ABS control module has gone out
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or local dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,250.
I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that has a lifetime powertrain warranty. Since I purchased the vehicle in 2008 I have maintained it exactly as required to keep the warranty valid. This includes the 5 year lifetime warranty powertrain inspections which are performed every 5 years. I have documented proof of the inspections. In January 2024 my ABS brakes failed and I went to my local dealership where I purchased the vehicle. The dealership service department told me that my ABS module failed with a code of C2200 ABS Module Internal Failure. the part number is 68030936-AB. The dealership said they ordered the part from the manufacturer. Since January 09, 2024 I have called the dealership about the ABS module. They told me I could drive the vehicle and that it would brake, but the antilock brakes would not work. This ABS module also controls the Electronic Stability Program,...

Transmission pops out of first gear randomly. Was making a left turn across a 4 lane highway when transmission popped out this time. Thankfully this time oncoming traffic had enough time to slow down and not t-bone me. When this happens it feels as though I’ve been hit from behind and makes a very loud popping noise. Dealer aware of tbs 21-001-10 but vehicle is out of warranty period so have to pay out of pocket to have this well know safety issue fixed.

THE DASHBLIGHTS STARTED ACTING POSSESSED WHILE DRIVING AND WINSHIELD WHIPERA CAME ON WITHOUT BEING ACTIVATED BY SWITCH. NOW THE GUAGES ARE STUCK STRAIGHT UP AND IT WONT SHIFT OUT OF PARK..THE RADIO AND WINDOWS STILL WORK AND THE LIGHTS CONE ON WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON.
ALRIGHT I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA JK. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 2DOOR SOFT TOP. AND I HAVE NOTICED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN THERE IS WET CONDITIONS ON ANY CURVY ROAD THAT WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TAKE A CURVE TO THE RIGHT WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL ON THE TRANSMISSION WILL DOWN SHIFT AND CAUSE THE BACK TIRES TO SPIN AND LOSE TRACTION WHICH INTURN SENDS THE [XXX] END SIDEWAYS. AND IT DOES IT BOTH UP AND DOWN HILL AND PRETTY MUCH ONLY ON RIGHT TURNS THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH PUTS THE DRIVER SIDE REAR END INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE A LITTLE. THE VEHICLE "POPS" OUT OF 1ST GEAR CONSTANTLY. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF EXAMPLES POSTED IN FORUMS WHERE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MANY OF THESE MODELS. ITS DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO START FROM A STANDSTILL WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU AND YOU CAN'T EVEN USE FIRST GEAR TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. CHRYSLER WON'T FIX THE ACTUAL PROBLEM..THEY JUST RECALLED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE A DUMMY LIGHT INSTALLED ON YOUR DASH..TURN YOUR VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT COOL DOWN..BY THAT TIME WHEN IT OVER HEATS..IT'S ALREADY JUNK..42RLE ARE JUNK! WE THE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO FIX AND DIAGNOSIS THERE MISTAKE. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITED AWHILE BEFORE DRIVING AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY BACK HOME. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO POMOCO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM OF NEWPORT NEWS (LOCATED AT 12629 JEFFERSON AVE, NEWPORT NEWS, VA 23602, (757) 369-3565), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,460.
MANUAL TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR, THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE SYNCHRONIZER WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I PAID TO HAVE IT REPLACED THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME CHRYSLER PAID TO REPLACE IT: THAT WAS 2 1/2 YEARS AGO (THAT IS HOW LONG IT LASTED FOR) I RECENTLY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED IT IN 11/2016 AND THEY SAID I DON'T HAVE A WARRANTY AND THEY ONLY GUARANTEE THEIR WORK FOR 2 YEARS. I FOUND A RECALL SERVICE BULLETIN ON LINE FOR THE SYNCHRONIZER THAT WAS SENT TO ALL DEALERSHIPS APRIL 20, 2010
VEHICLE WILL NOT START RIGHT AWAY AFTER IT HAS RAINED OR WHEN IT IS COLD. IT IS NOT CERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WILL START AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION SWITCH RECALL FOR SOME JEEPS, WHICH WAS RECALLED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF RESULTING IN A VEHICLE FIRE. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL FOR THE 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA YET EVEN THOUGH MANY OWNERS HAVE MADE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS.
FRONT AXLE (DIFFERENTIAL) OIL SEALS ARE LEAKING LUBE OIL QUICKLY. THERE ARE LEAK REPORTED ISSUES WITH THESE DANA 30; DANA 35; AND MY OWN RUBICON'S DANA 44 AXLE. THE AXLE SEALS ARE LEAKING LUBE OIL FROM THE AXLE ENDS. AGAIN, THIS IS HAPPENING TO MY '08 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON AND ALSO TO MANY OTHER JEEP WRANGLER MODELS FROM 07-17 YEARS AS WELL AS REPORTED AND CONFIRMED BY OTHER OWNERS OF JEEP JK AND JKU MODELS 2017, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 09, 08, 07 MODELS. THERE SHOULD BE A GOVERMENT RECALL SINCE MANY OF THESE JEEPS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME AXLE LEAK ISSUES AS REPORTED. UNFORTUNATEDLY, FCA DOES NOT COVER THIS SIMPLE POWER TRAIN FIX SINCE MY VEHICLE IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY.
AT 54,500 HIGHWAY MILES, TWO ROD BEARINGS FAILED IN THE ENGINE RESULTING IN TOTAL ENGINE LOSS. AFTER ENGINE REPLACEMENT THE THROW OUT BEARING FAILED RESULTING IN FAILURE OF THE CLUTCH. ENGINE FAILED WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON A FREEWAY BUT WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP. CLUTCH FAILED WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS RESULTING IN TOWING.

