roll over valve in gas tank on a 2012 Jeep Patriot.
the rollover valve in the gas tank won't allow me to put fuel in the gas tank.
When fueling the jeep the nozzle keeps popping off. I had a diagnostics test And was told that there is something in the gas tank that blocks it in case of a rollover. Is this a recall?
Unknown: Something is wrong with the gas tank. When refueling, it's nearly impossible to activate the latch on the pump handle without the pump immediately stopping. To refuel, I have to gently squeeze the trigger to enable a very slow flow of fuel. To fill the tank, while gently activating the trigger, takes approximately 15-20 minutes. In the past, you could depress the trigger and activate the locking catch and fill up in 3-4 minutes depending on the pressure of the gas station system. I don't know if this issue points to a safety problem, however, clearly it's a defect. I consulted the Jeep dealership and they recommended to not fully insert the nozzle into the filler neck of the tank. It was a bizarre recommendation because it was never an issue in the past. Of course I tried their recommendation an as expected it made no difference. At a...
My fuel tank problem should be included in the Safety Recall M11/NHTSA 12V-142 Fuel Tank Roll-Over value..I have taken my car to several Jeep dealers and have been informed the problem with this tank falls in the recall…I have been dealing with this problem for years….I recently found out that the problem falls in the recall above…I took my car to the Jeep dealer, Pelegríno in Woodbury,NJ on 5/19/21 for the problem..They informed me tank would have to be removed to be fixed…they never informed me that there was a recall…so I did not get it fixed at the time. I have been dealing with this problem since 2018
The vehicle stalls while driving with no warning. This has happened 5 times in the last week.
When filling the tank with gas and then driving the vehicle, the vehicle either stalls, bucks really bad, or hesitates when accelerating. There is a heavy smell of gas. This unsafe condition has been traced to a faulty fuel tank valve that requires the entire fuel tank to be replaced ($1,000- $1,800). Others have experienced fuel being spewed out suddenly when refueling very slowly due to this same faulty valve. Any fuel system issue puts the vehicle at risk of fire, which is risks my life and my family's life.

I have a problem fueling my 2012 Jeep Patriot. I have to dribble the gas into neck to prevent gas from blowing out of neck. My mechanic replaced neck. Still have the same problem. I have read of a recall due to valve inside tank sticking which could cause fuel to pour out if a rollover occurs but I'm hearing from mechanic that the problem with valve sticking is why I'm having a problem refueling. If both issues are due to the same valve problem, shouldn't the recall cover my jeep? I have had my jeep to my mechanic 3 times now for this issue in the past month. I have also had my jeep stall if I accelerate quickly.
I cannot put gas in my car, continuously shuts off and spits fuel back out like its full. It takes about 20 minutes to get enough gas in it to feel like I can drive a little distance without worrying I will run out since It always acts as if its full. It also seems as if it wants to stall out at times and I just give it more gas. I have had this car for a few months now and Im scared its going to stall and cause an accident. Having a difficult time with getting someone to work on it, codes will not diagnose. After reading I saw this had recalls in the past. Should this car have been recalled?
I submitted a form yesterday and forgot to mention that there have been a few other odd things about the jeep which I'm not sure how to explain. 1. There has, since day 1 of my purchase, test drive, etc, always been some weird whistling sound when driving. Very light, like the kind of whistle made with just your tongue at the roof of the mouth. Not a "full" whistle sound. 2. When going uphill, the engine squeals. And honestly has poor acceleration uphill in general. Very poor. But I thought it was how this make and model is. 4 cylinders aren't known for their awesome power and speed, after all. 3. Occasionally, the jeep "tugs"? Seemingly like how manuals switch between gears, but mine is an automatic. It does so unprovoked, not by my using the cvt option, randomly, at any speed. 4. Occasionally there would be a "dropping"...
