Our 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited just caught on fire. I happened to be in my daughter’s bedroom, 20 feet away from where the Jeep was parked. I thought I was seeing flames reflecting from the TV, but I realized that they were real. My next thought was that my husband was building a firepit fire. I thought that was weird because he was doing it in the front yard, but I didn’t think any more about it because I was so focused on my work. I went back to work for a second, but something told me to look again. I did, and then realized that it was the Jeep that was on fire. I screamed for my husband, but couldn’t find him; I was scared that he was in the Jeep. Actually, he had been in the back yard and heard me screaming, so he ran up front...
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 40-50 MPH on the highway far right lane, several unknown warning lights illuminated as smoke was coming from under the hood. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal felt as if the friction was lost against her foot, and the accelerator pedal traveled all the way to the floorboard as the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact immediately pulled over to the side of the highway, turned off the vehicle, opened the front driver's side door, and noticed smoke and flames coming from beneath the vehicle. The fire department was notified and extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. No physical injuries were sustained; however, the contact stated she sustained emotional distress. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated...
2015 Jeep Wrangler with 3.6l Pentastar Engine having repeated engine failures associated with the use of possibly defective repair parts / defective cylinder head repairs / recurring cylinder 6 misfire alerts..
I am having my oil cooler housing replaced once again after having replaced only 4 years ago. I am on my 3rd radiatior and 3 thermostat. This jeep is not driven hard or offroad and has been maintained in excellent condition. This engine is junk and not safe. I have not had warning lights only oil drippings in the driveway yet the oil level doesnt seem to change. If not caught this will cause your engine to lock up.
On a trip on 7/3/2025 out of state the engine failed due to a blown head gasket , which is the third engine related problem I have experienced . Other issues include: Broken exhaust valve spring, cracked oil filter housing. With being the original owner and having only 84,000 miles I feel this has to be an issue Jeep is having with my engine 3.6 Liter V6. I am lodging a formal complaint to hopefully, have help with the $11,000 quoted price to replace my engine. Thank you
The component that is failing is unknown. Unknown to mechanics because a code is not thrown. I can be driving in my neighborhood, on the highway or coasting and my Jeep stalls. Everything else is working, radio, heater just the rpm goes to zero. I have to quick turn on my hazards and prey I can coast to safety. Once out of traffics way and I am in park my car will restart no problem. my safety is at risk because it will happen on the highway. My mechanic has checked all the sensors, fuel pump and filter, battery cables, alternator you name it its been checked or replaced. I have read Jeep forums to see what others are saying and there are over 100 other jeeps that have this same problem. People are spending thousands of dollars to change out computers several times for it to keep happening and...
Ticking noise in engine from lifters and faulty pin. Potential failure for cams.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who determined that there was a misfire in cylinders #1 and #2, and the right intake valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle remained at the dealer and had not been driven since. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,096.
So I was driving into work on the interstate yesterday around 10am, and my jeep started to die out of nowhere. I almost got in a wreck. I was able to pull over on the side, and the engine light came on and I took it straight to the auto mechanic. I guess my oil filter housing unit is bad and is causing my oil to leak. The auto mechanic said this is a KNOWN issue in the design flaws of Crysler vehicles including my jeep wrangler with the 3.6L engines. This could have gone much worst for me, and after doing some more research this is happening in their 3.6L Engines and is a confirmed design flaw. The issue is reported to affect vehicles with the Pentastar V6 engine, including models like the Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler 300, and Dodge Charger, from around 2013 to 2021. They are saying it's...
Lack of oil in the heads after sitting for a while results in dry valve train at start up and over time results in premature failure of hydraulic lifters not pumping up and rocker arms and cams being dry until oil reaching these parts.
