Car was hit
Check engine light comes on and then the engine sputters as the car slowly shuts off. Safety at risk because it happened while I was on highway
My car engine randomly shut down while in drive and would not drive on two occasions. Nissan cannot find any evidence that anything is wrong with my car. They refuse to assist despite this being a known issue. They told me I should pay to take it to another Nissan dealership to pay for another diagnostic test. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost automotive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was scanned with an OBD2 scanner with a transmission sensor failure. In addition, several days later, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost automotive power. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the road, where an independent mechanic arrived at the scene and diagnosed the vehicle. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to a local garage. The local dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Have had this car for over a year and have been dealing with it constantly going into limp mode randomly throughout the day, usually when driving in stop and go traffic. Prior to going into limp mode (won't shift out of first gear), it lags for about 5 seconds while pressing the acceleration pedal and does not move. It's a huge safety issue when having to turn with oncoming traffic. I've taken the car to the dealer multiple times and Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there is any issue. When scanning with an OBD2 scanner, there are no codes associated with transmission issues. Transmission fluid has been flushed and replaced more then once since owning the car. On bad days, my car has gone into limp mode up to 6 times in one day. I've read this is a common problem with this year and model of car yet there...
Pungent gasoline odor permeating throughout the vehicle.
I bought Nissan Rogue 2017 in 2021, but I have been having issues with tires, even though i had pump it and went to repair the tire many times, I received a notice for key recall in 2023, I went for to Evan Mills Nissan dealer in March 2023, They just straighten the key, that I should not bend the key, and I have been having issues with car engine light, ABS and Malfunction's, I have, this car had shut off four times while driving. brakes & engine shut off while driving On [XXX]. I was driving in Chicopee MA, the moment I inserted the key, while driving, the car suddenly accelerated, could not control the brakes, jack up and suddenly turned off, while driving with my kids in it, the speed sensor decrease and not accelerated at all, I took it to scanning at emission test, I changed part...
Slipping and hard shifting of the transmission
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Transmission failed at 35K miles. I am getting the car fixed. we can ask nissan dealership to share failed transmission for inspection How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car was missing when driving and completely lost transmission. Car woudnt move when out in gear. I had to get car towed to mechanic and nissan service center Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, NISSAN dealership confirmed that transmission has failed and needs to be replaced with new Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, inspected by NISSAN service center Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No...
There’s a problem with the transmission. The car was not accelerating so my mechanic looked at it and determined it need a new transmission. The car only has 81,300 miles on it.
Radiator cooling fan defect that causes safety hazards and costly repairs. There's even an active class action claim filed against Nissan in Tennessee federal court Case No.[XXX]. My vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center who agreed and acknowledged the shop has experienced multiple customers who've had the same issue and repairs needed, with 2016-2020 Nissans especially. The dealership itself quoted $1800 for repairs! I'm a pretty proactive person, so caught the issue before my engine overheated and any warning lights turned on, but noticed when the radiator fan stopped turning once car was idled. Just want to make NHTSA aware of this ongoing issue and danger this can potentially be for Nissan consumers. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Car stops accelerating when the engine get hot. It happens all the time. I was not made aware of any issues with the car when I purchase it . This apparently is a known issue and a teenager drives the car. Mechanic states the whole transmission needs to be replaced.
I was driving on [XXX], close to [XXX] but my lights ( engine and tire were on ),when suddenly I lost the control and I hit on the wall. The steering wheel was a little hard and the mechanic told me my CATALYST wasn't good( engine and tire sensor aren't working correctly ). I thought it was my last day because that freeway is a little hight. I imaged my car flying. ALSO I HAVE 1 ACCIDENT . I CRASHED ONE CAR BUT IT WASNT MY BLAME. The car lost the control. Now I have to pay but it is expensive for me INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My daughters vehicle 2017 Nissan Rogue has been jerking for months now. No check engine has been on. I have been told it is likely a transmission problem After doing some research this has been an ongoing problem with the Nissan Rogue but no recall has been issued in the state of Oklahoma. It also doesn’t help that it has over 100,000 miles now. This is not an affordable fix but Nissan needs to fix it and others who are having the issue before someone gets hurt or it causes accidents If a recall and settlement has been made in other states all states should have been included Nissan knew this was a problem and failed to handle it accordingly
My tranmission is not liable. My vehicle jerks, steering wheel vibrates when I hold it at a speed like 45. I have written you before. Nothing will be done. I waiting for it to just die and not move. I know a lot of Nissan Roque have Transmission problems and there is a recall out there. But since mine doesn't show any codes nothing will be done. I don't understand why wait before it does leave me stranded. Or maybe I have a lemon of a vehicle
My vehicle is starting to jerk at times. Doesn't do it all the time, but it is bad. When driving it will jerk, and if the speed is 45 mph and you hold it at that speed the steering wheel will shake. The engine doesn't sound right. I have had it checked and it is the transmission. Yes there's is a recall on it. But since no lights have come on the Transmission can not be replaced. Something needs to be done before I am stranded some where. Don't know what the big deal is for you to fix it when you know there are problems with it.