Along with complaints 11466544 11466577 I want to add that I bought this car in November 2015. The engine blew in May 2021 with 104k miles. Not at all what would expect from a 2010+ model vehicle. And another thing .... I'm used to needing more regular tune ups. So, once a year -ish... I'd take the jeep in for spark plug replacement, etc. Well, when I switched to the other brkes plus closer to my home, the tech told me that's not required for this jeep. We actually kind of got into it. But, we're able to amicably come to agreement. Anyways, the other brakes plus did so without argument, at least twice. After me and dude from brakes plus had our Lil tiff... I reevaluated my owners manual, and confirmed the spark plug thing. He was right. But one thing I always found odd... was that transmission fluid...
Ah... yes. And the most absolute weirdest thing of all about this jeep- The manual that came with the jeep (which i cant seem to find) stated 85 gas is recommended. Did I think THAT was weird? YES! It's a truck. Kinda heavy... didn't expect 85 gas. But it's a 4cylinder, so ok. That manual was also not very thorough, for lack of a better term, so I purchased one. That manual stated 87. Put 87 in it. The jeep lost acceleration power. Couldn't get above 35mph. Boomerang only takes 85. Weird. Didn't put too much thought into it. If I remember correctly, this issue always resolved on its own somehow. Not sure why. Anyhow. That has happened about 4 or 5 times under my ownership. Every now and again, after regular maintenance, I would kind of check it, to see. On several occasions, when i took it in for...
Ah- yes, The absolute most weirdest thing about this jeep. When putting the recommended 87 gas in the tank, it loses acceleration power. The manual that came with it (which i cant seem to find) stated 85. Did I think THAT was weird? Yes! It's a truck, kinda heavy, but it is a 4 cylinder- so ok jeep. That manual, however, was not very thorough, so I purchased one. That one stated 87. Put 87 in it. Nope. Boomerang only takes 85. When 87 is put in, it loses acceleration power and won't go above 35 mph. The issue always seemed to resolve on its own. Not sure why, and I didn't put much thought into it. Every now and then I would try 87, same thing happened. This happened about 4 or 5 times under my ownership. I mentioned this several times at regular maintenance and oil changes. No...
Something is wrong with the engine. I was told the engine is blown. I've maintained my vehicle and completed recommended repairs by Brakes Plus. I'd like to mention that as a former lube tech for Jiffy Lube, I am familiar with oil top offs. Naturally, I periodically checked my dip stick to confirm oil levels. It ALWAYS read at an acceptable level. Did I think it was weird? No, because I'm not a mechanic. I just thought that's how Jeeps are. Go Jeep! I'm a fan... well, my engine blew. Took it to Brakes Plus,l (towed), after a few check ups (towed each time)asked the techs how much oil was in the tank. Was told 2 quarts. I'm thinking that should have been reflected somehow on the dipstick. It wudnt. Since my car's been dead, thought I'd "experiment" with the oil readings. I have NOT driven the jeep. Anyhow, put...
Fueling vehicle takes upwards of 15-20 minutes. I am worried it may have something to do with recall 12V142000 along with recall 13V120000. Which are both hazardous to the driver and passenger being that one may cause an accident and the other may result in death of the occupants.
Can't pump gas without it shutting off within seconds of trying to auto click handle. It is taking average 15-25 minutes to pump a tank of gas. It is BY PASSING the auto shut off so gas could spew out of tank when full. This is happening every week when I go get gas, estimate 4 months now. Doesn't matter if cold or hot outside but I am already tired of holding handle trying to get gas in the tank. I read that Chrysler is looking at 2011-2012 models due to the gas tank is split and has valve line that is defective. I have to turn ignition key on so I can see when I put enough gas in vehicle multiple times to get a full tank. I am the original owner. No warning messages that alert for condition. This is unsafe.
