My vehicle is subject to an open safety recall (NHTSA Recall 25V-741) involving high-voltage battery separator damage that may cause a vehicle fire when parked or charging. The recall has been active on this vehicle for over four months. The manufacturer and dealers have confirmed the recall applies but have not provided a remedy timeline or parts availability. The vehicle is considered unsafe to park near structures or other vehicles and I have been advised to avoid recharging. No repair has been performed. The condition places occupants and others at risk of fire and prevents safe use of the vehicle. I am reporting this because the manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.
Jeep continues to apply bandaids to the high voltage battery system. The latest recall, 68c, is another software fix that doesnt address the root cause, high voltage battery. after the recall, the car drives horrible when in electric mode - engine kicks on all the time, loss of power until you stomp on the accelerator (which then kicks on engine). NHTSA needs to hold Jeep Stellantis accountable for selling an inferior product and take care of the customers who have supported them for the past 5 years until they stopped selling them! there are 320,000 jeeps impacted, lets fix this!!! I will be scheduling service soon, but you cant expect customers to stop our lives to live at the service center. Jeep really needs to start offering a large scale buyback OR fix the issue which would be to replace the battery with new improved updated one that doesnt become...
After 68C recall has been performed and "passed" the car will lose acceleration and power when trying to go up a hill. Will not accelerate when in electric mode.
I just had the 68C recall done to my Jeep Wrangler 4XE recently. Before the recall, it was running fine. But now, every time I go uphill in electric only mode, the car would suddenly lose power (eg. slowing down from 50 MPH to 20 MPH). Pressing the accelerator does nothing, until I fully depress it, at which point the gas engine would start and the car jerks forward. It's very dangerous with the sudden slow down and speed up for no reason.
Basically stated, death wobble, after looking up symptoms. At 65 mph on the highway, hit a bump and the entire jeep shook uncontrollably. I just purchased it used not 10 minutes prior to the incident. The dealership failed to mention this and sold it as-is.
I purchased (traded into) a 2021 Jeep Wrangler on October 31, 2024. The vehicle already had an open safety recall (68C) at the time of purchase. Shortly after, the vehicle began experiencing severe and dangerous safety failures. While driving, the Jeep suddenly goes into “turtle mode,” loses power without warning, and drops to 7–12 mph in traffic. The engine light comes on and the vehicle becomes almost undrivable. This creates an extremely hazardous situation where I could be rear-ended or left stranded on the road. This is a serious safety risk to me and to other drivers. I contacted Jeep/Stellantis Recall Customer Care to report the issue. Only after calling did I receive an email telling me I must pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle, even though the vehicle is unsafe and the recall remedy is not available. I immediately responded saying I cannot pay upfront. Since November...
I was driving on the freeway, 65mph, in Los Angeles and the '21 Jeep Wrangler 4xe started showing a bunch of error messages telling me to safely pull over, loss of propulsion, etc. I lost power and was unable to drive past 38mph. Upon getting to the end of the off-ramp and before coming to a full stop, the vehicle threw itself into parking gear. I shifted to Park, and it wouldn’t shift out of Park, while I was blocking traffic on the off-ramp, which could have been a dangerous incident. I required a tow truck. There was a Check Engine Light and a 12V battery light while I was bricked. The tow truck was unable to jump start it. The dealer provided a pre-scan report showing stored codes P0607 (ECU Internal Performance) and P1B13 (Park-By-Wire Unintended Out of Park). Refusal to Repair: The dealer just replaced the 12V battery...
My local dealer has all the documentation on this jeep. It has been into the dealership many times now the check engine light is on for another problem which I am taking it in again this weekend . When I ask the dealer, I’ve been seeing things on Facebook about these jeeps having issues they just filled me full of a bunch of Bull and says every vehicle has issues. I’ve ran the VIN number and found out that mine is one of them that just catches on fire plus sometimes shakes when it’s driving down the road but that’s been minor considering everything else. One time I was driving up the driveway and it felt like the transmission slipped or something. They said it was something in the four-wheel-drive that went out. This is a new vehicle. It has very low miles on it. I’ve had it going on...
2021 jeep wrangler 4xe , power loss twice after recall was completed in 2022. INCIDENT AFTER RECALL completed. 1st - power loss, turtle sign. got stuck in hope BC, Canada. ECU FLASH fixed it, chilliwack, BC. 57000 miles roughly. Hv battery voltage sensor ckt performance issue. 2nd time- 62000 miles roughly, ABRUPT POWER LOSS on a highway, driving in passing lane 75mph, engine check lights on, after few secs full power loss, all lights on. After 30 mins of park mode, all lights went away. Towed it to dealership. They ordered a part, and is still stuck at dealership, since 15 days. Used my judgement & managed to safely coast and avoided risk of any incident. Turtle sign, and i think and something with battery verbiage popped up. Couldn't take an image as was in reactive mode. Parked and turned off the engine, called tow truck. After coming back from...