Same problem that I'm having is happening to thousands of people. People are either swapping engines ($20k+) or fixing for ($5k+)Sand debris left in 3.6 engine at time of manufacturing that causes cooling system repair and eventually engine head replacement because of misfire warning. My jeep has 60k miles. Have already replace radiator 2 years ago and now I'm getting misfire on cylinder 2. Ran compression test on cylinder 2 . Only 80 psi showing on gauge compared to 150 psi in the other cylinders. Head is bad. There has been a extended warranty on older jeeps with same engine to fix the issue but, not for 2014 and up. Which makes no sense. PLEASE HELP
OPEN ENGINE BLOCK, LIFTER, SPRING, MANY SMALL PIECES
The radiator is poorly built and leaks, I have had mine replace several times by the dealership This is dangerous because it causes overheating in the engine which can cause hose to bust and engine to seize up . The oil filter house is engineered incorrect and all of them have been breaking causing oil to leak which again, ruins other components in the engine because of loss of oil. Its dangerous because the oil that leaks down through the outer portion of the engine, through to the sides and leaks over the bottom of the transmission onto the ground which is: 1. Environmental hazard- oil leaking causes water pollution, soil contamination, harm to animals and plants 2. Leaking oil is a FIRE HAZARD and safety issues for other vehicles causing slippery conditions for other vehicles 3. Causes engine damage and eventually failure I urge you to obtain the records...
while driving at an 50 MPH speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and flashing continuously. The vehicle was not in drivable condition since it was unusually vibrating while either standing or driving at very low speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a cylinder #2 misfire, and that the valve, cylinder head or crack on the casting causing this issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Cylinder 4 misfire
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that there was a cylinder #2 misfire, and that the valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
2015 original owner, developed misfire cylinder #4 P0304, replaced coils, plugs, injectors, harness on that side. Misfire still present, noted others have reported issues with cylinder head (valves, cams, rockers). Engine has a slight tick, found no recalls on NHTSA site except for 2014 versions with same engine for this exact issue.
The engine has a known failure causing a cylinder misfire that is resolved by replacing the cylinder heads. This is a known issue to FCA and caused an extension of the powertrain warranty for the 2010-2014 models but does not cover later engines, that are still experiencing the same issues. The covered years needs to be extended to 2018 or beyond and all out-of-pocket repair costs should be refunded to the consumer.
My Jeep has the pentastar 3.6l engine and has recently developed what is known as the “pentastar tick”. This is caused by a design flaw with the valvetrain, specifically the lifters/rocker arms that causes excessive wear which leads to the tick, which may then lead to engine failure and loss of control. This is a very common problem with the 3.6 engine and FCA should be held responsible for the safety recall. FCA has already acknowledged the problem on 2012-2014 engines, and extended the warranty, but not on the later engines. Please look out for the consumer and hold them accountable.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the contact was unsure about the diagnostic result. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I was driving and all the dash board lights came on and it started warning beepings then it would not go over 35mph The ABS module was affected because it has a defective eyelet in the TIPM Module wiring connector that allows water to seep in I had a level 2 system testing done to find the defect. Jeep is aware of the problem because when I tried to order a new ABS module I was told it was not available because they are re-engineering it.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle jerked. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road, and was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a coil pack failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several different independent mechanics however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with leakage on the left cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered Technical Service Bulletin: 09-002-14; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
Check engine light came on for misfire in Cylinder 4. Jeep lost power when on the road
The traction control light and ABS dash lights will come on and the vehicle will jerk and bog down while driving. It is very dangerous and needs to be fixed. I looked on jeep forum to see if I could see what's going on with it and there were a bunch of jeeps that have the same problem.
Cranked my vehicle from a cold start and it started running very rough. Had a mechanic put a code scanner on it and it read cylinder #2 misfire. I have been told this is very problematic with the 3.6 pentastar engine and a costly repair. If this is a factory defect I would like to be informed about any and all considerations to which I am entitled to. Thank you very much.
1. driving speeds of 60+ mph my hood lifts up. pull over to double check hood latches- take to CAWOOD in PORT HURON sold jeep. (A) don't worry it a JEEP don't WORRY it is latched. (not latch took out window and damaged hood) to Chrysler in St Clair told me to get new latches metal ones. out of pocket 1 month after bought! 362.00 w/labor 2. I have just replaced the Engine oil filter housing on my 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon for the fourth time the first three replacements were at East hills jeep on Long Island n.y the fourth repair was at Willis ave repair and diagnostic in Albertson N.Y at a cost of $859.33. Ongoing problem with thousands of other jeeps owners reporting the same issue. during the course of these breakdowns, I’ve had to have my vehicle towed to the repair place twice as the oil had drained out of the vehicle causing fatigue and overheating to the engine. I currently has 95,000 miles on my jeep witch is well taken care of and serviced at the East hills jeep dealership. My concern is future damage to my engine due to the extreme temperatures caused by the lack of oil and overheating due to this defect. How is it that the manufacturer...