ON DEC 2 2021 WILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF MY SAFTEY AND THE SAFTEY OF OTHERS WERE PUT AT RISK AS I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A TRUCK SERVICED AT A REPAIR SHOP THEY REPLACED THE EVAP SYSTEM AND THE CHARCOL FILTER BUT WERE UNSURE OF THE REASON WHY IT SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART VEHICLE HAD A QUATER TANK OF GAS AT THE TIME AND WOULD NOT RESTART THE NEXT DAY I ADDED MORE FUEL AND IT STARTED BUT IT HAD TWO WARNING LIGHTS PRESENT
WHEN TRYING TO FILL THE TANK WITH GAS THE PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF EVERY 5-10 SECONDS AND SOMETIMES GAS COMES BACK OOUT THE FILL TUBE. MY MECHANIC SAYS WE HAVE A BAD ROLLOVER VALVE AND THE WHOLE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO FIX IT.
WHEN I ATTEMPT TO REFILL GAS IN MY JEEP, THE TANK PREVENTS THE GAS FROM FLOWING INTO THE VEHICLE. I CAN REFILL THE TANK, BUT BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE, IT TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO REFILL THE GAS WITH THE PUMP REPEATEDLY SHUTTING OFF.
WHEN PUMPING GAS AT ANY GAS STATION, MY FUEL TANK SHUTS OFF THE FLOW OF GAS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 5 SECONDS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE GAS TANK.
I HAD MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD THEM RUN A QUICK DX CHECK TO SEE WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE THAT CAME UP REPORTED AN ISSUE WITH MY GAS CAP OR FUEL SENSOR. I AM NOT ABLE TO PUMP GAS INTO MY VEHICLE WITHOUT THE PUMP SHUTTING OFF CONTINUOUSLY; WHEN PUMPING MY GAS I HAVE TO HOLD THE PUMPS LEVER AND IT WILL STILL LOSE PRESSURE AND SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO PUMP VERY SLOWLY IN ORDER TO FILL UP MY VEHICLE. WHEN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I CAN FEEL A SURGE IN MY ACCELERATION AND I HAVE NOTICED ISSUES IN BEING ABLE TO PICK UP SPEED. I ALSO STARTED TO HAVE AN ISSUE WITH A LOUD CLICKING WHEN TURNING ON MY HEAT OR AC. I STARTED LOOKING IN THE PROBLEMS MORE ON JEEPSCARES FORUMS. I SAW VARIOUS REPORTS...
CAR STALLS AT EVERY STOP. WHILE DRIVING HIGH WAY SPEEDS FOR A FEW MINUTES IT DROPS DOWN IN SPEED CAUSING YOU CLOSE CALL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE IT IS VERY SUDDEN. IF I DRIVE THE JEEP AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP REGARDLESS IF AT STOP SIGN RED LIGHT OR BEHIND TRAFFIC THE CAR WILL TURN OFF HAVING ME TO TURN THE KEY IN OFF POSITION AND PUT IT IN PARK TO START IT AGAIN. IF I AM ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING I CAN BE GOING 45 MPH AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE JEEP STARTS DECLINING IN ITS ACCELERATION AND WILL NOT GO ABOVE 10MPH. ALSO WHEN INITIALLY STARTING UP IF I HAVE TO BACK UP IT TURNS OFF WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF BACKING UP. THIS ISSUE IS BEEN KNOWN TO HAPPEN TO A FEW PEOPLE WHO I KNOW THAT OWN THE SAME EXACT JEEP OR THE 2013 MODEL. ALSO HAVE...
2012 JEEP PATRIOT 4 X 4 TAKES 20 MINUTES TO FILL GAS TANK DUE TO FAULTY VALVE. HAD THE DEALERSHIP RUN DIAGNOSTIC TESTS TODAY AND THEY TELL ME A NEW GAS TANK IS THE ONLY FIX DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH A VALVE INSIDE THE TANK....THEY CALLED IT A "FLAPPER" AND AN "INLET CHECK VALVE". TALKED TO JEEP AND TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. I ALSO FOUND THE FOLLOWING TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH EXTENDS THE GAS SYSTEM WARRANTY ON A NUMBER OF MAKES/MODELS FOR THIS VERY SAME ISSUE, BUT THE JEEP PATRIOT IS NOT INCLUDED - TSB 14-001-09 REV.A THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING AND DANGEROUS.