THE CONTACT STATED WAS ABLE TO SHIFT BACK TO DRIVE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THEIR RESIDENCE. THE DEALER (FOSS CHRYSLER JEEP 133 PORTSMOUTH AVE, EXETER, NEW HAMPSHIRE 03833) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND MORE TIME WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND AGREED WITH THE DEALER THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND MORE TIME WAS NEEDED. THE VIN SEARCH REVEALED NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 266,936.
HOTOIL ALARM COMES ON UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON A DAILY BASIS. TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING AND NEEDS AN APPROPRIATE GRABS COOLER OR THIS WILL CAUSE FIRE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP BEFORE TRANSMISSION FAILURE!
VEHICLE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION A SINGLE DING WILL GO OFF EVERY COUPLE OF MINUTES, MORE OFTEN AT SLOWER SPEEDS. NO DASH LIGHT ON NO INDICATION AS TO WHY IT IS DINGING. ALSO PARKED ON HILL WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BEGIN GOING INTO MOTION THE VEHICLE SHAKES AT AN UNSETTLING FEELING UNTIL I GET TO FLAT GROUND AND PUT IT INTO DRIVE.

SINCE I PURCHASED THIS JEEP, IT INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT START--TYPICALLY IN WARM WEATHER. WE REPLACED THE GROUND ON THE BATTERY, PURCHASED NEW BATTERY, STARTER, NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH AND ALL TRANSMISSION SENSORS. STILL, IT WILL NOT START IN WARM WEATHER. WE LITERALLY HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE COOLS, THEN THE JEEP WILL START. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON-LINE AND FOUND MANY CONSUMER REFERENCES TO THIS PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE--COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS "THE JEEP FLU." MANY REPORT EITHER THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH OR THE TIPM IS THE ISSUE. MANY REFERENCES COMPLAIN THAT CHRYSLER IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM--TIPMS ON BACK ORDER--BUT THEY ARE SILENT. WHILE PARKED IN A MALL PARKING GARAGE, VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL. ACCORDING TO A POLICEMAN, A WITNESS SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD 15-20 MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED. VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL. SMOKE AND HEAT DAMAGE TO FRONT INTERIOR OF VEHICLE INCLUDING MELTED CARPET NEAR TRANSMISSION IN AREA OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *JS
ON MAY 29TH OF 2014 I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER DOWN A 4 LANE CITY STREET AT ABOUT 3000 RPM. I HAD JUST TAKEN OFF FROM A RED LIGHT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION THAT RESULTED IN A FIRE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE GAS TANK EXPLODED AND THE FIRE COVERED THE BOTTOM OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THERE WAS DAMAGE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE ENGINE SIDE OF THE FIREWALL ON WHAT APPEARED TO BE FUEL LINES. LUCKILY THERE WAS A QUICK RESPONSE BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, BUT MY JEEP HAS BEEN RENDERED UN-DRIVABLE. I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOT ASSISTANCE THERE. THE CHRYSLER INVESTIGATION TEAM WOULD NOT EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT THE FUEL LINES THE MARSHAL DETERMINED STARTED THE FIRE. I WILL NEVER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE PRODUCED BY CHRYSLER EVER AGAIN....
WHEN THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED TO ON, THE STARTER ONLY GAVE A CLICK. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT STARTED. THE DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NOTHING. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND SEVERE TO THE POINT IT WOULDN'T START AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED WITH NO RESULTS, PROBLEM CONTINUED. FROM ONLINE FORUMS ON JEEP I FOUND THIS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. IT WAS SUGGESTED TO PUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND TRY. IF IT STARTS, THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR. PUTTING IT NEUTRAL WHEN THIS OCCURS, HAS STARTED THE ENGINE THE FIRST TRY DOZENS OF TIMES FOR ME. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER, GAVE THEM THIS INFORMATION WHICH THEY IGNORED. THEY REPLACED A SOLENOID CABLE INSTEAD. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC, THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS WHILE I RENTED...

