During the day you can not see any of the display in the dash for fuel, MPH, any warnings as the electronics are stuck in the night mode and the only time you se see them is when it’s dark outside.. this is the 2nd time the car has done this it did it the first time last year about this time the only way I found to fix it was to disconnect both batteries
Vehicle is experiencing the same issue for recall 15A, NHTSA Campaign Number 23V058000. The instrument panel no longer adjusts its lighting, and remains extremely dim at all times. This is especially detrimental during the hours of daylight. Vehicle is a 2022 Jeep Compass, similar to those under recall 15A, and is not currently listed for the recall. FCA refused to take the complaint until a dealer officially identifies the issue. The local dealership wanted to charge ~$160 for a diagnostic check.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at an unspecified speed, the instrument panel failed to visibly display vehicle information. There were unknown warning lights illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact determined that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V058000 (Electric System). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed an improperly illuminated instrument panel in relation to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V058000 (Electric System). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 17,900.
The digital display that appears dim during daylight and full sun, rendering the fuel gauge, cruise control, and safety features useless during the day.
I have had my Jeep for 13 months and suddenly the digital cluster display on the dashboard and the Uconnect tablet are so dim that during the day they are unable to be seen. I am unable to see my fuel gauge, or any vehicle warning icons that may appear. This is a HUGE safety issue. I am also unable to use the onboard navigation with the Uconnect tablet which is one of the things that I love about my Jeep. I took it to the dealership and they showed me a Jeep bulletin dated September/2022 addressing this issue (case number:S2208000157) stating "engineering is investigating a service solution" and was informed that there is currently no fix for this problem even though it is very common in the 2022 Jeep Compass. This is unacceptable.
The dashboard light on my jeep compass is so dim during the daylight hours I am unable to read or see and of the tires gauge or the fuel tank display. If the uconnect warning of a low fuel wouldn't of shown up on my phone I could have ran out of gas and not know it. This isn't safe. I have taken the vehicle in several times and have been told the same thing. There is nothing wrong with it. Now I see during some research that others are having the same problem.
The dashboard screen and main screen have been stuck in night mode for around 6 months. This makes driving during daytime hours extremely difficult because the dashboard screen cannot be seen. This screen includes, but is not limited to fuel level, speed, tire pressure, lane departure warning, and temperature. The vehicle has been to the dealer multiple times and the manufacturer has been contacted. There is a recall involving this issue, however, my vehicle was not included in the recall, but I am having the exact problem described.
The dashboard screen and main screen have been stuck in night mode for months. This makes driving during daytime hours extremely difficult because the dashboard screen cannot be seen. This screen includes, but is not limited to, speed, tire pressure, lame departure warning, and temperature. The vehicle has been to the dealer multiple times and the manufacturer has been contacted. The problem has been known to the manufacturer since at least November 2022. A recalled was issued describing these problems. However, this vehicle was not included in the recall and while my dealer received permission to order the parts, the parts are still not even available to perform the repair and there is no ETA on when they will be ready.
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with my 2022 Jeep Compass. In November 2022, both the center digital cluster screen and radio screen went dim and have not returned to full brightness since. I have already taken the car to the dealer twice, but they have not been able to resolve the issue, and have advised me to wait for a recall. I am extremely dissatisfied with this response, as I am unable to view the screens during the daytime, which poses a significant safety concern for me and my passengers. It is unacceptable that a vehicle that is barely a year old is experiencing such a significant issue. I strongly urge Jeep to take immediate action to rectify this problem. I have already spent considerable time and money taking my car to the dealership, and the issue has not been resolved. As a loyal Jeep customer,...
Cluster digital display appears dim in the daylight with minimum backlighting
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that on various occasions while driving during the daytime, the instrument panel failed to illuminate properly for the contact to see the gauges. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated, and the contact was informed that the instrument panel lighting could be adjusted. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V058000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while his wife was driving 70 MPH, the instrumental panel and the infotainment screen went into nighttime mode and were no longer visible. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V058000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
Both the center digital cluster screen as well as the center radio screen have gone dim back in November 2022 and have not come back to normal brightness since. Both are not able to be seen during the daytime hours. I have had my vehicle at my local dealership twice and was told to wait for a recall and that there was nothing they can do. I cannot see my gas milage or gage during the daytime. I cannot view the digital speedometer during the day time either. I am at a loss on what to do with this issue. Jeep has provided no fixes. This is a safety issue especially during the day time. I cannot see my screens!