JEEP STALLS OUT ON ROAD. COULD ONLY GO 20 MPH AFTER RESTARTING
THE GAS TANK CAN NOT BE FILLED AT THE GAS PUMP WITHOUT REDUCING THE FLOW TO THE MINIMUM LEVEL. AS A RESULT IT TAKE 20 MINUTES TO PUT 10 GALLONS IN THE GAS TANK. THIS IS DANGEROUS LATE AT NIGHT OR IN BAD WEATHER. THIS ISSUE STARTED IN OCTOBER AND IS GETTING WORSE.
MY 2012 JEEP PATRIOT 4WD 2.4L IS AROUND 106,000 MILES. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, I WAS PUMPING GAS AND I NOTICED IT WAS ONLY PUMPING ABOUT 75 CENTS AT A TIME BEFORE STOPPING. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FAULTY PUMP BUT SOON BEGAN TO REALIZE IT HAPPENED EVERYWHERE! MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES EVERY NOW AND THEN, WARNING ME THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS FAULTY. SO I FOUND THE RECALLS FOR BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS WHICH INCLUDE 2012 PATRIOTS, YET THEY SAY MY CAR IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. SERIOUSLY? THE ONLY RECALL THAT IS COVERED FOR MY CAR IS 16V-668 WHICH IS THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT. WHY ARE THE OTHER PROBLEMS THAT ARE POPPING UP WITH EVERYONE NOT COVERED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL SENSOR INDICATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL WAS FULL; HOWEVER, WHEN THE FUEL NOZZLE WAS PULLED BACK, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL FUEL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK'S COUNTRY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (767 SW BASELINE ST, HILLSBORO, OR 97123), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK COULD BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO FILL UP COMPLETELY WITH FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND A VALVE IN THE TANK WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 177,000.
2012 JEEP PATRIOT 4WD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL INCLUDES 2012 JEEP PATRIOT FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES; HOWEVER, MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE. MY JEEP SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I DID NOT EVEN KNOW THIS WAS A RECALL UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY ROAD, AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP IMMEDIATELY.*PM
'TAMARA RECALL' WHILE DRIVING ENGINE WILL JUST DIE LOSING POWER STEERING, ONCE STOPPED IT MAY OR MAY NOT RESTART CAUSING TRAFFIC JAM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,200.
AS SEVERAL OTHER 2012 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4 OWNERS HAVE NOTED, IT TAKES ME FOREVER TO FILL MY TANK - PUMP KEEPS CLICKING OFF. THIS STARTED AT ABOUT 70,00 MILES - I NOW HAVE 80,00 MILES ON IT. OF COURSE MY VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED NEW, WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE FAULTY FUEL TANK TRANSFER TUBE. EVEN IF I PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE REAL PROBLEM AS OTHERS HAVE NOTED - IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS TANK VENT SYSTEM WHICH WOULD NECESSITATE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE WHOLE GAS TANK. C'MON CHRYSLER, PLEASE ADMIT THIS IS A PROBLEM AND DO THE RIGHT THING. IF NOT, I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANY FUTURE CHRYSLER VEHICLES.
I RECENTLY LEARNED OF THE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE AFTER I HAD BOUGHT IT. I AM HAVING A SIMILAR ISSUE AS DESCRIBED FOR THE RECALLED FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS EVER FIXED IN MY VEHICLE OR EVEN IF THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED FOR IT.