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The component that failed is the oil filter housing/assembly. It was changed out by the Pep Boys I do not have it on hand but upon research it appears that this is a known issue on the 3.6 and the 3.2 Chrysler Pentastar engines. Mopar made this part out of entirely plastic and it is now failing on a ton of vehicles. The replacement parts are all made out of metal/aluminum. Safety: this not only put myself at a safety risk but also puts other motorists on the road at risk. Not to mention the environmental safety that this can cause. The plastic part contains the oil filter for the engine. After time it warps and fails causing cracks and seal leaks that allows oil to drain out of the engine, onto the transmission manifold...
At 134,000 miles the engine developed a loud ticking. My garage reported that rocker arms, cam shafts and heads needed rrplacement. They recommended that Jeep dealer should be performing the work so that I might have a parts warranty. The dealer reported back that the work would be extensive and recommended engine replacement with a $13,000 estimate.
FAILURE OF COMBINED OIL FILTER / COOLER HOUSING RESULTING IN ABRUPT LOSS OF ENGINE OIL AND RESULTING IN SMALL FIRE FOLLOWING EXHAUST SYSTEM SATURATION FROM LEAKING OIL
FAULTY OIL FILTER HOUSING-KNOWN TO MANUFACTURE , causing vehicle to SHUT DOWN, oil sensors not working, shut down on main hwy, potential fire hazard with oil all over vehicle under carriage and in valley top of motor . THIS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM that no-one wants to address i'm on my 3rd housing and all oem mopar parts( PLASTIC)at tune 1200+, PLEASE INVESTIGATE MAKE THEM STOP USING PLASTIC PARTS AND REPLACE WITH METAL , plastic cracks with heat, flawed design by manufacture , leaving vehicle stuck in traffic high chance of harm to other drivers on road
Faulty oil cooler. 2 different mechanics reported this as a common problem with 2015 jeep wrangler. Due to the way this model was made, the oil cooler is too close to the hot engine making it faulty. As well as the parts around it all have to be replaced. I've been told not to drive the vehicle due to fire hazard. The estimates I've been given are $1400 and up. I've also read many complaints about this same issue, same vehicle, same year, on several different web sites.
Vehicle engine light flashing while vehicle is on. Vehicle shaking, odometor and other gauges are sporadically flashing and shutting off while driving.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times while driving on a busy freeway. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was idling at a red light. After the failure, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable duplicate a failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contacted stated that after retrieving the vehicle the failure persisted. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.
I have experience a complete loss of control of the vehicle on both highways and streets that are bumpy due to dips, potholes, rough conditions due to the road. I received a misfire on cylinder 4 code P0304 and was told my vehicle isn’t covered for any recalls, but see that this is a common issue in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 models. I want to know if any recalls or lawsuits are going on because my dealership informed me there aren’t any and it would take a week to even be able to diagnose the issue.
My Jeep has a left cylinder head failure at 78k miles. Jeep forums are full of discussions regarding this issue. The dealer says there is no reason for the failure and that they have seen this before. Jeep says my warranty is expired so I am out of luck. This is my third Jeep and the first time I have had any issue mechanically. This failure is not from normal wear and tear. It's very frustrating that no recall on this obviously faulty engine part exists.
I had a 2015 2 dr Jeep Wrangler Willy's edition. In march 2023, after sitting cold in the driveway for 10+ hours, it spontaneously combusted. It was very obviously an electrical fire based on the smell alone. It appeared that the most damage was in the area of the battery and fuse box. Vehicle was completely totaled and I found many reports online of similar issues, including many wranglers that were completely totaled after the fire. There is no official acknowledgement of this recurring issue. The fire caught so fast, if I had not been parked in the driveway faced away from the house, I might not have a home either. Insurance did not do an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Oil filter housing assembly failed
My truck was making a loud clicking noise and kind or rattle. I took the vehicle in to be serviced. I was told that I needed to have all lifters, rockers and cams replaced. That these items being worn out is a known issue with Jeep Wranglers but there has not been a recall for this issue. The dealership replaced those items the camshaft exhaust, camshaft intake, arm valve, tappet valve lash, gasket cylinder and gasket intake. As stated by the dealership having to replace the lifters, rockers and cams is a known issue. Most people just trade the truck in. I would like to know if this is a known issue why has there not been a recall for this? Also because of the cams this caused the cylinder misfire in the engine.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled temporarily. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,200.