CENTER CLUSTER ON DASH (FUEL LEVEL, ECO SAVE METER, ETC.) IS STUCK IN NIGHT TIME MODE. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING TO RESET SO I CAN SEE MY DASH DURNING THE DAY. ITS SO DARK THAT I RAN OUT OF GAS DURING THE DAY BECUASE I COULD SEE MY FUEL LEVEL! DEALERSHIP WANTS MY VEHICLE FOR 5 DAYS TO FIGURE IT OUT AND THEY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. FIX THIS PLEASE! IT STARTED A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. (9 MILES FIRST DRIVE, WENT DARK AROUND 3,000 MILES, STILL DARK AFTER 10,000 MILES) THIS IS VERY FRUSTATING WHEN YOU CANT SEE YOUR DASH!
I have two issues with my vehicle. The first is the lighting on the instrument panel. As of February 7, 2023, the center display in my vehicle appears to be stuck in night mode, resulting in an inability to see the fuel gauge or warning lights during daylight hours. I have taken it to my dealer to report the issue, and they said that is a known issue with 2022 jeep compasses but they are not aware of how to fix it. The service technician agreed that it would be hard to deal with and dangerous to drive. I have hence found the recall information on the on the NHTSA site, but when I enter my VIN number, it says there is no recall for my vehicle. The second issue is that the forward collision warning light is constantly on. When I go into the vehicle settings, it sometimes shows...
Dashboard cluster display is not visible during daylight
The Compass has been stuck in “night mode,” cannot adjust the navigation panel or more importantly, the dashboard. I cannot see the dashboard in daylight, not able to see mph, any warnings etc. I see there is a recall but my car is not listed. I took it to the dealer in mid March 2023 and they said there was nothing they could do. Please help! I purchased this vehicle used and the issue was present.
Vehicle will not switch to night mode for interior dash and infotainment system display. The center touch screen unit has already been replaced for a separate problems of it turning itself off and staying black with no access to touch screen controls. The option to adjust the night settings is greyed out, so it cannot be selected to adjust. Daytime setting has to be adjusted to lowest setting and is still extremely bright while driving at night. I have had this vehicle into the dealership several times for this issue, the last time the service manager had to drive the vehicle at night to "duplicate" the problem. I had to go to the dealership, sit in the car and show him exactly what was going on. It is very difficult to drive at night with bright dash and center display lights. I have reported this as a safety issue several...
My instrument cluster has went dark. It stays in dark mode during the day. I am unable to visually see my speed while I’m driving. My AEB system is also having issues. I have tried to remedy this at the dealership, but they say there is no resolution.
Vehicle is stuck in night mode
My instrument cluster/dashboard glitched and became stuck in night mode. Whenever I would drive during daytime hours it became impossible to see my radio screen along with my speedometer since it's all a screen. Because of this I can barely see my speed or fuel level or any alerts along with not being able to see my GPS screen. I brought it to the dealer and they have no fix for it yet so it's been sitting at the dealership over a month. I am currently trying to get Jeep to buy the car back from me. Thank you!
My infotainment screen and middle of my instrument cluster on the dash will not brighten during the day therefore I cannot see anything on either things. I have tried going into the settings, choosing manual settings to adjust the brightness but it is grayed out and not allowing me to make any changes.
Forward collision sensor kept turning itself off, now my vehicle is telling me to service my headlights, 4WD, airbags and other sensors. Vehicle has also turned off while driving and deployed the AEB when driving. Have taken it to the dealership twice. Dealer contacted the manufacture which they were unable to determine the issue.
The vehicle was stopped at a light and the car shut off by itself. The electrical stayed on, but I had to put the vehicle in park, restart the car, and turn off the emergency brake that turned itself on. This incident happened twice so far for a 2022 compass bought in May 2022. The first time was around 3,000 miles in November 2022. The second time was around 9,300 miles on 03/05/23. Each time the vehicle almost caused an accident when the Jeep was stuck on a busy ramp. Will be booking an appointment with the dealership to have this documented.
The dash lighting and radio are not dimmable, nearly impossible to see in bright daylight. Radio flashes on and off. Freezes up. Screens and input changes intermittently. The lights are sometimes too dark to see at night and dimmer switches don't do anything. I have had numerous problems with the electrical issues with this vehicle. There needs to be an investigation or recall for these issues. They get fixed at the dealership, only to return. Lastly, the defroster won't turn off. Heat is directed through the defroster and rear center stack when only on floor mode. Dealer says they fixed it and operating normally, but it isn't. Just too many issues with this vehicle. Seems to all be electrical in nature.
