dashboard had check engine light on. transaxle indicator light turned on when i was driving about 65 mph on the freeway and slowed down and wouldn’t accelerate. The large commercial truck behind me was unable to stop on time that it almost hit us behind. There was a construction on my right lane and cars on my left lane. it took me some seconds to reach the end of construction site in my right lane. A second or two more not changing lane to my right side would have hit me and my children. All the truck driver was able to do was pressed on the horn to make me aware that he is too close behind me. MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS WAS JUST SITTING IN THE YARD NOT BEING DRIVEN WAS NOT HOT AND IT JUST CAUGHT ON FIRE BY ITSELF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO COME AND ASSIST WITH PUT IN THE FIRE OUT THE FIRE CHIEF STATED FROM HIS INVESTIGATION THAT IT WAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM FROM THE LIGHTS AND AS I SAID THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEING OPERATED AND THE LIGHTS WAS NOT ON
ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING LOST COMPLETE ELECTRICAL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE ESSENTIALLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND AT A LIGHT. I HAVE TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT PRESENTS SAFETY ISSUES.
THE TIPM IS FAILING CAUSED ME TO STALL AT 70MPH ON A HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC DOORS UNLOCKED AND THEN THREW ALL ELECTRICAL CODES
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON PAID $800 DOLLARS TO RESOLVE ISSUES, I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. A FEW SENSORS(OIL, HEATING ETC) WERE REPLACED, O2 SENSORS WERE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SYSTEM. THIS IS CREATING A VERY SERIOUS HEADACHE PROBLEM. I TRIED WITH NUMEROUS CAR REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. THEY CHECK THE CODES AND THEIR RESPONSE IS "IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS WHATS WRONG WITH IT, BUT THERE IS NO WARRANTY, THAT WE CAN RESOLVE THE ISSUES. ISSUES ARE HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE, EMERGENCY BRAKE, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNAVAILABLE, AND COLLISION CENTER INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER (BOARDWALK JEEP, 1 BAIR ISLAND RD, REDWOOD CITY, CA 94063) STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FROM AUGUST 29, 2017 TO NOVEMBER 4, 2017. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ENGINE INDICATOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN RANDOMLY SOUNDED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO FUSE TO CONNECT AND DISCONNECT TO PREVENT THE NOISE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
IT WAS LIKE A GHOST TOOK OVER IT SCARED ME TO DEATH. MY LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, BLINKER CAME ON WOULDN'T GO OFF, WIPERS WERE GOING FULL SPEED AND THE DASH WHERE IT TELLS YOU SOUTH, NORTH, EAST AND WEST STOP WORKING. IT'S SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THIS CAR AND READING THE FORUMS WITH THE SAME ISSUES SHOULD BE A RECALL.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN APRIL 2016. IN JUNE 2016, MY HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. IT WOULD TURN ON AND OFF ON IT'S OWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 6 WEEKS OF THE CAR BEING IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP, DUE TO THE LIGHT WORKING ON IT'S OWN AND THEM NOT HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE I WAS HAVING, THEY FINALLY SEE WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM FAILED, AND REPLACED IT. FEB 2017, MY WIPERS BEGAN TURNING ON AND OFF ON THEIR OWN, OR JUST NOT WORKING AT ALL. THEY WOULD GO ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING, NOT SHUT OFF WHEN THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, AND AT TIMES THE SWITCH WOULD NOT EVEN TURN THEM ON WHEN I NEEDED THEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY HAVE AGAIN DETERMINED THAT THE TIPM, WHICH IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD,...
I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD HARDLY MOVE FORWARD, OR PULL AHEAD BACK IN THE DRIVEWAY. HAD IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE AND THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID ITS WIRING AND TRANSMISSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMP FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM FOR THE HEAD LAMPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT BALL JOINTS AND STRUTS WERE CORRODED AND ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE STRUTS AND BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE AND PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED AND A TUNE UP WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED TO SHIFT GEARS AND WAS JERKING AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STALL. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ON 6/30/13. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSORS AND THE O2 HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED....
