Child Safety Lock Failure. When activating the child safety lock, it continously lock and unlocks, making a clicking noise. The lock is ultimately disengaged after which an error notification is displayed: Child Safety Lock Failure. It's been going on for at least 6 mo the now.

Leaking coolant: I have noticed that the coolant tank is empty a couple of days before and took it to the dealership and filled that. In 24hrs I saw the level went from full to lower level (so there is certainly leak happening. However, the dealership in not able to identify leak after 7-8 hrs testing. What is wrong with hyundai palisade 2021? I am not sure if it is safe to drive.

The engine has been intermittently cutting off every day. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times, and they say they cannot recreate the issue, so there is absolutely nothing that they can do. The vehicle will shake a little bit and then turn off.

The tachometer on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed at 70,000 miles. The tachometer sometimes displays RPM at 0 and other times at 9000 during normal driving. The engine speed appears normal regardless of what the tachometer displays. The dealer diagnosed the problem requiring the cluster assy-instrument (part number 94001-S8640) to be replaced. I'm not sure if other information displayed on this screen is accurate or working properly. The vehicle is within the 5 year warranty but outside the 60,000 mile warranty. The dealer quoted $926.75 for the part and $290 additional for labor.

Opened the sunroof and a loud popping sound followed by complete sunroof failure and a loud flapping sound from sunroof which appears to be from the sunroof wind deflector that is not attached I tried to take photos of this too, I pulled over and the sunroof has completely come off the runners on one side leaving it not flush to the roof, it was scary for myself and my child in the car, I did some research and found a technical service bulletin which I was not aware of even though I regularly maintain my vehicle at the dealership. I took it down the dealership who charged me $179 to tell me it was broken and put some plastic wrap on and told me as I’m 200 miles out of warranty that repairs are $3000, I have been in touch with Hyundai USA who don’t seem to care about...

The electronic child safety lock system that is controlled with the door panel has been consistently failing since about 6 months after i got my vehicle. It tries to the lock the doors repeatedly until the system fails and tells me "child safety lock failure" on the display. I have had it in the service department on four separate occasions where they have not been able to pinpoint the issue. They have replaced the door actuators in the rear doors as well as some of the fuses and wiring, but I have not gotten a resolution from any of the actions. It appears that there is some connection to my key fob because when I'm approaching the vehicle I can hear the locks start to engage. My concern is that once the system fails, the child safety locks are no longer engaged, which means my children can open the doors.

Sun roof snaps cheap plastic parts. They produced a tbs for it yet expect people to pay over 4k in repairs for a common issue which is a major safety issue. (TSB) 23-BD-003H Occurred 3 months after buying it certified

Child Safety Lock Failure: This message displays on instrument panel upon immediate startup of vehicle and randomly after the child safety lock clicks on and off continuously. Child safety lock is stalled in a continuous lock and unlock clicking mode. This has happened while drving and after the car is in park and I am taking a child out of the car. After depressing child safety lock button on driver's door panel, the sound stops.

This issue is concerning the sunroof. Hyundai released a TSB on the sunroof wind deflectors but not yet a recall even though so many people have been impacted by it. The TSB states: “ On certain Palisade (LX2) vehicles, the sunroof wind deflector may malfunction and cause damage to the sunroof mechanism. The sunroof may be inoperable and become stuck in the open, partially open, or closed position.” Mine became inoperable and would not close which could cause safety issues with wind noise, rain coming into the car and other debris

UNKNOWN - On Sunday, June 1 2025, whilst driving West Bound on the 408 tollway in Orlando, FL, the sunroof of my car exploded and shattered. I was driving with the sunroof and sunshade closed. I was driving approx 70 miles an hour when I head an explosion, then heard glass spidering and then the glass bits falling on to the sunshade and also traveling down the roof of the car. I pulled over as quickly as I could. Looked at the back of the car I wanted to make sure nothing else happened to my car. When I climbed to look on top of my car, the sunroof had shattered. I took a small video. I immediately exited the freeway, and took side streets home. The entire way, I could hear glass bits dislodging and either hitting the sunshade or traveling off the roof. On the 408, there were...