I have had the oil filter housing crack two times costing over 1 grand each time to have replaced by a shop. The lifters and rockers have gone out on each side of engine now with not even 91k miles on vehicle. Drivers side had 62,000 miles and then the passenger side had 91,000 miles on it. Maintenance has been done on time and not over due.
Oil filter housing leaking oil, build up of oil sludge on top of intake manifold,if build up persists it may cause vehicle to catch fire
Check engine light came on. Took jeep to dealership - indicated that the left side cylinder head needed replaced, not placing would cause extensive damage. The vehicle had 65779 miles on it and is in excellent condition, there was no reason for the engine to have such significant problems based on usage. Learned this is a faulty issue and that Jeep is aware of it, although no additional warranty or recall was provided. I was paid over $3,392 to get the issue diagnosed and repaired.
No crash or injuries. My Jeep only has 45,000 original miles and it is leaking oil from the oil cooler. I researched and this seems to be a very common issue with the 2015 3.6 L Jeep Wrangler. It cost over $1,500 to repair. As the other gentleman stated in his complaint, I feel this is a major issue that needs to be addressed by Jeep. See the other post below for further detail: I OWN TWO JEEP WRANGLERS, A 2013 AND A 2015. I HAD THE 2015 REPAIRED AT A COST OF OVER $1,000.00. NOW MY 2013 HAS DEVELOPED THE SAME PROBLEM; TO WIT, THE OIL COOLER/ OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKS ON CHRYSLER 3.6 ENGINES AND THE OIL IS SPREAD ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL OF CAUSING A FIRE. IF THIS IS NOT DISCOVERED, THE OIL WILL SPREAD TO THE REAR TIRES WHICH WILL CAUSE A...
There’s a ticking sound coming from my engine and it’s misfiring in cylinder 5 and the check engine light is on. My concern is it’s the rocker arm
Our temperature gauge says it’s overheating but it’s not overheating. We’ve had the radiator replaced twice. We’ve had it at three different places to take a look at it, we had the dealership look at it and says they can’t find anything. But it keeps losing coolant. This has been going on for the last 6 to 9 months can’t drive the car more than a few miles.

IF THIS IS NOT DISCOVERED, THE OIL WILL SPREAD TO THE REAR TIRES WHICH WILL CAUSE A TRACTION OR BRAKING HAZARD. CHRYSLER HAS NOT MODIFIED THE HOUSING AND WHEN YOU REPLACE , IT IS REPLACED WITH THE SAME PART THAT WILL FAIL IN THE FUTURE. CHRYSLER HAS TO KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS BY THE # OF UNITS THAT THEY HAVE SOLD, NOT TO MENTION THE THOUSANDS OF UNITS THAT ARE SOLD ON EBAY AND AUTOMOTIVE PARTS STORES. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS SITUATION BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED OR...
My vehicle has been suddenly shutting off while I am driving. There is no warning that anything is wrong with the vehicle. The first time it happened was October 2021. When it has these failures they happen multiple times. The next day the car operates normally. There are no consistencies when this happens - it has shut off when I am driving 20mph and 60mph. There are no error messages that come up on the vehicle. I took it to Chuck Patterson and they were unable to retrieve an error code and refused to diagnose intermittent issues. They did not find any visible issues with the vehicle. I have an open case with Stellantis but they have not done anything. This issue has happened when I am driving my 2 year old nephew and is life threatening. Stellantis has not sent out anyone to inspect my vehicle. I bought the...
I have owned my Jeep since 2015 and bought it brand new from the dealership. I have replaced the thermostat three times already. Yesterday, 1-21-22, I was driving home on the interstate. The thermostat stuck again, would not open, and caused it to start dumping coolant out of it while driving. That caused the belt to slip and causing me to almost get into an accident trying to pull over. This Jeep has had several issues with overheating in the almost seven years I’ve had it.
2015 Jeep Wrangler 66,000 mi on it rocker arms are rattling need to be replaced it's a problem at all 2015 what I understand
