The frame Infront where the motor and steering attach rotted completely threw, separated at the weld. It is a safety hazard where steering is affected. The dash lights for the traction, abs, and even the cruise control are on and those items are no longer functional. This car was purchased in 2017, Holiday automotive in Fondulac, Wi with this condition apparent. The mechanic who changed my oil reported it to me in the spring of 2018. And as of this spring the car is undrivable as it is broken. If this were to break while someone were driving it, an accident would happen.

While driving about 40mph the car violently changed lanes with no warning. Luckily no cars were near and i was able to bring the car back under control. I have experienced loose steering before but never to this extreme. I am scared to drive car fearing for safety of myself and passengers. I have read up about these cars and all the problems they have of which I have experienced quite a few myself. I was told the car needed extensive repair to the front end and that there was extensive corrosion to many parts on the under carriage.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
THE HOLE FRAME IS RUSTED AND BROKE UP FRONT. BALL JOINTS ARE POPPING AND NOT BAD. THE SWAY BARS ARE POPPING AND NOT BAD. READING BRAKES BUT ARE GOOD. BUT ALL IN ALL FRAME BAD RUSTED OUT AND BUSTED.
PURCHASED A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 2ND HAND AND FOUND REAR SUBFRAME AND SUSPENSION PARTS IS SEVERELY RUSTED . THE VEHICLE CLUNKS AND HOPPS WITH EVERY BUMP IN THE ROAD. IF YOU RUN OVER THE REFLECTORS WHILE CHANGING LANES VEHICLE WILL ABRUPTLY JERK IN THE DIRECTION YOU ARE GOING. TOOK IT TO JEEP THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT EXPIRED IN 2017 I DON'T THINK THERE SHOULD BE AN EXPIRATION DATE FOR A SAFETY HAZARD THAT THOUSANDS OF JEEPS AND OR DODGES HAVE THEY TOLD ME THEY CANT HELP ME. *TR
THE SUSPENSION ON THE 2007 JEEP COMPASS FEELS DANGEROUS. REPLACED STRUTS AND HAD OTHER SUSPENSION WORK DONE, YET VEHICLE WOBBLES LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN HITTING BUMPS. FEELS LIKE IT IS SKIDDING ACROSS THE ROAD. NOTICABLE AT LOW SPEEDS FEELS UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
CLICKING NOISE FROM SUSPENSION AREA WHEN DRIVING. VEHICLE ONLY DRIVEN AT SLOWER SPEEDS AS IT'S VEHICLE MY DAUGHTER DRIVES TO SCHOOL. I TOOK TO MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE FRAME IS BADLY RUSTED AND JUST TOUCHING IT TO SHOW ME THE FRAME WAS BREAKING. VEHICLE HAS TO HAVE THE FRAME REPLACED TO SAFELY DRIVE VEHICLE AGAIN. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO A CAR OF THIS AGE.

INSPECTION AFTER CLUNKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE REVEALED SEVERE ROT AND CORROSION OF THE SUBFRAME WITH THE MOUNTING FOR THE ANTI-ROLL BAR COMPLETED BROKEN AWAY FROM THE SUBFRAME. ALSO SEVERE CORROSION AROUND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM MOUNTING APPEARED TO BE CLOSE TO THE FAILURE POINT. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. FOUND FCA INTERNAL WARRANTY DOCUMENT ID-14-02 FOR THE SUBFRAME CORROSION ISSUE DATED 5/19/14 WHICH REFERS TO FCA SERVICE BULLETIN 23-012-14 AND STATES THAT ALL DEALER PERSONNEL ARE TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS BULLETIN. I HAVE A RECEIPT FOR OTHER REPAIRS FROM AN FCA DEALER DATED 7/28/14, 2 MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY BULLETIN DATE AND THERE WAS NO NOTIFICATION GIVEN ABOUT THE INSPECTION MANDATED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND NOTHING NOTED ON THE RECEIPT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT STARTED PULLING TO THE LEFT AND STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING. THERE WAS ALSO A POUND SQUEALING NOISE. WHILE COMING TO A STOP, AT A LIGHT IN HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES FELT SHARP JERK IN STEERING WITH A LOUD SNAP NOISE. NOT KNOWING WHAT IT WAS WHEN LIGHT CHANGED AND I PROCEEDED FORWARD APROX. 2-3FT WHEN CAR CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP JERKING TO THE LEFT. IMMEADIATELY PLACED CAR IN PARK AND LOOKED OUT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW TO SEE FRONT LEFT WHEEL ANGLED BACK APROX 35 DEGREES AND JAMED INTO FENDER WELL. CALLED TOW COMPANY AND POLICE ARRIVED TO DIRECT AND DIVERT TRAFFIC, NO POLICE REPORT MADE BY POLICE BECAUSE NO INJURIES OR OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. TOW TRUCK DRIVER & POLICE BOTH STATED I WAS FORTUNATE, BECAUSE HAD I BEEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT HAPPEND IT COULD BEEN VERY SERIOUS AND/OR FATAL TO NOT ONLY ME BUT OTHERS AS WELL. CAR TOWED TO NEAREST REPAIR SHOP WERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT SUBFRAME...
REAR CROSS BAR AXLE IS DEFECTIVE. THE WHEEL SUSPENSION IS DETERIATED TO THE POINT THAT THE WHEELS PROTRUDE OUWARD FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING EXTREME WEAR ON THE INSIDE PART OF THE REAR TIRES TO THE POINT OF WIRES ON RADIAL TIRES ARE EXPOSED. THE OUTSIDE PART OF THE TIRES SHOW MINIMUM WEAR. MECHANICS SAY THIS CROSS BAR AXLE IS POOR QUALITY STEEL OR STEEL THAT WASN'T CURED AND FINISHED PROPERLY. THE CROSS BAR AXLE IS LITERALLY ERODING WITH HOLES OCCURRING RIGHT THROUGH THE AXLE ITSELF. FEAR IS THE CAR IS BECOMING TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITHOUT FEAR THAT UPON HITTING A BUMP THE REAR WHEELS WILL SPREAD APART AND THE CAR FALL TO THE GROUND.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