While driving the 'service shifter' warning will flash and once this happens the steering locks up and the car shuts down. This primarily happens when hitting a bump, pot hole, railroad tracks, etc. After the warning flashes and the steering locks up, every light on the dash comes on as the car is shutting down. The vehicle is in the shop for the 3rd time within 9 months for the same issue. The dealership replaced the star link connector saying that was the issue but it is still occurring. The vehicle is currently in the shop with this issue and they are saying there is nothing wrong and 'no codes being thrown.' We have had this happen at least a dozen times on us while driving. A handful without hitting a bump or one of the specified causes. Once this happens, the car become immobile and has to be towed....
Vehicle rear locker light flashing indicating the rear locker was turned on when, leaving a retail shop, and the rear locker engaged in 2WD on its own! No indication prior to this, it came out of the blue. Tried to disengage the rear locker via selector switch but unsuccessful. Any attempts to drive were met with severe jumping and jerking of the vehicle with loud metal banging noises. Tried both reverse and forward as well as putting it in 4WD and then back to 2WD to disengage the locker. Not successful. Vehicle towed to Jeep dealership. Luckily I was in a parking lot and not on the main road. If this happened on the main road at speed, I fear I may have lost control of the vehicle as it was jerking and jumping and the vehicle was uncontrollable which would have put other drivers at risk of collision and...
Put a brand new battery in my vehicle - 3 days later driving on the highway had full loss of power - if said to service the charging system, and to put the car in park, then to press the brake and start button to start the vehicle. Went from 75MPH to 25MPH - rolled off the highway.
I was driving my 2021 Jeep wrangler and it started running poorly. I was near the dealership. I called them and told them I was headed to them asap. (I was within 3 mile range). The car died in the middle of an intersection. I could not put the car in neutral to move it out of the way of traffic. I got a tow truck to bring it to the dealership. Where they told me that the coolant tube fasteners for my vehicle were gone, and that the engine was blown, including the pump. Elbow screws were missing for the vehicle and coolant was everywhere in my vehicle. My car has 46,000 miles on it. It has had every single oil change ,reported recall done and service request to complete completed.. It has been taken very well care of and has only been to this one dealership.. according to...
While pulling into parking lot jeep suddenly accelerated deployed brakes it would not stop. Hit pillar in front of store. Did considerable damage to build and vehicle.
Timing chain tensioner gone bad
It started with the engine sounding louder then normal. Then a bad smell in the cab of the vehicle. Later found out it was a exhaust leak that was getting into the vehicle causing headaches and other symptoms of carbon monoxide. Also note the burn marks around the broken bracket that could cause a fire if not mechanically inclined to notice. Not check engine light for this. But when I spoke to the dealership it wasn't new to them. Apparently this has happened to alot of the ecodiesel jeep and gladiators. A common problem that should be resolved before and life threatening injuries result in loss of consciousness or fire.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The hybrid-electric system, including the high-voltage battery, battery pack control module (BPCM), and associated cooling systems, repeatedly malfunctioned. These failures caused loss of power while driving, electrical odors, and error messages. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for service and is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has lost power multiple times while in motion, including on city streets and highways. These unexpected power losses significantly increased the risk of rear-end collisions and limited my ability to safely accelerate or steer in traffic. I have had to take anxiety medication when driving the vehicle due to fear of these events recurring, and I am deeply concerned about the safety of my family, including a newborn passenger. 3. Has the...
Vehicle check engine light illuminated along with multiple other lights on the dashboard. It had a difficult time accelerating on its own, very sluggish. At the next light the gas pedal was just tapped and the vehicle began to over accelerate increasing to over 30 MPH in a turning lane while crossing an intersection. Avoided a car accident and pulled into the nearest parking lot. That was the second time that type of incident occurred. The first time, the vehicle was self accelerating during 5 o’clock traffic in Los Angeles. We had to constantly press on the brakes only to avoid accidents until we could exit the freeway.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and unresolved safety and reliability issues with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, purchased from Heritage Jeep in Logan, Utah. Since acquiring the vehicle, I have experienced repeated and severe electrical failures, including: The vehicle failing to start on numerous occasions Complete loss of electrical systems (dash, lights, ignition) Batteries failing to hold or receive charge Multiple warning indicators that do not resolve after service attempts These failures have rendered the vehicle inoperable for over 65 days total since the date of purchase. Despite multiple service visits and numerous documented attempts to address these problems, the dealership—Heritage Jeep in Logan—has not been able to resolve the underlying issue. I have retained all service records, work orders, and correspondence to support these claims. This issue not only causes significant inconvenience, but it raises serious safety concerns, especially when the vehicle becomes unresponsive...