In January 2025, during snowy weather, the windshield wipers on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade failed mid-operation and began making a buzzing noise. After 3–4 uses, they locked up and stopped functioning, causing a serious visibility issue. This occurred while driving, putting my safety at risk. This symptom directly matches NHTSA Recall 23V-180 / Hyundai Campaign 243, which I was told had already been addressed by the dealership I purchased from (Fitzgerald Hyundai in Gaithersburg, MD). I bought the vehicle used in April 2023, around the time this recall was active. I brought the vehicle back to that dealership in May 2025. They confirmed the wiper motors appeared to be binding and recommended replacement. However, they claimed the issue was not related to the recall and charged me a diagnostic fee of $209. Their service summary matches the defect described in the recall. I believe the recall fix was either never...

I was unable to use my seatbelt because the end that accepts the strap, would not allow the seatbelt to click in to the device. I had to drive without a seatbelt several miles. I tried probably 20 times to get it to click in before giving up. My husband was able to somehow reset the mechanism, and it appears to be working fine at the moment. but I fear I could get either locked in or out of the seatbelt in the future. There was no warning the seatbelt was having an issue prior to this event. Also, it appears my model, the 2021 Hyundai Calligraphy is not included in the service bulletin campaign with the issue of a knock in the rear end (my noise is coming from the right rear area of the vehicle. Most likely the rear shock absorber, upper insulator. I'm not sure of the...

Update to complaint #11631235 At time of original complaint submission, I was unable to figure out how to share the video documentation of the vehicle speedomoter defect. Having since figured it out, I want to share this evidence with the NHTSA

I have a Hyundai Palisade complaint. NHTSA ID Number: 11613395. I was trying to add additional information. The car stopped working again. It stops at intersections and won't start up. This time it wouldn't start at all. Had to be towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership. Since June this car has been at the Hyundai Service center. The following parts have been replace. Transmission Front Axle Bearing Kit 3 ignition coils 5 spark plugs This time they are saying the reason the car stops and won't start is the "starter" needs to be replaced. Out of 6 months, this car has been at the service center for 3 months and multiple visits to the servcie center and three major repairs for the same issue. I want to know if others a having the same issues.

Upon opening the sunroof, two metal pieces flew off while driving and now the sunroof will not shut. The metal that flew off could’ve hit a car behind me. The car is available for inspection, Upon request. Online and saw other people with similar stories and issues With the Palisade. I then called the dealer/repair shop and scheduled for repair roughly a week and a half out which was the earliest I could get it in. There were no alerts or warnings or any lights telling me there was an issue with this particular device.

The sunroof on the vehicle has completely broken with minimal use the vehicle is a 2021 and only one owner. This is an ongoing issue with the vehicle type and Hyundai is not covering the cost of repair. It is causing a significant hardship for vehicle use and the cost or repair is in the thousands. I am not the only vehicle owner that is having this issue and Hyundai needs to take accountability for this.

The hatch struts prevent the hatch door to close due to the broken plastic surrounding the struts. Both struts were replaced a year after the vehicle was purchased brand new and then a year later another broke and now they are broken again and in less than a year they are showing sign of hair line cracks, which will eventually causes the hatch door to get stuck sand it will not shut. Not only it’s a safety problem but also a very expensive piece of struts. For both to be replaced it will cost $2500-3000. This is a defect designed with cheap plastic. Please issue a recall immediately.

While driving at 65mph on interstate under mild weather conditions the front sunroof spontaneously exploded. There was an extreme loud pop sound followed by glass flying down the roof line and into the fortunately closed sun shade. There was no external impact to cause this and the sunroof mechanism was not being used. After pulling over for inspection a volleyball size hole was seen in front sunroof and the remaining pieces of fractured glass was bowed up suggesting the glass blew up and not down. Safety concerns from the loud pop sound startling driver and potential for glass to rain over driver and occupants if the sunshade is open. The dealer refused to look at the issue and suggested body shop for repair. There were no warning signs and not a driver related issue. There continue to be many incidents being reported here and I'm guessing countless that aren't. There...

The passenger side rear view mirror stop auto tilting when in reverse, even with the switch in left or right position. I also cannot manually adjust said mirror up or down, only left and right. At one point said mirror tilted downwards when reverse selected and never came back up. At first the issue seem intermittent, but now it doesn’t work at all.

Child safety lock, making a clicking sound while engaged. When the lock is disengaged, the sound goes away. This sounds like a safety concern when you are trying to put on the child log for safety of your child.

Our car was parked in our garage overnight. In the morning, I went to get in the car and found that the sunroof had shattered. There was no evidence that anything had fallen on it or hit it; it was just simply shattered. There had been no previous damage to the vehicle. We attempted to call the 2 local Hyundai dealerships, but either did not receive a call back or they stated that they could not review our car for at least 2-3 weeks to see if this was a defect.