Vehicle consistently loses power, very loud noise as it is revving up, no lights are on for warnings, sounds as if it is trying to change gears but will not. The a/c also quits working during small climbs or long trips or especially in hilly areas.
Around 80,000 miles our car, when it's been driven about an hour, starts to hesitate when I escalate when slowed or stopped. It's about a 3 second hesitation that is very dangerous if I try to drive across a busy 4 lane road. I have come very close to being hit several times due to this hesitation. I am very aware there has been lawsuits in regards to this. I read in the lawsuit that Nissan put some sort of chip in the engine to allow it to last longer but it also causes this hesitation when the engine gets warm. In order to stop this, I have to literally shut the car off, back on, then this hesitation stops for awhile. It's as if the microchip has been rebooted or something when the car is shut off. I called the dealership here an they say they never heard of...
The contact owned a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH and turning, the vehicle had shut off independently which caused the contact to get rear-ended. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle shutting off caused the crash. The air bags did deploy. The contact was not sure how fast the other vehicle was going at the time of the crash. A police report was filed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to reach out to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 101,500.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally stalled while idling. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle operated as needed. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle independently decelerated with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the intake manifold had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to parts being on back order. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.
On multiple occasions this vehicle has lost power whilst driving on public roads including but not limited to interstate roadways. The vehicle will be operating normally at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour (depending on the posted speed limit) and will suddenly lose power and speed to such a degree that it is unsafe and the speed cannot be regained. Vehicle has been inspected and "fixed" on multiple occasions, in multiple states including but not limited to Missouri and South Carolina where the incidents have occurred, however the issue has continued to occur. The locations the vehicle has been inspected and "fixed" include both dealerships and independently owned garage repair shops. The Nissan dealership has advised this issue is not under warrantee and is not part of a recall. They have advised there is a recall of the engine of the 2017 Nissan Rogue Electric vehicle only for...
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and lost motive power. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with exhaust manifold, air-fuel ratio sensor, and O2 sensor failures. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to Voluntary Emission Recall Campaign PC717, but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000.
As I was driving, steadily pressing on my gas, and I felt the car stopping. The car sounded like it was in neutral and I was pressing on the gas but it didn’t make a difference. I pulled over put it in park, then drive again. The problem persisted. I turned off the car and then it drove regularly. This has occurred 2 times already. I use premium gasoline and get oil changes regularly. This seems like a transmission problem. I’m very scared this might happen when I’m on a highway.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE MY 2017 NISSAN ROGUE, it acts up at the worst times when I'm trying to cross a busy street with oncoming traffic, sometimes very high speed, I cannot get sufficient acceleration!! I HAVE COME SO CLOSE TO GETTING HIT THAT NOW I AM CONVINCED, IN A MATTER OF "WHEN", THAT I WILL BE HIT!! I am aware that You and Nissan are aware of the CVT being a problem that no one wants to take responsibility for. I'm keeping this report so "when I get hit" a lawsuit will be forthcoming. (Even if I die) I've instructed family to sue if I parish.
After doing errands or driving for more then about 45 mins when I come to a stop light complete stop then try to go the car goes no we’re revs up but doesn’t go then all of a sudden jolts forward now it’s everyday when I drive to just drop kids at school almost got hit twice because car would not go . Also there is horrible grinding sound now coming from back end sounds like
-engine light was on and nissan ran a diagnostic and found the code number p0603 and needs a new ECM -this could cause an accident as the driver can loose control of vehicle at any moment causing the driver and others at high risk -the problem was confirmed by the dealer service center -the engine light was the only indicator and other private car auto body stated the battery needed replacement but nissan ran a diagnostic to find it was the ECM.
The car jerks a lot. Even if my foot is on the brake it keeps forward can easily hit a car in front of me. Took it to dealership paid almost $3000 and they told me they did the work yet the next day after picking the car up engine light was on again and the jerking while driving just got worse a lot of other nissan rouge has complain about these same situation
2017 NISSAN ROGUE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ILLUMINATED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
issue started with crank no start, internal lights flashing, then power steering and check engine light came on. after a few more tries starting vehicle, driver side window stops functioning, all internal lights are flashing when any button is pressed, and key fob stops connecting to the vehicle.
