

Randomly when driving, the pedestrian crossing message will show in the dash and the brakes will kick on. It's happened too many times. The Nissan logo has been cleaned and the radar sensor does not have any fault codes showing. But the emergency brake will kick on and it has almost caused accidents.

While driving at approximately 15–20 mph, my vehicle suddenly started beeping and displayed a quick warning message on the dashboard before the brakes locked up on their own. The incident lasted only a few seconds, but it was extremely alarming. This same issue has now happened twice, both times in the exact same location on the same road, driving at about the same speed. The first incident was roughly around [XXX], the second incident was [XXX]. On both occasions, I had my [XXX] twin daughters in the car with me, and it frightened all of us. Thankfully, there were no vehicles directly behind me either time, otherwise it could have resulted in a rear-end collision. Engine seems very weak. Not enough power to safely pass on a highway. Absolutely gutless and sometimes upon acceleration and/or braking it jerks.

The backup camera picture/screen has randomly cut out while backing up putting myself and whatever is behind me at risk for collision. In the section where it asks for the date, it's happens randomly since I bought it. Whenever I've taken it to my mechanic they have not been able to reproduce it. The emergency braking system has activated with nothing around. It's in the dealers now. It was listed as a recall on a RI safety but not associated with my vin so the nissan dealer is saying that it's not covered under recall because it shows only the brake recall. the software update is costing me 169. He says that it should fix both problems.

It has happened where I am driving on the highway with big vehicle's are next to me and it will brake and take me from 65 miles per hour down to 30 mph quickly . I always hope that no one is in back of me I fear that i will get in a accident for no reason . Please put a recall on this system !

On Friday, 24 Jan 25, at highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system unexpectedly engaged three times. On Sunday, 26 Jan 25, while in a neighborhood street the AEB engaged unexpectedly at 25 mph. That same day at highway speeds between 60 and 70 mph the AEB system unexpectedly engaged four times. Additionally, on that day the AEB warning light flashed and a chime was heard, but the system did not brake two times. This car was at a Nissan dealer on 2 Dec 2019 for recall 1-P9327 - Rogue AEB NTB19-064 and recall 2 - R1911 - NIS AV CONT UNIT MULTI TSB

At 3 separate times while driving my car just suddenly brakes and one of the times was doing between 40 and 50 with no other car around and suddenly with no warning car starts beeping and comes to an abrupt halt jacking the seatbelt tight and coming to a complete stop then proceeding along as if nothing happened.

Since I purchased my car in September of 2022, a 2018 Nissan Rogue SL AWD, whenever I drive down to Houston, TX, my AEB symbol (2 cars crashing symbol) flashes. This is consistent with me going to Houston about once a month, and I've driven elsewhere fine. I've driven throughout North TX, and to Louisiana, but every time without fail, my car gets the AEB sensor light. It flashes, and sometimes will go off for a day or two if I'm down there, but comes back on no matter what.

This is about the 4th incident where when I am driving my car and all of a sudden a message flashes on the dashboard and the car brakes hard, while my foot is still on the gas. There are no other vehicles in front of me or icy roads. I am in the process of bringing to the dealer I purchased it from to run a diagnostics, but from what I have read this issue has been happening a lot with the 2018 models. I do not want to wait until I have an accident for this issue to be acknowledged or repaired.

My rogue has randomly just gave me a warning and slammed on my breaks without an obstacle in site. Now the malfunction light keeps coming on. This is starting to get very frustrating. I have on this car for 3 years. It only had 19000 miles on it when purchased. It now has 81000. I am afraid this is going to cause a fatal accident.

While driving on a clear day on an open road going about 50 MPH my car made the emergency alert noise for a forward collision and slammed on the brakes. Nothing was in front of me and the event almost caused an accident.

The AEB Braking malfunction light keeps coming on, i shut it off but it comes back on. I’m afraid it will do an emergency stop and cause the vehicle behind will hit me. No recall has been done by Nissan. I need help so I will feel safe driving my car.

While driving, the front collision warning activated, immediately followed by the automatic emergency brake system activating. This made my car break suddenly, attempting to stop in the middle of traffic without warning. There was nothing in front of me that could have activated the systems. This occurred twice in the past week.

AEB warning light came on while driving and there was no object in sight.The light remained on the car was driving sporadically. Did not know what was wrong until I got home and looked at my manual. This was the 1st time it happened and it was frightening. This occurred 5/1/24.

Front collision sensor failed to alert the driver and stop the car resulting in a collision. Traveling speed just over 5 mph. Safety system was turned on and should have been operational. No warnings the sensor was dirty and not functioning properly.

Crush warning light continues to flicker and car suddenly came to a stop when accelerating onto the freeway. It is struggling to accelerate and feels like I am pushing it too far anytime I try. The dealer replaced my transmission but it continues to have the same issues.

