WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON I-95 THE 2014 HYUNDAI SONATA ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED SLOWING DOWN WHILE I WAS IN THE HOV LANE HEADING SOUTH BOUND, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT GIVING IN ( NOT WORKING ) SO I GRADUALLY SLOWED DOWN WITH WHAT EVER SPEED GENERATED BEFORE MY GAS PEDESTAL STOPPED WORKING AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF TOWARD MY DESTINATION SO WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR STARTED RUMBLING AND PERFORMING DIFFERENTLY THEN USUALLY SO WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION TO LEAVE TO WORK THE CAR TURNED ON BUT THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT WORKING FOR NOTHING SO I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND IT JUST GAVE UP ON ME, I EVEN GOT A JUMP AND TRIED EVERYTHING BECAUSE I AM VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE OF CARS, BUT WHEN MY...

THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN SERVICE CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 946 (UNDERBODY CORROSION PREVENTATIVE SERVICE AND SERVICE CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 953 (ECM & CLUSTER UPDATE-ENGINE MONITORING LOGIC PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT). THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO WIESNER HYUNDAI (1645 INTERSTATE 45 N, CONROE, TX 77304, (936) 523-6300) TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT CALL THE CONTACT BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 75 ON THE INTERSTATE; TAKEN TO MECHANIC WHO REPORTS THAT ENGINE OIL IS FULL OF METAL SHAVINGS AND WILL NEED A NEW MOTOR. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 150,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED SO THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT A WARNING.

ON 4/19/2019, I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT 60 MPH ON FREEWAY AND SUDDENLY CAR'S SPEED DROPPED TO 20 MPH WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (MIL) BLINKING. ALSO CAR WAS HESITATING AND WASN'T GOING BEYOND 20 MPH AFTER THAT. IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE / LOW POWER MODE. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO HYUNDAI'S DEALERSHIP ON 4/20/2019. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE KNOCK SENSOR HARNESS AND IT HAS BEEN REPLACED UNDER CAMPAIGN T3G. I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON 4/23/2019 BUT MY CAR IS STILL HAVING KNOCKING SOUND, CAR IS HESITATING AND I GOT THE ENGINE LIGHT (MIL) BACK UP AGAIN ON THE VERY NEXT DAY I.E. 4/24/2019. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL NOISE, FAILED TO ACCELERATE, AND EXCESSIVE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THIS IS AN ON-GOING ISSUE. ORIGINALLY BEGAN MID MARCH OF 2019. THUS FAR ALL HAVE BEEN COVERED BY WARRANTY. LUCKILY, I'D JUST GOTTEN OFF OF I-95 WHEN THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS BEGAN. THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED, CAR ONLY ACCELERATED TO APPX 30 MPH, HESITATED AND SPUTTERED, AS IF IT WANTED TO STALL. ON THE OCCASION IN MARCH MY CAR, WITH APPX 82,000 MILES, WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. ON, OR ABOUT, APRIL 5TH I WAS TOLD ONE OF TWO ISSUES ARE INVOLVED. ONE WAS THE WIRING HARNESS (KNOCK SENSOR) OR ENGINE REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED. HYUNDAI AUTHORIZED THE KNOCK SENSOR REPLACEMENT AND I RECEIVED THE CAR ON APRIL 14TH. I F I RECALL CORRECTLY, THE KNOCK SENSOR WAS A RECALL ISSUE. ALL WAS SEEMINGLY FINE UNTIL JUNE 10TH. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE PER HYUNDAIS "953" SERVICE CAMPAIGN, WHEN ACTIVATED, REDUCES ENGINE PERFORMANCE WHICH COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS (DUE TO INSUFFICIENT ACCELERATION, ETC.). I HAD THE RECENT ENGINE SOFTWARE UPDATE PER HYUNDAI'S 953 CAMPAIGN. ON 3/22/19, I EXITED A HIGHWAY AND SLOWED DOWN PRIOR TO MERGING ONTO THE NEXT ROAD. I NEEDED TO ACCELERATE, HOWEVER MY ENGINE BOGGED AND HESITATED SIGNIFICANTLY. AS SUCH, ANOTHER CAR QUICKLY APPROACHING HAD TO BREAK HEAVILY TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH MY CAR. I LOOKED DOWN AND OBSERVED MY ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO ACTION HYUNDAI (MILLVILLE, NJ), AND THEY STATED THAT THE NEWLY INSTALLED SOFTWARE HAD DETECTED ISSUES WITH MY ENGINE AND AUTOMATICALLY PLACED MY ENGINE IN THIS LOW-POWER MODE. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT I WILL BE RECEIVING A WARRANTY ENGINE REPLACEMENT.