When driving the vehicle on the highway, it suddenly felt like it is decelerating (slowing down ready to stall or completely stop). This all happened suddenly. It continued to move forward, but there was a large "malfunction" sign that showed up in the middle of the dash screen. It was extremely dangerous, as I was driving my 1.5 year old grandchild home from daycare. After having the vehicle connected to a auto diagnostic machine, the codes that came up were part of a known Nissan issue (Service Bulletin: NTB18-077, APPLIED TRANSMISSION: CVT (RE0F10D)).
When I am at a complete stop and I press on the accelerator, the car will lurch forward very slowly. This has happened many times while driving in heavy traffic and it is very unsafe.
As we are on our way driving to work, there was weird sounds coming out of the engine, we had no check engine lights turn on an advance to give us a warning. After those weird noises , we pressed on the gas the car would not move, that’s when the engine light came on and the car turned off, there was smoke coming out of the front it smelt like something was burning, we moved out of the car fast. We tried turning the car back on but it would not turn on.
To whom it may concern, My 2017 Nissan Rogue's CVT transmission went out. I was driving home on March 11, 2022 and I turned right safely into an intersection when the oncoming traffic had a green light and my vehicle stopped accelerating. We could have been hit by incoming traffic because of this. It was not until this happened that I found out that there was a class action lawsuit against Nissan due to this CVT problem. My vehicle was not displaying any warning signs, it just stopped accelerating. Nissan failed to notify their consumers about the ongoing issue with the CVT transmission on their vehicles to have the vehicle inspected prior to warranty being expired. I am a single mother, full time employee, and full time student. I purchased this vehicle in hopes of it being reliable. Instead, this malfunction, I was almost hit by incoming traffic because of...
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the check warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
Letter in the mail citing class action lawsuit VS Nissan regarding transmission issues - having same issues, car unable to start, causes battery to die.
I drive a 2017 Nissan Rogue that has just under 65K miles on it as of today. Without a prior indication of a problem from the car's warning system, I suddenly began losing transmission power and experiencing significant engine hesitation while driving yesterday, August 23, 2021. Specifically, the car would hesitate at least 3 seconds and sometimes as long as 8 seconds before engaging, thus putting me in great danger in traffic and on public roads. Additionally, the engine would begin revving up from 1 to 4+ rpms while simply trying to maintain a speed of 40 mph. This caused me to constantly have to remove my foot entirely from the accelerator, further putting me in harm's way while in traffic on both residential and highway roads. I lost control of my vehicle. I immediately proceeded home as carefully as I could manage, stored the vehicle overnight in the garage,...
My 2017 Nissan Rogue has been jerking, lurching, and there are times when the accelerator is depressed but the car does not accelerate at all It is extremely dangerous. Nissan has confirmed that the CVT has failed. This seems to be an ongoing issue with many of their vehicles and it doesn’t not feel like adequate action is being taken to remedy this.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed as an engine control module failure. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failure, but the manufacturer wanted the dealer to perform a diagnostic test before approving the replacement of the engine control module. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000. Consumer stated vehicle has been repaired.*JB
THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY AND WHEN DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY OR EVEN THE STREETS I WOULD NOTICE THAT THE CAR STARTS TO JERK BACK AND FORTH. SECONDLY I BELIEVE IT UNSAFE WHENEVER TURNING AT HIGH SPEEDS THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT CAN TIP OVER. WITHIN MY FIRST MONTH OF PURCHASING THE CAR THERE WAS TONS OF ENGINE PROBLEMS.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHAKES TREMENDOUSLY AND IS VERY, VERY NOTICEABLE WHILE HOLDING THE BRAKE. ALSO WHEN I TURN ON THE AC THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHAKES.
I WAS PURCHASED A NISSA VEHICLE FROM WESTON NISSAN AT DEC 2018, AFTER FEW MONTHS NISSAN CORPORATE CALLED ME THAT THEY NEED TO TAKE BACK TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER ONE, ENDS UP I FOUND OUT THE CAR IS NOT ORIGINAL FROM JAPAN IT WAS DEFECTIVE ONE WITH AFTERMARKET AIR BAG, AND ALL WIRES FROM AIR BAG HAS BEEN CUTTING BEFORE THE SOLD TO ME, THE CAR STILL SEATING MY GARAGE WITH NO DRIVING, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK SINCE THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINALS AS WHAT THEY SAID, I M WORRIED TO DRIVE SO I DECIDED NOT TO DRIVE IT, THANKS AGAIN
MY VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION AROUND 90,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE ACCELERATION STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS. I TOOK INTO A NISSAN AND THEY TESTED THE VEHICLE AND LET ME KNOW THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE MODEL IS A NISSAN ROGUE AND IS A 2017 MODEL...