Transmission refuses to shift. Or will loose power and Have to pull off or just stop on the highway to shut vehicle off and restart to fix the problem. I was on i85 and had to pull off twice and the shoulder is a dangerous area to be on that highway. Also torque converter ticks and I’ve noticed a lot of the 2.0 4 cylinders having the same issues.
At 10,400 miles a safety recall was performed on clutch for manual transmission. The dealership replaced clutch bearing, clutch press kit, and other clutch components. After 800 miles were driven (11,200 total miles on vehicle) and after the recall service, the clutch went out again while driving. Dealership is telling me the slave cylinder went out and will need to be replaced.
Sudden loss of power. Vehicle completely lost response to accelerator pedal while driving: Had a very strange experience last night. I have been barely charging my 4xe after 95b recall trying to maybe slow down battery degradation and drive it like during the recall period. Last night I was going down a rural road. I rolled up to a 4 way stop slowing down from about 55mph to stop. Vehicle was in hybrid mode, and cluster was at <1%. I had barely stopped, I don’t think the ICE shut down. I tried to accelerate to clear the intersection and I had 0 power. Car would barely move and slowly rolled in the intersection. Engine was running but not responding to the accelerator with RPM increase, just like when you try to rev at idle. No response to half or full throttle. I just slowly rolled in the intersection (scary situation,...
The engine and cluster showed and made noises indicating that the hybrid system was malfunctioning. The cluster indicated a speed limit at high speeds, but never did so. The electric drivetrain was disconnected and the handling and power were severely affected. It was dangerous because the distracting and concerning issues were during a rapid speed and in dangerous conditions with no clear remedy. The check engine, red turtle, and battery lights indicated the problem, but not beforehand. There were some warranty fixes around the battery including recall work.
Recent recall 95B was performed December 15th, 2024 on my Jeep 4xe. The vehicle passed the road test involved with the safety recall to detect a defective high voltage battery. On December 26th, within 100 miles of the recall test being performed, the vehicle cruise control involuntarily shut off, check engine light illuminated and the vehicle lost power on the freeway. We were able to return home with the vehicle lurching while driving, having erratic acceleration from a stop and pushing through braking. The issues continued a few days later when delivering to the Jeep service center and the Jeep died in the service lane and had to be pushed the rest of the way to the service bay. The "fix'' that Stellantis has provided seems to simply later detect the battery issue that the recall test was designed to detect under their care during the test procedure. There are...
On October 17th. The vehicle exhibited serious electrical issues when I attempted to start it in my school parking lot. Upon pressing the start button, the car would not start, and all electrical items began malfunctioning. The lights inside and outside the vehicle were flashing, the windshield wipers activated on their own, the horn was beeping intermittently, and the car was emitting alarming noises. The situation escalated when the tow truck driver arrived. He was unable to start the vehicle. Instead, the engine produced a loud revving sound, as if it were about to blow up. This experience was not only frustrating but also alarming, considering the potential safety risks. The dealership said they will get to it as soon as they can, but are 7-10 days booked.
Approaching red light and the vehicle came to a sudden stop. Message popped up on dashboard to place into park and start vehicle. Vehicle would not start and could not shift into neutral to move off of road. Message then appeared to plug car in to calibrate battery. Had car towed to my house, plugged car into charging station and message popped up to service charging system. Car will not start.
I was leaving my home on July 25th. Suddenly when turning onto the freeway approach. The car battery light turned on. Then suddenly a Red Turtle came on dropping my speed instantly from 35 to 5 MPH. I was able to barely avoid an accident by throwing the steering wheel to the right moving out of traffic. Had this been about 1000 feet further along, things could have been dangerous. I had the car towed to the dealership.... where they informed me this is the hybrid battery.... an issue that I have had now 4 times with this vehicle and was supposed to be fixed. It has been in the shop for over 2 weeks.
Vehicle just turned off, lost power while driving. A "Check Charging System" message showed up on the dashboard. I was able to restart the vehicle with no further errors.
Unexpected unwarned complete loss of all motive power while driving on a 4 lane main road. The Jeep lost all power, no ICE power and no elec motor power. Dash message said put vehicle in park to restart - at the time i was going about 45mph in the left lane of a 4 lane. Vehicle coasting and decelerating as i was on flat terrain. Was luckily able to get safely to the shoulder. Vehicle restarted after putting it in park, then drove normally with nothing out of the ordinary, no more messages, no warning or check engine lights.