THE FRONT LEFT SIDE HAS COME APART 2 TIMES FROM THE BALL JOINT AND A FRAME. TODAY IT FELT AND SOUNDED THE SAME I TOOK IT IN TO A SHOP IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT THE FRONT TIRE COMING OF AGAIN. THE MECHANIC PUT IT UP ON THE LIFT AND CAME AND GOT ME. THE ENGINE CRADLE IS TOTALLY ROTTEN THIS IS WERE ALL OF YOUR FRONT END PART ARE HELD IN PLACE. THE SAID THING IS I STILL OWE 2 MORE YEARS ON THIS JEEP WHAT CAN I DO!!??.
WHEN FILLED UP WITH FUEL, CAR STALLS OUT AND CUTS OFF. I HAVE REPLACED ALL OF THE BEARINGS AND CAR STILL MAKES A ROARING NOISE WITH THE AXLE. UPPER CONTROL ARMS ARE COMPLETELY DAMAGED. BATTERY LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED BUT DOES NOT STAY ON. LIGHT STAYS ON INDICATING VACUUM HOSE ISSUE. 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT STAYS ON.
WHILE DRIVING, I STARTED HEARING SOME BUMPING UNDERNEATH MY COMPASS AND A DAY LATER IT KNOCK AND DRIVING ROUGH. I MADE IT TO WORK AND IMMEDIATELY CALL TOW. A DAY AFTER THE TOW, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY SUB FRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE. I ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR TWO TEARS AND A FEW MONTHS, AND STILL PAYING FOR IT. I CONTACTED JEEP CORP. AND WAS TOLD THE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. MY FIDELITY WARRANTY STATES WHAT THEY COVER, BUT WHEN I CONTACTED THEM THEY TOLD ME THAT AFTER FIVE YEARS THEY DEEMS THE BAD TIE RODS AS WEAR & TEAR. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT WHEN I PURCHASED THE SERVICE CONTRACT. IF MY PRAYERS AREN'T HEARD, THEN I MUST PAY $2700 OUT OF MY POCKET.

IN ADDITION, ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2013, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE STALLED, BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CONTROL ARM AND BUSHING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.