WE WERE DRIVING SMOOTHLY ON A 5N FREEWAY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY JOLTED AND STOPPED AT EXACTLY 48K MILES, NO SENSORS WERE LIGHTING UP.I HAVE TO HAZARD LIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND TURN IT ON, SAME JOLTING MOVEMENT BUT LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT SAFE AT ROADSIDE AND ASK FOR TOWING.
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 30-45 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE, AND THE RPMS WERE SHIFTING ERRATICALLY BETWEEN 2000-4000 OR MORE. THE ISSUE WOULD CORRECT WHEN MORE SPEED WAS ATTAINED, BUT WOULD RETURN. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY, HOWEVER THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE DRASTICALLY. WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY, USING CRUISE CONTROL AT 65 MPH, THE RPMS WOULD CHANGE DRASTICALLY AGAIN. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN A FULL STOP WHEN EXITING A HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED TO REENTER TRAFFIC, THE RPMS IMMEDIATELY WENT ABOVE 6000 OR MORE, AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY, WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PLACED IN PARK, AND IGNITION TURNED OFF, AND TURNED BACK ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE TURNED ON WITHOUT ISSUE, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY TO THE ACCELERATOR BEING...
THE NISSAN HAS A SEVERE VIBRATION COMING THROUGHOUT THE CABIN AT STOPLIGHTS ON CITY STREETS. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES, THE PASSENGER VIOLENTLY VIBRATES WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT, THE HOOD SHAKES. THIS ALL HAPPENS WHILE AT IDLE, AS THE VEHICLE GETS WARMER THE ISSUES BECOMES WORSE, FOR EXAMPLE: THE VIBRATION IS LESS NOTICEABLE THE FIRST 10 MINUTES THE VEHICLE IS ON AND OPERATING, AS THE ENGINE WARMS THE ISSUE GETS WORSE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY BOTH NISSAN AND A 3-RD PARTY, WITH BOTH SAYING THE ISSUE IS VISIBLE, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS. THIS VIBRATION IS A SAFETY HAZARD, IT IS SHAKING COMPONENTS OF MY VEHICLE THAT MAY BECOME LOOSE OVER TIME AND NOT HOLD UP IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT (I.E. THE VIBRATION ON THE PASSANGER SEAT COULD CAUSE BOLTS TO BECOME LOOSE WITHOUT ME KNOWING, THEN WHEN I STEP...
WHEN DRIVING AT A MODERATE SPEED THEN SLOWING DOWN IN TRAFFIC THAT IS SLOW AND STOP AND GO, ONCE I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND GET READY TO GO AGAIN THE CAR HESITATES TO TAKE OFF. THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A TRUCK AND DOES NOT GO ABOVE 25MPH WITH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE LIGHTS THAT APPEAR ON THE DASH IS THE SAFETY CRASH AND WARNING LIGHTS. I THEN HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN FOR IT TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS 1-2 TIMES A WEEK. I AFRAID THIS GOING TO CAUSE A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO SHERIDAN NISSAN THREE TIMES. THEY ARE SAYING NOTHING IS WRONG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE BRAKED AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO POHANKA NISSAN OF FREDERICKSBURG (5200 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408, (540) 898-5200) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN A HUNDRED MILES; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE ABOUT 10 MPH. CAR SUDDENLY MAKES THIS LOUD NOISE AND SHUTS OFF. IT DID RESTART AND I DIDN'T LOSE ELECTRICAL AS I WAS ON BLUE TOOTH CALL BUT IF HAPPENED WHEN I WAS GOING FASTER THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHE! . THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THOUGH. THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN PARKING LOT AND I THOUGHT I DID SOMETHING AS IT WAS A NEW CAR. I WAS NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING BUT STEERING WHEEL AND LIGHTLY TOUCHING BRAKE AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC BUT THERE WAS QUITE SOME ROOM BETWEEN ME AND THE CAR AHEAD.
ENGINE KEEPS ON TURN OFF WITH OUT NOTICE.
A FEW TIMES ON A COOL START IN THE MORNING IT DOESN'T FULLY TURN OVER. I WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND TURN KEY AGAIN THEN IT TURNS OVER. A FEW TIME WHILE BACKING UP OUT OF MY WORK SPOT, THE CAR 'JUMPS' LIKE IT IS GOING TO KILL. AS SOON AS I HIT BRAKE IT REVS BACK UP AND THEN I CAN GO. TODAY I LEFT WORK, THEN AT A STOP SIGN MY CAR KILLED. I REALLY DIDN'T THINK MUCH, UNTIL IT KILLED. I WILL BE CALLING SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOMORROW.