I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON A CITY STREET. WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE MY ENGINE TURNED OFF & WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. MY CAR WAS NOT RECALLED, BUT IT WAS UNDER A SAFETY CAMPAIGN. I DIDN'T RECEIVE NOTICE OF THE CAMPAIGN UNTIL AFTER MY ENGINE STOPPED. HYUNDAI ENDED UP REPLACING MY ENGINE. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO MOVE MY VEHICLE FROM THE ROAD WITH THE HELP OF SOME NEARBY DRIVERS AND NO ONE WAS INJURED.
WEDNESDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 27, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 7:40 PM, MY ENGINE LOST POWER AND QUIT RUNNING. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH EASTBOUND ON WA HIGHWAY SR500 TURNING IN A CURVE WHEN THE WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED AND THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. THANKFULLY IT WAS AT A TIME OF THE EVENING WHEN THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY, BUT IT WAS DARK, SO WHEN THE ENGINE QUIT, AND THE POWER STEERING QUIT, I WAS BARELY ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR SAFETLEY OFF THE FREEWAY. WHEN I HAD DETERMINED I WAS IN A SAFE POSITION, I TRIED STARTING THE CAR AGAIN UNSUCCESSFULLY. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER, SO I ASSUMED THE MOTOR WAS SEIZED UP.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, CODE READING OF P2565. WASTEGATE ACTUATOR. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM ON 2011-2014 HYUNDAIS WITH THE 2.0L TURBO THAT DEALERSHIPS EXCLUDE FROM ANY EXTENDED WARRANTIES. THE WASTEGATE ACTUATORS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH HYUNDAI.
TURBO GOES IN AND OUT IN COLD WEATHER. CAUSES ENGINE LIGHT AND ACCELERATION ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL DID NOT FILTER THROUGH THE ENGINE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,738.
I HAVE HAD MY ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY REPLACED WITHIN THE LAST MONTH AND MY CAR IS CUTTING OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING IT. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD COME ON THE RADIO POWERS OFF AND THE WHEEL STARTS JERKING BACK AND FORTH AND IT CUTS OFF OR BEGINS TO CUT OFF AND CORRECTS ITSELF. I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY DURING THESE INCIDENTS AND THE CAR WAS EITHER TURNING OR PULLING OFF. ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY IT CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION.
MOTOR BEGAN TO FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY. PULLED OVER. 'HYBRID DRIVE FAILURE. PLACE IN PARK AND DO NOT DRIVE.' THE WARNING SHOULD ALSO HAVE ADDED 'CALL A WRECKER.' DEALER SAYS HYUNDAI IS LOOKING AT PICTURES. CAR WAS SERVICED TWICE AND OIL CHANGED REGULARLY. WAITING TO SEE WHAT HYUNDAI SAYS.

CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ENGINE LOCK
CAR IN DEALERSHIP FOR SECOND TIME DUE TO ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING (SECOND TIME IN SHOP FOR ENGINE RECALL). MY CONCERNS ARE THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE WITH MY FAMILY, MY HOME AND MY COMMUNITY. THESE CARS ARE CATCHING ON FIRE THROUGHOUT OUR COUNTRY AND THERE IS NO PRICE ON A LIFE.
WHEN ACCELERATING PAST 3500 RPMS THERE IS A CLANGING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND YOU CAN'T ACCELERATE ANYMORE. THERE HAS BEEN AT TIMES A LARGE PLUME OF WHITE THICK SMOKE COMING FROM THE TAIL PIPE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE.
MY VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 84000 MILES, HAS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. RECENTLY UPON ACCELERATION, WHITE SMOKE EXPELS FROM THE EXHAUST. THE ENGINE RUNS HOT AND BURNS OIL AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE.