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
IN DECEMBER, MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION 2008 JEEP WRANGLER BEGAN JUMPING OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE CHANCES OF THIS HAPPENING INCREASE WITH HIGHER RPMS, SO A QUICK ACCELERATION OR ACCELERATING UP A HILL MAKE IT WORSE. IT'S INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS IT USUALLY PUTS ME CLOSE TO A STOP AS I'M TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP SIGN OR WHEN A TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNS GREEN. POTENTIAL FOR REAR-ENDING IS HIGH. *TR
MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER 2-DOOR WITH THE 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WILL SOMETIMES NOT GO INTO 2ND AND 1ST GEAR WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO POPS OUT OF 2ND AND 4TH GEAR. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE UNSAFE BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF POWER TO THE WHEELS. IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN WHILE TRYING TO DOWNSHIFT AROUND A TURN OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EVADE A COLLISION. ALSO, THE SHIFTER CLICKS AND FEELS "NOTCHY" WHEN SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR, MAKING IT DIFFICULT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT SEVERAL MONTHS LATER YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT A SECOND TIME BUT AGAIN, TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND WORKING, YOU TRY TO START THE CAR AND THERE IS A CLICK THEN NOTHING. I THEN MOVE THE SHIFTER TO NEUTRAL AND START THE CAR THEN MOVE SHIFTER BACK TO PARK. THERE ARE NO CODES BEING REGISTERED IF YOU PLUG IN A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND I'VE HAD SEVERAL COMPETENT MECHANICS CHECK IT OUT TO NO AVAIL. ON APPROXIMATELY 01/21/13 AT ABOUT 8:00AM, WHILE TRAVELING ON THE 405 FREEWAY AT ABOUT 50MPH, MY JEEP GOT THE "DEATH WOBBLES". IT WAS FOUND THE ENTIRE FRONT HOUSING SNAPPED OFF. IT WAS FIXED AND RETURNED TO ME. ON 02/11/13 AT ABOUT 10:30AM, I WAS MERGING ON TO THE I-5 N/B FROM SAND CANYON IN IRVINE. WHEN I REACHED 45MPH, I GOT THE "DEATH WOBBLES" AGAIN. THIS TIME, THE DEALER SAID IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD CHEAP TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NITTO TIRES WHICH ARE ABOUT $250 EACH. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THE DEATH WOBBLES AND IT APPEARS JEEP HAS A REAL PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE LOSING CONTROL. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED AND JEEP KNOWS IT. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE IN TWICE NOW FOR THE SAME THING. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V436000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION), BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
UPON ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP, MANUAL TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR. STICK SHIFT LEVER POPS OUT WITH DANGEROUS FORCE AND CAN INJURE HAND OR ARM IF IT IS IN THE PATH OF EJECTED SHIFT LEVER. CONDITION EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING IN TRAFFIC AND LOSING DRIVE. WHEN TRYING TO PULL AWAY IN FIRST GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY SLAM OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A LIGHT AFTER IT HAD TURNED FROM RED TO GREEN, HOW EVER SUBSEQUENT OCCURRENCES HAVE HAPPENED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE LEFT TURNS AND ONE SUCH OCCURRENCE LED TO A NEAR COLLISION ON OCTOBER 16TH 2012 WHILE DRIVING WITH MY PREGNANT WIFE IN THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY, ONCE A WEEK NOW. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT BUT NO SAFETY RECALL. HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD AND THE FRONT END STARTING SHAKING VERY BADLY. HAD TO COME TO A STOP FOR THE SHAKING TO STOP. THE FAMOUS JEEP DEATH WOBBLE. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY ACTED LIKE THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE. AFTER SEEING THESE COMPLAINTS I REALIZE ITS A COMMON PROBLEM AND JEEP SHOULD OF FIXED IT. IT COST ME $400.00 TO FIX IT. DURING MILD ACCELERATION FROM A FULL STOP, IN FIRST GEAR, THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION JUMPED OUT OF FIRST GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. A VERY LOUD AND JARRING CLANG OCCURRED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE INCIDENT. DURING THE NEXT THREE YEARS THIS WAS A RARE AND CONSISTENT OCCURRENCE. AS OF THE SUMMER OF 2012 THIS HAS BECOME A DAILY OCCURRENCE. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE VEHICLE DRIVERS BEHIND ME MAY ASSUME THAT THE FORWARD MOTION OF MY VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE AND ACCELERATE WHERE IN REALITY THE ACCELERATION OF MY VEHICLE COMES TO AN ABRUPT HALT AND THE VEHICLE SPEED DECREASES UNTIL I AM ABLE TO RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. *JS