MY VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER INTERMITTENTLY. IT WOULD REMAIN RUNNING, BUT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLASH. AT FIRST, THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, SOLVED BY PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT. EVENTUALLY, THIS BECAME AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE, UNTIL EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN START DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR MY YEAR AND MAKE AND MODEL, BUT THE DATABASE STATES THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES IN FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC ON NARROW SHOULDERS.

IN ADDITION, TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND FUEL CAP WAS DISPLAYED ON THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE RADIATOR FANS CONTINUED TO FUNCTION AFTER THE KEY WAS EJECTED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.
I WAS DRIVING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WALMART AND THE CAR ACTUALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. I COASTED INTO THE PARKING SPOT AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND THE CAR TURNED ON AND THEN TURNED BACK OFF. I CALL AAA AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO NTB. THEY HOOKED THE CAR UP AND STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. WHILE IN BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS, WIPERS TOTALLY STOPPED WORKING. ELECTRICAL ISSUE. CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN RAIN CONDITIONS. *TR
BELIEVED TO BE A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF, RPMS, SPEEDOMETER, ETC. WILL DROP TO ZERO, AFTER RETURNING TO NORMAL, AIRBAG LIGHT WILL STAY ILLUMINATED. KEY DOESN'T ALWAYS READ TO UNLOCK. HAS A COUPLE INSTANCES WHERE KEY WOULD TURN AND CLICK BUT CAR WOULDN'T TURN ON WHEN WHEEL WASN'T COMPLETELY STRAIGHT. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP, THEY INVESTIGATED THE CAUSE OF THE ALARM, AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CODE HAD TO DO WITH THE EVAPORATOR SYSTEM, OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, WHICH I THINK MONITORS RETURN VAPORS AND HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH EMISSION CONTROLS. THEY DISCOVERED, AFTER TRACING THE CAUSE OF THE AIR LEAKAGE, THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE, WHICH IS PLASTIC, WAS BURNT AND DISTENDED DUE TO AN OVERHEATING FUEL PUMP. THIS APPARATUS IS AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND CAN BE ACCESSED THROUGH A "TRAP DOOR" BENEATH THE SECOND SEATS. VAPOR WAS BEING EMITTED AT THAT POINT. THERE WAS NEVER ANY WARNING OR SOUNDS TO INDICATE THE FUEL PUMP WAS OVERHEATING. THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL MODULE ARE BEING REPLACED AND THE TECHNICIANS THINK THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY I WAS LUCKY THAT NO VAPORS IGNITED BECAUSE THE GAS...

ON NOV. 21 I TOOK MY JEEP COMPASS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH THE PEDAL WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN. THE CAR WAS JERKING AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS PRETTY MUCH GOING CRAZY. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC THAT THE DID ON THE PCM SHOWED THAT THERE WERE COMPUTER ERRORS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY HAD TO RESET THE CODES AND CLEAR ALL OF THE ERRORS AND THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. ON 12/11 THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ADVISED THEM THAT THE SAME ISSUED OCCURRED AGAIN. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATE THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT THEY HAD SPOKEN TO CHRYSLER AND THAT CHRYSLER...
CAR ENGINE STALLING AND IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP FOR A TUNE UP 11//09. DEALER CHANGED COUPLE OF PLUGS BUT NOTHING ELSE WAS NEEDED. 1/10 CAR TOWED TO DEALER. DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE ACTING UP, ENGINE STARTED STALLING AND COULDN'T ACCELERATE, CAR SIMPLY DIED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. DEALER SAID IT WAS A BAD COIL. ASKED ME IF I HAD WASHED ENGINE, ANSWER WAS NO. DEALER REPLACED COIL AND STATED PROBLEM WAS FIXED. CAR STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING ON 1-16 (GA), CAR WOULD STALL, COULDN'T ACCELERATE, EVEN THOUGH PEDAL WAS TO THE CAR FLOOR. EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD ACTED UP, (ONE OF MY TIRES HAD 10 AIR PRESSURE, PULLED OVER AND TIRE HAD 35 AIR PRESSURE).