(1) SEAT BELTS/AIR BAGS: HAVE NOT HAD NOTICEABLE ISSUES WITH THESE YET HOWEVER ARE ASSOCIATED WITH A CHRYSLER RECALL #S61. IS A SAFETY RISK BECAUSE I COMMUTE TO WORK DAILY ON THE FREE WAY AND COULD GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT WHICH COULD BE DEADLY IF THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY OR IF THE SEATBELT DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. (2) AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SEAT BELTS: CHRYSLER RECALL # N01; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEGAN HAVING ISSUES SPONTANEOUSLY AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE AND HAVE PERSISTED. WARNING SIGNALS ON DASH WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING WHICH SEEMS TO BE ELECTRICAL-RELATED. JEEP WILL ALSO RANDOMLY ALERT WHILE DRIVING MAKING A, "DING" NOISE WHEN THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM. THIS SOFTWARE/ELECTRICAL ERROR COULD CAUSE AIR BAGS TO NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY AND CAN ADVERSELY AFFECT THE SEATBELT PRE-TENSIONERS AS WELL WHICH COULD BE DEADLY IN A HIGH-SPEED FREEWAY ACCIDENT. (3) FUEL SYSTEM,...
TAKATA RECALL MY CATCAYLIC CONVERTER WENT BAD ITS NOT WORKING DUE TO FAILURE AND VEHICLE WILL STALL AND NOT GO BACKWARD ARE FORWARD. I HERE ITS A A RECALL FOR THIS.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING ALMOST 2 MONTHS TO GET MY VEHICLE RECALL SERVICE. PROBLEM THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HAVE THE PART IN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. EVERYTIME I AM TOLD TO CALL BACK NEXT THIS IS TERRIBLE SERVICE THE RECALL IS FOR EMISSION RECALL- CATALYTIC CONVERTER EFFICIENCY I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR RECALL SERVICE LAST WEEK FOR 5/17/19. WHEN I ARRIVED THE DEALERSHIP DIDNT HAVE ME ON THE APPOINTMENT BOOK & ALL THE PARTS WERE NOT IN. MY VEHICLE ISNT DRIVING SMOOTH. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY
IT WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP MY 2012 JEEP PATRIOT BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH AN INTERNAL FUEL TANK FAILURE. MY MANUFACTURER DATE WAS NOV. 2011 AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED IN DEC. 2011 TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK (OF COURSE MY VEHICLE DIDN'T QUALIFY). I DO NOT HAVE $1600 TO REPLACE SOMETHING THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND FIX. I HAVE A FEELING THAT THEY KNEW THAT THESE GAS TANKS WERE FAULTY BEFORE DEC. 2011, AND IN ORDER TO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THEM, THEY TOOK THE EASY AND BARELY ANY MONEY OUT OF THEIR POCKET ROUTE AND DID A RECALL FOR THE TRANSFER HOSE HOPING THAT WOULD CORRECT THE ISSUE WHICH IF THAT'S WHAT THEY THOUGHT, SORRY IT DIDN'T WORK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, LET ALONE TRYING TO PUT GAS IN IT WITH THE GAS PUMP SHUTTING OFF EVERY FEW CENTS. THE ONLY WAY I...
ON MY WAY TO WORK, MY CAR STALLED 3 TIMES WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT AND ONCE WHILE MOVING. AFTER THE MOVING STALL, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE ERROR CODE IS P0339. IT ALSO STALLED TWICE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. IT DIDN'T STALL WHILE I WAS MOVING ON THE SECOND TRIP BECAUSE MY FOOT HAPPENED TO BE ON THE GAS WHEN IT TRIED TO STALL. I FELT THE CAR JERK BACKWARDS THEN RE-ENGAGE THE ENGINE BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE IT ALMOST STALLED. THE CAR HAD DONE A LITTLE JERK EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT NOW IT'S MULTIPLE TIMES IN A SINGLE TRIP.
AROUND 50000 MILES THE ENGINE STARTED TO STOP ACCELERATING DURING OPERATION. DURING DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET (AT ALL SPEEDS) THE ENGINE WOULD BEGIN TO MALFUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING AND THE MAXIMUM SPEED THAT COULD BE MET WAS ABOUT 10MPH WITH GAS FULLY ENGAGED. PULLINGNOVER AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERRIDE THIS FOR A SHORT TIME. IT STARTED TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY TO THE POINT I WOULD HAVE TO RESTART MY CAR A APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES TO MAKE A 9 MILE TRIP TO WORK. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 65MPH AND ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF ON TO THE SHOULDER. EVENTUALLY AFTER MONTHS OF THIS OCCURRING AT RANDOM INTERVALS THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND STEERING ABILITY OF THE VEHICLE THANKFULLY ON A QUIET BACK STREET WHERE I WAS...
CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL IT APPEARS THAT MY 2012 JEEP PATRIOT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECENT CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALL OF 2011-2016 JEEP PATRIOTS. YET, MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS PA STATE INSPECTION IN DECEMBER OF 2018 DUE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND FAILED EMISSIONS TESTS. AFTER PAYING $1200 TO GET MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPAIRED IN DECEMBER, FCA IS NOW ISSUING A RECALL IN MARCH ON ALL 2011-2016 JEEP PATRIOTS? EXCEPT MINE? WHY? FUTHERMORE, FCA CANADA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ISSUED A RECALL ON THE SAME VEHICLES BACK IN 2018. WHY WAS FCA AMERICA SO SLOW TO ISSUE A RECALL? I WANT TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE MONEY (I'M NOT A LARGE CORPORATION WITH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS) I PUT OUT FOR REPAIRS TO A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED SOONER AND WERE CAUSED BY FCA'S ATTEMPTS TO SAVE MONEY AND CIRCUMVENT THE EPA'S EMISSIONS AND SAFETY STANDARDS. THEREBY...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REFUELED AT A FUEL STATION, THE FUEL PUMP CLICKED OFF BEFORE ENOUGH FUEL ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AT DIFFERENT FUEL STATIONS. ONE ATTENDANT ATTEMPTED TO FILL UP THE TANK MANUALLY, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED.
GAS PUMP KEEPS CLICKING OFF WHEN FUELING. MECHANIC TESTED EVAP SYSTEM AND STATED VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW FUEL TANK. THE JEEP HAS 62,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. THIS IS AN UNUSUAL REPAIR AND IS EXTREMELY HIGH IN COST. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE INCLUDED AND COVERED WITH THE OTHER FUEL TANK RECALLS ON JEEP PATRIOTS.
WHEN FUELING, GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AFTER ~1PINT, MUST WAIT TO DRAIN DOWN, ANOTHER PINT CLICK OFF, DRAIN DOWN, ANOTHER PINT, WAIT TO DRAIN DOWN- TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO FILL TANK. ENGINE STUTTERS ON ACCELERATION, RPM'S DROP 500-1000, PROBABLY FUEL DELIVERY RELATED. ALL COILS, PLUGS, FILTERS REPLACED, INJECTORS CLEANED.
WHEN I WAS AT THE GAS STATION, FUEL PUMP KEPT SHUTTING OFF. I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM IS THE ROLLOVER VENT VALVE ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK DOES NOT OPEN TO RELEASE AIR. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE TANK AND THEIR ESTIMATION IS MORE THAN $1800 BEFORE THE TAX. I SEE THE SAME PROBLEM PEOPLE FILED HERE. THE REPAIR SHOULD BE ON THE MANUFACTURER SIDE INSTEAD OF CUSTOMERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP PATRIOT. AFTER THE CONTACT FILLED UP THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL AND WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
ISSUE IS I CANNOT FUEL TANK DUE TO FUEL TANK VALVE STUCK. I JUST HAD THE ESIM REPLACED BECAUSE THAT WAS WHAT THE DEALER SAID WAS THE ISSUE. PROBLEM WASN'T RESOLVED AND NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE FUEL TANK. I SAW WHERE THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND WERE RECALLED.
WHEN I TRY TO PUT GASOLINE IN MY CAR, THE PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT GASOLINE STATIONS. HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, BUT NOW IT IS WORSE EVERY TIME I TRY TO PUT FUEL IN THE TANK. I CONTACTED THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME NO RECALL FOR FOR MY JEEP.
VALVE IN FILLER NECK WILL NOT ALLOW FUEL TO ENTER TANK.