I GET FROM READING ON LINE AND JUST THAT THEY KNEW THAT THIS WAS A POSSIBLE PROBLEM, THAT THIS WAS A COMMON THING. I HAD A REAR LEFT WHEEL BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY REMOVED AND REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE VERY LOUD NOISES IT PRODUCED. MY VEHICLE, HAS A ROUGH RIDE, TRACTION LIGHT FLASHES OFTEN. I HAD SEVERAL REPAIRS DONE ON MY FRONT IN JUNE 2014, (UPPER,LOWER CONTROL ARMS, LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES, ROTORS ,BRAKES AND TIRES ARE ALWAYS NEEDED). ON FEBRUARY 2,2015 MY LEFT FRONT BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARMS BROKE AND MY WHEEL BROKE OFF, I AM CURRENTLY IN NEED OF MORE CONTROL ARM AND STRUT REPAIR ON MY RIGHT SIDE AGAIN! MY VEHICLE CLUMPS AND HAS A ROUGH RIDE, I AM IN CONSTANT FEAR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE,BECAUSE OF THE CONSTANT ISSUES WITH MY FRONT END, EVEN AFTER ITS REPAIRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT AND CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT END SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY HAD THE RIGHT CONTROL ARM REPAIRED UNDER A MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. DJR
BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2007. REPLACED LEFT AND RIGHT CONTROL ARMS IN 2010 AND AGAIN IN 2014. THE CAR ONLY HAS 60,603 MILES AND ITS ON ITS 3RD SET OF CONTROL ARMS. I SHOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH CONTROL ARMS THAT FAST. I DRIVE LESS THAN 2 MILES TO WORK EVERYDAY. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH JEEP IN 2010 AND THEY PAID AS "GOOD WILL REPAIR". THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE 2014 EVEN THOUGH ITS ONLY 30,000 MILES LATER. CONTROL ARMS SHOULD BE LASTING LONGER THAN 30,000 MILES! THE CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS REPAIRS INCLUDING A GAS TANK PROBLEM WHERE GAS POURED BACK OUT AT YOU WHILE YOU PUMP. CLEARLY THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE. UPON AN INSPECTION OF THE UNDERNEATH OF MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS, IT WAS FOUND THAT MY FRONT SUB FRAME (ALSO KNOWN AS THE K FRAME) HAS SERIOUS RUST ISSUES. THERE IS ACTUALLY A SECTION ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE SUB FRAME THAT HAS RUSTED OUT (APPROX. 1/2 INCH BY 4 INCH IN SIZE). AFTER SOME INVESTIGATING ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT JEEP HAS NOT RECALLED THIS ISSUE. I WILL BE REPLACING THE PART BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE ALTERNATOR STOPS WORKING AFTER 90000 MILES. YOU HEAR A BIG THUMPING SOUND LIKE A TANK. YOU DO FEEL IT BUT, IS LOUD WHEN ACCELERATING AND ACCELERATING. *TR
THE CAR BEGAN PULLING IN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE INTERMITTENTLY. I WAS A HALF MILE FROM HOME, SO I TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK HOME. AS I DROVE INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE AND ENTIRE FRONT RIGHT SUSPENSION COMPLETELY FELL DOWN (ALMOST COMPLETELY OFF) AND THE TIRE WAS PUSHED SIDEWAYS AND INTO THE FRAME OF THE WHEEL WELL ON THE CAR. THE CAR CAME TO AN IMMEDIATE AND ABRUPT HALT. HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD WHEN THIS OCCURRED, MY CAR WOULD HAVE FLIPPED AND I WOULD HAVE CRASHED AND COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM AND DEFECT THAT I BELIEVE SHOULD BE PART OF A RECALL. I HAVE READ MANY REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR CONCERNING THE WHEEL BEARINGS, LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND TIE RODS. ON JUNE 13 2011 MY COMPASS WITH ONLY 17085 MILES ON IT, HAD CRACKED A FRONT SPRING THAT HAD GRINDED A RING AROUND MY PASS SIDE TIRE. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE WAS AND STILL IS UNDER WARRANTY. TODAY IS JANUARY 3 2013 AND GUESS WHAT? I NOW HAVE TO CONTACT THE DEALER AND PROBABLY CHRYSLER AGAIN. ENTIRE SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS NOTHING BUT JUNK. REPLACED TIE ROD ENDS, INNER AND OUTER, BALL JOINTS, SWAY BAR LINKS, STRUTS, HUBS AND AXLE. SOME OF THESE PARTS MORE THAN ONCE. THE TIRE CAME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO FALLING OFF THE VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 24 HR NOTICE THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. FAILED INSPECTION LAST YEAR FOR TIE ROD END THAT WAS REPLACED PREVIOUS YEAR. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE CVT PART WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.

TOOK VEHICLE FOR YEARLY INSPECTION WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED, NEW. THEY WERE AT THAT TIME A CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER. IT DIDN'T PASS THE INSPECTION DUE TO THE POOR CONDITION OF THE BALL JOINTS - MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS ONLY 14,258. IT WAS SUGGESTED I CONTACT CHRYSLER TO NOTIFY THEM. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL QUALIFIED DEALERSHIP. IT WAS TAKEN FOR THEM TO CHECK THE BALL JOINTS. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF NOT DRIVING THE CAR DUE TO ITS DANGEROUS CONDITION, THE BALL JOINTS AND BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $214.00. THE TREATMENT I RECEIVED AND THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TOOK THEM TO DECIDE TO DO THE JOB AT THE "QUALIFIED DEALER" WAS INEXCUSABLE.