I’m having trouble with getting insurance protection on my 2021 Hyundai Palisade. It appears that the SUV is easy to seal. State Farm and Travelers insurance company will not write a policy on a Hyundai vehicle.

My locks start making a clicking noise randomly, sometime when vehicle is off some times when it is going down the road. It makes a series of clicks, sounds like doors are locking and unlocking, then I get a warning that pops up on dash that says child safety lock failure. When I took it to the dealership they could not get any failure codes when they hooked up computer.

When turning slowly or going over bumps at a lower speed, a thud or pop can be heard from the rear, which could be the shocks or struts in the rear. On a luxury vehicle, with this low of miles, these shouldn't need replacement so quickly. No warning lights or messages.

Child safety lock failure. It is constantly unlocking and locking randomly when the car is parked or driving.

On 7/23 my family experience a very horrific event. While traveling on a road at approximately 35 mph our rear passenger window exploded. The explosion was unexpected and dangerously unsafe. There was debri of broken glass all over our bodies , hair, clothing and inside our vehicle. Luckily our family was not injured. Since then our family has really questioned the safety of your vehicles after learning that this type of event is happening to other hyundai palisade owners. I created a case and have not heard back from anyone nor any dealership cannot provide assistance in my area. My kids and family are afraid to get into a vehicle we thought was safe but apparently is not. I need someone to call me and I need to stop being transferred over and over to different customer service reps and need hyundai to take responsibility for our loss family time,...

The sunroof exploded and shattered while driving on the highway. It was very loud and startling and could have caused us to get in a wreck as it sounded like a gun went off. Also, we then had to drive with a hand on the sunroof cover so the glass wouldn't come into the car as it was very windy and it was unclear if the cover would stay shut. There were no warnings whatsoever. It is at the dealership now and has been confirmed.

Component: child safety lock system Risk: we have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. We bought the SUV as a family vehicle. If the child safety lock system does not work out children would be able to open their doors while traveling at highway speeds. Problem reproduced: the dealership replaced a part the first time we took it in for the issue. The issue persisted. We brought it back when the issue happened again and the dealership said they couldn't reproduce the issue. It happens randomly. I have a video I made showing the issue happening several times in a row and provided the video to the service department. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to drop the car off again for them to diagnose. Inspected: not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance rep or others. Symptoms: you can hear the child lock system trying to physically...

Driving down I-5 and heard an extremely loud explosion above driver and passenger seats. Upon inspection at home, the sunroof has shattered with a hole directly in the middle of the unit. No debris or vehicles were in front of the vehicle during the incident.

While driving our Palisade on the freeway, the sunroof exploded without warning. Fortunately, the sunroof was closed and we had the internal compartment closed and no one was behind us on the freeway. So the glass did not enter the vehicle or hit another vehicle. But if the indoor compartment was open then glass would have entered into the vehicle and striking individuals in the car. The shattered glass did do damage to the top of our car (i.e. scratches deep enough to take off the paint completely). Based on online forums, and one law firm’s (based in Connecticut) website, this is a known problem with the Hyundai Palisade. It also appears that the NHTSA is investigating the Kia Sorento for this same problem. Thus, the problem has been replicated in other vehicles and Kia/Hyundai are aware of the problem. Our vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone (we...

Driving down the highway at 70 mph, no other vehicles around, we heard exploding glass shatter above us. The sunroof cover was closed, so no glass in the cabin. There was nothing around us nor anything flying in the air that could have hit the sunroof. We stopped as soon as we could safely to look at it and the sunroof glass was shattered in the middle. I had to use Gorilla tape to cover the glass so we could drive the last 2 hours home. My wife had to hold the cover closed for fear it would open and glass fly in to the cabin. Our safety was at risk as the glass could have fallen in. and cut us or flown in our eyes as we were traveling at highway speed. We have an insurance claim, we have contacted Hyundai with photos, and no response from Hyundai at...

I started my car using my key fob so the car wouldn’t be as hot when my baby and I got in. I walked to the back passenger side, unlocked the car and put my baby into the car. I then walked around to the driver’s side door and somehow the car was locked even though I had just unlocked it. I had my keys in my hand so I pressed the unlock button. My car would not unlock. I tried all of the doors and tried to lock and unlock my vehicle multiple times. I was about to break a window since my 7 month old was locked inside when I realized maybe the trunk would open. It did and I had to climb through my trunk to get into my vehicle to unlock it. This is exceptionally dangerous as I live in a very hot climate and a...

