EXHAUST MANIFOLD CRACKS AFTER 30,000 MILES HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT 2 TIMES NOW AND JEEP ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT.. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED, A WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL CHRYSLER MODELS. *TR
FUEL OVERFLOWS WHEN REFUELING. OVERFLOW OCCURS EVEN WITHOUT FILLING THE TANK. PARKING BRAKE DOESN'T WORK UNLESS YOU PULL IT UP VERY HARD AND STILL DOESN'T KEEP IT FROM ROLLING. AIR CONDITIONER DOESN'T COOL. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR. BLOWS "SMOKE" FROM VENTS. A LOUD "KNOCK" SOUND WHEN YOU TURN THE A/C ON/OFF OR WHEN YOU CRANK THE VEHICLE AND THE A/C CONTROL IS ON. SOFT TOP LEAKS OVER BOTH DOORS WHEN IT RAINS. SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS CONFIRMED PROPER TOP INSTALLATION. SHARP EDGES ON THE ROLL BARS. ROLL BAR COVERS HAVE RIPPED AS A RESULT OF PUTTING THE TOP UP OR DOWN. DANGEROUS "WOBBLE" WHEN YOU HIT A SMALL POTHOLE, CHANGE UNEVEN LANES, ETC. HOOD LIFTS APPROX. 2 INCHES WHEN A LARGE TRUCK OR TRAILER PASSES OR MEETS THE JEEP. MANUAL TRANSMISSION "GRINDS OR CATCHES" WHEN SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR, WORSE WHEN COLD. *TR
I PUT IN A NEW BATTERY IN MY CAR AT THE DEALER AND IT CORRODED AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THEY FORGOT TO SPRAY IT. I HAVE HAD CARS FOR 6 YEARS AND THE BATTERY NEVER CORRODED.I FEEL THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG SOMEPLACE AND THE DEALER IS NOT BEING HONEST WITH ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS AND THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ALWAYS RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A FAULTY OXYGEN SENSOR CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE ENTIRE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER THE MOST RECENT FAILURE AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE...
ON OCCASION MY JEEP WILL NOT CRANK. THE KEY WILL TURN ON, DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL COME ON, BUT JUST WILL NOT CRANK. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IS GOOD. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES IT WILL FINALLY CRANK. THIS OCCURS AT NO CERTAIN TIME OF DAY. IT SOMETIMES HAS HAPPENED 3 DAYS IN A ROW. OTHER TIMES A WEEK WILL PASS BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS NOT PROPERLY CONNECTING IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. THE IGNITION SWITCH AND GROUND WIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE DID NOT PERSIST HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT SIGNS OF HESITATION AND STUTTERING INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS ABLE TO REACH A SETTLEMENT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
CONSUMERS FEELS THAT HIS 2008 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON POSES A SAFETY HAZARD *GR RECEIVED 2 DOCUMENTS FROM MR. HOPKINS. 4/19/2010 *GR THE CONSUMER IS AFRAID THE ENGINE MAY CATCH ON FIRE, DUE TO IT BACKFIRING. ALSO, THE RPM PERIODICALLY REMAINED HIGH. THE CONSUMER STATED HE REPEATEDLY HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE CHECH ENGINE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED AND THEREFORE, THE COMPUTER WAS UNABLE TO RECORD ANY MALFUNCTIONS. *JB
THE COMPLAINT IS HOW CHRYSLER CORP. IS ADDRESSING THE J30 RECALL. TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING CAUSING ENGINE FIRES. I OWN A 2008 WRANGLER THAT COST 50K. FOR THE J30 RECALL FIX THEY ARE ADDING A HOT OIL ICON ON THE DASH AND FLASH THE COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE A SENSOR. THE ENGINE CAN STILL CATCH FIRE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO FORCE CHRYSLER TO ADD A NEW TRANSMISSION COOLER TO COOL THE FLUID, AND PREVENT THE OIL FROM BOILING. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER ENGINE FIRES CAN HAPPEN IN CITY TRAFFIC STARTING AND STOPPING. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULD SELL ME ONE AT $500 WITH TWO HOURS OF LABOR AT $110 PER HR. IF THIS IS A RECALL, DUE TO FAULTY ENGINEERING, THEN WHY DOES THE CUSTOMER HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THE RECALL ??? I AM WRITING THIS BEFORE THERE IS PROPERTY AND OR PERSONAL DAMAGE. HOPEFULLY, SOMEONE IN NHTSA CAN...
ON NOVEMBER 19, 2007 AS I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT A RESTAURANT, I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND QUICKLY NOTICED A RED DOT LIGHT ABOVE MY FUEL GAUGE. I HAD TO PULL MY PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID ROLLING ANY FURTHER. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START MY CAR AGAIN. INITIALLY, SEVERAL LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE MOTOR SEEMED TO RESPOND TO TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. HOWEVER, AFTER EACH ATTEMPT, THE ENGINE CUT OFF AFTER A FEW QUICK SECONDS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL TO TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED. I WAS ACTUALLY JUST A MILE DOWN THE ROAD FROM JUST PICKING UP MY JEEP FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR THE PAST 8 DAYS FOR...