Sudden braking while driving, with no reason or cause. No objects or vehicles in front to cause it to happen. It has occurred multiple times without warnings, putting my family and I in jeopardy.

My car is breaking on its own. I have a malfuction warning on the dash. I took the car to the dealership and they reprogrammed it the first time in December of 2021. The second time, they wanted me to pay $1800 to fix in October 2022. This is a major issue that keeps reoccurring and I am scared I will get rear ended one day. This has happened again today.

- Automatic Emergency Brake Malfunction. Was driving when suddenly without warning the vehicle started braking - flashing lights on dashboard. It all happened so fast and brief I did not see what the warning said. - At the time I did not know if it was the vehicle braking or a transmission issue, but after the event everything was back to normal. - My mechanic scanned the vehicle next morning and said there was an AEB incident recorded. - I have since turned the AEB feature off upon starting the car each time, but a warning will always pop up while driving - System Malfunction.

My Car will stop suddenly, and unpredictably at various times. The car will stop and sometimes shake as it acts like its stalling out and an emergency light flashes up briefly. This has almost caused us to be in multiple wrecks. I am scared to drive this car and scared to have my children in the car. This is so unpredictable; it cannot be diagnosed at just any time. I'm not sure what to do but am super fearful this is going to cause a wreck and we could be injured and possibly injure others as this happens at any time and comes to a complete stop. Please help! This started from a few weeks after we purchased in 2021 but has got to be more frequent as of the last 3 months (2023) and worse in severity. I am very fearful.

The first time I was just pulling out of my driveway and my car, made this grinding noise and forced to stop and the braking system light came on. The second time we were going 30 to 45 miles an hour and the same thing happened made that grinding noise came to a stop that time was definitely more harder because we’re going faster. Repeated activation of the AEB system while driving above 20 mph when there are no other vehicles/objects/persons near the vehicle. Nissan has replaced the part and recalibrated the system 4 times, and the problem is still occurring.

I purchased this vehicle from carmax in November. I didn't even have it for a month and there quite a few things wrong. When I took it back to the dealership they "Couldn't recreate the problem" but wouldn't Give me Back my car. They kept it for 6 months. In that time they ended up doing a bunch of repairs, including putting in a new transmission. I have not had it back for a full week and driving to work it was very resistant to go at all. While turning into a busy intersection the automatic emergency braking engaged even though I had manually disabled it causing my vehicle to be stopped in intersection and when I tried to accelerate the car would not move and the AEB light came on as well as a triangle with exclamation point symbol telling me to check owner’s manual due to malfunction. There were no cars, people, or other obstructions in front of vehicle but there were vehicles behind me and my children and I could have all been injured had they collided with my vehicle due to the sudden stop/loss of power in intersection. I was driving about 20mph or less on a street, there was no one in front or back of me luckily. But all of sudden my sensors started blinking my car started to break on its own like wheels starting to lock the sensors blinked so fast I couldn't see what it was as I was watching road to make sure no one is around. It did it a few seconds and I was able to press on gas pedal and keep driving. If someone was in back of me I would of got in a accident.

On Friday April 21, 2023 I was operating my vehicle with my toddler inside going about 30 miles per hour when suddenly out of no where with No Warning my vehicle beeped rapidly 5 times and as it was beeping it intensely braked itself and/or slowed down immediately while at a speed of about 30 miles per hour. Since I bought the car numerous times(over 50) the car stops or the brakes activate automatically for no apparent reason. Three times my daughter came extremely close to getting into a major accident being that the car behind literally touched the back bumper. I’m afraid of letting my daughter drive it as the car was bought for her, as I’m afraid she’ll get into an accident. In the first incident, I was in the middle of an intersection (going through on a green light) on a a normally busy road going approximately 35-40 mph and my automatic brake system braked hard without a warning. It beeped with a warning on the dash as it simultaneously braked. Not a single car was within 100 feet in front of me and thankfully there was no one close behind me. It was a four lane highway (2 lanes each way) with a barrier. The second incident was the following day when I was coasting up to a red light. On several occasions, my car has slammed on breaks on its on. There is a warning message that appears saying either there is a malfunction or the front radar has malfunctioned. Then the car will just stall or break on its own with a screeching sound. This has been terrifying as it has happened which driving on the highway.

I have purchased certified pre-owned 2018 Nissan Rouge SL on July 17th 2021 from a Dealer in TOTOWA, NJ, 07512.Recently we encountered a serious problem, where the AEB system malfunctions suddenly and unexpectedly when there is no car or object in front of the car. we are at a speed of 65 miles per hour and almost hit by a car behind us. This situation occurred three times and we are scared to drive the car. we tried to disable the automatic breaking system, but it gets reenabled Please let us know what you want us to do with the car condition.