Please see uploaded documents for a personal account of all issues on the 2022 Jeep Compass. Yes, it is available for inspection. No warning indications prior to incidents. I went to dealership & they are aware of issues with the mechanical & electrical system, however they did not offer any resolution. No, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or anyone else. The issues began within a few days of being bought on 9/12/22. The incidents are random, ongoing, and increasing. No, the issues have not been reproduced or confirmed by anyone. I live 2 hrs from the dealership, however I have made numerous trips to them & on 1/24/23 did make them aware of the problems in writing. I have tried returning the vehicle on several occasions. No one would work with me, return phone calls or emails. They did agreed to a trade but with a...
I have 3 issues with my vehicle: 1. Whenever I am in my vehicle for more than 20 minutes the radio starts to fade out and eventually all sound on the vehicle is muted. This happens every time I drive the vehicle for more than 20 minutes an can only be resolved by shutting off the vehicle for an extended period. 2. I was driving on the highway at 65 mph when my car suddenly started braking and nearly caused a rear end collision with the vehicle behind. I tried to continue pressing the accelerator, but the car was not advancing. Fortunately the vehicle did not come to a full stop and I was able to recover. 3. Just the other day my vehicle started to display a light on the dashboard that has warned me that the Forward Collision Warning system is now off. None of the above issues...
2 issues 1 - false positive AEB while driving with no obstacles around on a rural road (speed and mileage below) 2 - backup camera delays, sometimes well into a reverse drive
As the vehicle is driven for longer periods of time (over 45 minutes), the instrument panel and control system for the car freezes and slowly fades out on the audio. Once the audio is faded completely it can no longer play the radio, calls or any alerts. The issue continues with freezing the instrument panel and the lane assist, collision warning and pedestrian sensors stop working. This becomes a safety issue as you can no longer use the hands-free device as your car auto-connects via blue tooth. It is also a major issue as the sensors on the vehicle are not dependable for operation. This happens every time you operate the vehicle for longer periods of time.
After operating the vehicle for more than 45 minutes radio volume fades and can't hear radio and/or navigation, nor make wireless calls. Volume will not work again until car sits overnight. These vehicles are purchased by people that sometimes drive long distances in inclement weather - not having access to these features (such as radio access to hear weather and road closures) is a hazard. As is not being able to hands free telephone access. Problem is widespread, dealers aren't aware of it, don't know how to fix it, and is widely discussed on MyJeepCompass site by owners who are experiencing the problem shortly after purchase.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The START/STOP system message was displayed. The computer screen went blank. The drive button on the instrument cluster and gear selector were blinking. The parking brake engaged without warning. While driving the vehicle at slow speeds, the vehicle jerked forward and failed to respond as needed. The contact waited for the vehicle to restart. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 19,900.
The infotainment systems volume fades to the point where nothing can be heard. This impacts: radio, but also Android Auto/Apple Car play for audio alerts, jeep assistance and hands free call functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they confirmed Jeep knows about the issue and it will require a software update - TBD. Meanwhile, my new vehicle is useless for any kind of audio functionality. This is a distraction while driving and poses safety concerns.
I was on the entrance ramp for the freeway and the gas pedal disengaged. I could not accelerate and my car slowed down. A message on the display said to service electronic throttle. This has happened to me twice. My car is barely six months old. I was going 40 mph at the time. Today, I was getting into my car after picking up lunch and as I sat down, the alarm went off for close to 4 minutes. I unlocked and locked the key fob, I started the car and turned it off, and repeated everything about twenty times. I'm in a very public place sitting inside of a car whose alarm won't shut off...anyone could've called the police on me. Someone probably did. The alarm is supposed to shut off at 90 seconds, why didn't it? Why have an alarm that won't disengage? When I press the button...
Display on dash is stuck in "night mode", during the day I can not see my speedometer nor my gas gauge.
On Feb 8th, 2022 the four wheel drive quit working giving message to service 4wd. The front tires turned and the back tired did not turn and the car did not move forward or backwards. If this would have happened in an area that was remote and no people around I would have not been able to get help. This is a safety issue as car was inoperable and could have stranded me in a remote location. Leased this vehicle on Dec 29, 2021 and issues started Jan 5th, the screen would not work was unable to control heat, radio, navigation, hands free, cruise control etc. Was in Tennessee where it was warm and no heat needed, headed back to MN to negative 30 degrees and no heat, could have froze if car would have stopped. With no heat in MN at negative 30 degrees it is unsafe to drive...