This is the third time I have experienced The truck being too hot and overheating the fan not stopping and me losing power when I’m on a highway. I nearly was killed when my car would not move during traffic. This happened three times now and Jeep is giving me a hard time about towing it getting it fixed they replaced the water pump twice and said it was a recall however, the water pump keeps breaking and I lose power before this happens and the antilock brake system then it starts becoming sluggish and then the water pump breaks and I lose power. I am afraid to drive this vehicle. This is the third time it happened. I read other people pages and this has a similar problem on other peoples jeep of a 2021 as well.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I was just driving home from the park with my family and my Wrangler wouldn't accelerate and the motor would stutter with a complete loss of power. It then gave me the error message on the dash of "e-save mode unavailable" and also "electric mode unavailable". I pulled over, turned it off for a few minutes, then turned it back on to drive home and it repeated the same loss of power and error messages as before. Luckily I was only a mile away from home and it let me drive very slow and limp home. I used my scan tool and found fault code P0A3F which I cannot find any info on google about this code relating to a wrangler 4xe beyond that the recall that I had fixed is still having issues: [XXX] . My VIN is [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA),...
My wrangler 4xe stalled during driving twice even after the 2022 software update was done. I was unable to regain any power to the vehicle and had to have it towed to a dodge dealership for repairs.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the “Shift to Park and Restart" message was displayed. The contact's wife was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but no failure was found. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
While climbing a mountain pass between 2000' and 2500' MSL and passing some vehicles at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and multiple warning lights illuminated. These included: Service Electronic Throttle Control, Check Engine Light, Automatic Emergency Brake system failure, Adaptive Cruise Control system failure. After the initial power loss, the engine seemed to partially recover and could be driven below 60 mph until the vehicle was shut down and restarted. There were no signs or warnings of any impending failure. The coolant, engine oil, and transmission temperatures were well below the published limits. The danger was the power loss was sudden, unexpected, and at a critical time when passing large trucks and in the vicinity of heavy traffic with no emergency parking available. This reported event is the fourth time it has occurred. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer to repair it, and the dealers...
I took my 2021 Jeep Wrangler to the dealership for the clutch recall, which has been completed. However, my Jeep is now stalling and they cannot seem to figure out what the problem is. They repeatedly tell me that it is a "software issue" but there is not resolution to this software issue. My vehicle cannot be safely driven. Each time the clutch is released and the gas is engaged, the vehicle stalls. There was an announcement sent to dealerships to suspend the completion of the recalls on 2021 Jeep Wranglers as there is an issue. Additional communication was expected on June 27, 2024. The service manager at the dealership called me yesterday to inform me that the Jeep engineers are aware of the problem but there is no fix and there is not anticipated timeline on the fix.
About a week ago the light for the rear axel locked activated while driving in 2H. It comes on and off while driving sporadically. I called the dealer and the earliest appointment they have is for Oct 2024 which I had no choice but to take the appointment. Yesterday 7 July 2024 I checked the sensor for the rear axel for damages and cleaning. Nothing seemed burnt or worn out except when I cleaned the connector coming out from the axel it had traces of fresh oil. Oil is coming out through the sensor.
Jeep issued a recall number 19A in 2022. It's been two years with the company providing no solution or fix. The vehicle is designed for off-road use. The recall states that the failure could cause a fire. I would not like to be off-road and cause a fire in the forest. I've called the company multiple times.
July 2024 – driving over 40 mph the Rubicon on a busy two-lane highway with my [XXX] and lost all acceleration. Interior warning lights started flashing with the warning, “Service Electric Throttle Control.” As this was up hill, there I nearly started going backwards and two vehicles swerved around me as I was able to pull over. As cars honked that drove by, I turned the vehicle off which was at this point, making a rattling/wobbling noise. I turned the vehicle back on and off at least three times, with hybrid vehicle working. As I was two miles from home, I was able to get back with the vehicle dropping acceleration (with no horsepower and no ability to go on gas mode) twice until I rolled back in basically neutral. We called USAA to have the vehicle immediately towed to Jeep Rairdon in Kirkland, WA. Jeep Rairdon said they would...

There has been an open recall 19A/NHTSA 23V-116 on my vehicle's CLUTCH since February of 2023. Last summer (2023) a dealer told me they didn't know when the part would be available. Last week another dealer told me the same thing and that he had seen some clutches on the JL Wrangler fail. This is a significant risk to me because I take this vehicle on off road trails with features require frequent and sometimes prolonged use of the clutch. The manufacturer, Stellantis/FCA, has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy What's incredible to me is that in July 2015 NHTSA issued a consent order because FCA was failing to address over 20 recalls in a reasonable amount of time, and here they are doing the same thing!
NHTSA Recall # 23V-116 has been active since February 23, 2023 but the status is "Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available". The recall has been active for almost 14 months with no solution. I do not consider this to be reasonable amount of time for a safety recall to be incomplete with no remedy.

Vehicle often had a burning clutch smell after driving on interstate. This has been ongoing for a couple years now. Jeep has not issued any guidance or fix for this issue. The vehicle is unable to be sold.