Driving on the highway and the automatic emergency braking system/forward collision light came on essentially braking the vehicle and engaging the engine brake. Luckily no one was behind is. Was able to limp it to the side of the road and have it towed home

At unpredictable times and road conditions, the Automatic Emergency Braking system will activate causing the car to brake/lunge in such a manner that it feels like the operator is tapping the brakes. The system then proceeds to give the operator a series of warning lights on the dash display. During all of these instances there is nothing in proximity to the vehicle. We purchased the car in May 2021. It was a used, lease turn-in Nissan Certified vehicle. It started in June of 2021 while taking the car out to college with my daughter. I'm not sure how they can claim it was certified since this has been an ongoing issue with Nissan Rogues prior to May 2021. The AEB sensors are not working. The sensor will have to be replaced. The current lights are on my car: car with squiggly lines, warning triangle, and O/D Off.

My car randomly stopped while I was driving. There was nothing directly in front of me that could have triggered the ABS or Forward Collision for my car to break. A warning symbol popped up on the dashboard and the car made a complete stop. The experience was incredibly scary and if someone were driving behind me it could have caused a rear ending accident. I am in fear that this situation could happen while I'm driving on the highway, where it is much easier for a collision to happen.

The brakes suddenly started acting funny and the car feels unsafe when braking. The brake shave been checked by two different brake shops and they claim the pads, etc. are fine. The problem started when multiple warning lights suddenly went off on our dashboard. This included the AEB System Malfunction light, traction control, check engine, and ABS lights went on. The brakes sometimes have to be pressed down farther than normal and the abs breaks activate in normal braking situations.

In the past two weeks my emergency braking system warned me and slightly breaker when I was driving uphill with no obstacles in my path. Now my front safety aids don’t work at all. No emergency breaking, no lane departure or lane recognition. The dealership has worked on it twice, now going in for a third time next Monday. It’s dangerous and it keeps glitching, going on and off randomly.

My 2018 Nissan Rogue AEB function triggers with no obstacles in view causing the vehicle to slow down creating a safety hazard. The emergency braking system on several occasions has beeped as though it was going to engage when no vehicles we’re around and on at least 3 occasions it has engaged when no vehicles were around. I brought it to the dealership to “update” the system, but the problem still occurs.

Was driving down the road and the AEB light came on. There was no reason for the sensor to go off. After about a minute, the alert came on my dash saying there was a malfunction. I’ve tried cleaning the sensors, turning the car on and off, and even turning the emergency breaks off. The sensor is still alerting after being in the car for around 5 minutes. The breaks haven’t abruptly stopped as of yet, however they have slowed the vehicle down while I’ve tried to accelerate to keep up with the flow of traffic.

The car REPEATEDLY emergency brakes when it is not supposed to, sometimes in dangerous situations when cars behind may rear end the vehicle. It mostly happens when there are dips or bumps in the road. For example, roads that curve and dip through foothills. Another example is going through parking garages where the road ahead ramps up. It happens at a variety of speeds and has been intermittenly happening since purchasing the vehicle. I am only notifying now because because it happened on the freeway and it did not do this before.

Emergency brakes are activating when there is no obstacle in front of vehicle. Has happened on several occasions. Could potentially cause a rear end accident.

We purchased this vehicle in April of 2019. Since it was purchased there has been 20 or more cases of the Automatic Emergency Braking activating itself, without any visible trigger. We have been to the dealership multiple times and they told us it wasn’t a problem. Finally after the fourth or fifth time we were told there was a “service bulletin” to replace one of the sensors, but were also told “Nissan would not admit a problem, so don’t expect a recall.” My wife has almost been run over by 18-wheelers because of this system. One truck actually had to hit a ditch and damage his bumper to avoid her. This has happened at many different speeds, in many different road conditions, and in many different weather patterns.

As you are driving down the road with other vehicle around my car will break itself as if i was about to hit someone from the back.

Car stopped in the middle of the street. Two different screens popped up one was Yellow the other was Red and white one said MALFUNCTION and explanation mark.

I was going to work on pa turnpike was driving 70 mph 6:30 am there was nothing in front of me the automatic emergency braking system stoped my car for no reason thank God no one behind me like tractor trailer or I would have been killed I know there are problems with this system this wasn't the first time like the third time it happened also my warning light came on said obstructed don't know but was not safe they need to recall this and find a solution how many of these automatic emergency braking system stoped other's it is very unsafe when your on a highways or any road

i am driving a 2018 Nissan rogue, currently has 65000miles on it. May 1st 2022 8 pm, while i was driving at 35 miles per hour, the car suddenly triggered its emergency brake and brought the car to a full stop in the middle of the road. there is no obstruction around me at all. imagine this happens on a heavy traffic highway, i can be killed this way.