The car randomly stopped in the middle of not where, like a stop sign, high way, and anywhere while driving it. Very unsafe… the car ask you to put the car on neutral or parking then the car does not want to start. After 15 min you can start the car with Neutral button. Not solution has been make by Hyundai. They have a lot of the same issue, and Hyundai does not know what to do next

While driving my car the sunroof randomly shattered. It sounded like it had exploded. The shade was closed so I was protected from the glass. There were no other cars around or hazards overhead. It was 100F outside and the AC was running in the car. Other owners of this model are seeing similar issues. https://www.palisadeforum.com/threads/sunroof-shattered.900/

Windshield cracks easily it's a problem with this vehicle
#11455404 |
This is health concern and I have felt that my bronchial tubes are getting hot and eyes/throat/nose pain after 15 minute driving, then the pain keeps going on for while even after driving. I suspect toxic degassing from seats or interior materials in vehicle, or comes from engine room. This degassing might have been gradually decreased since purchasing this Palisade in April, 2021, however, I am still suffering from respiratory pain when I drive this vehicle. Hyundai Service Center inspected this Palisade and they told me toxic gas comes from headrests, and offered me to replace headrests. They said a thousands of people complained about this issue already. However, I don't think the toxic gas is from only headrest, but also from the others. They cleaned the headrests, but nothing changed. I conducted inspections personally as follows. 1. Tested indoor air quality in the vehicle by using a sensor from...

Another windshield complaint - we got a mosquito size chip in the windshield right after we bought it. It has not spread. However now all of a sudden under no known rocks hitting it - the lower passenger side now has a crack that has spread across the windshield. We have never had this issue with past vehicles. Hoping the replacement isn't the same. I do think the glass has some compromise in it and after reading the issues others have had am convinced.
#11446997 |
After having my 2021 Palisade with only 3,000 miles, a small crack formed on the base of the wind shield. This crack quickly spread across the the bottom of the windshield in less than a months time. The glass appears to be fragile and thin. I can even feel the glassed raised when rubbing the crack, which seems to be more unsafe than a normal glass crack. The issue was reported to the dealer but they were not able to schedule to replace for several months. The dealer did not cover the windshield even on a new vehicle. The windshield was inspected by insurance. Total replacement is $1600 because of calibration.

From driver: "While traveling westbound on John Lynch St, I approached the left turn lane heading southbound on Valley St. I engaged the brakes and began navigating the left turn at approx. 30 MPH. While turning, the vehicle's "Lane Assist" engaged preventing me from completing the turn. Halfway into the turn, the vehicle continued westbound, hopped the curb, and collided with a stationary road sign that was not in use. I continued through the intersection and pulled off the roadway." Follow-on questions: 1) How fast was the customer traveling when they were actively turning? A. 30 MPH, which I am assuming was the approach speed. To the best of the vehicle operator's recollection, the approach speed was appropriately 40-45 MPH, with an active turn speed of 30 MPH. 2) What was the recent usage of the vehicle before the incident? Was it used that day? How long had the vehicle...

Front Windshield cracked on the top right corner. The car has been sitting in my driveway since purchased in January 2021 with only 3250 miles so far. I contract Hyundai and they asked to take it to the dealership however nothing was done to fix it since the crack was larger than six inches. I was given a quote to replace a windshield for nearly $1500. Windshield cracking is an issue with Palisade as there are many people reporting the same issues where the Palisade windshield has cracked even from a small chip. It seems all of the people complaining on the internet are complaining about the same location being cracked on the windshield and then spreading. something needs to be done to fix it.

My grandson {3 year old) went from back seat to front seat while the subject vehicle was parked in the driveway. Barely hit the front windshield (no whimper not even a bruise). The windshield spiderwebbed in a huge pattern on the right side. Hyundai Palisades has several lawsuits pending this windshield substandard spiderwebbing due to soft blows! Hyundai says they have no replacement windshields available? This presents a very dangerous situation as we two grandchildren in this vehicle. Forget about insurance deductibles we need this windshield replaced ASAP! Can you help? Thank you Grandpa Nick Antonecchia

Oxygen depleting Lighter Than Air TOXIC gasses within the vehicle causing anoxia among inhabitants. This problem has been noted consistently on Hyundai web sites with no response. This problem becomes more dangerous with weather conditions and closed environment within the vehicle. It is not just the Smell, but the Oxygen Depleting gasses emitted by whatever is causing the occurrence. Most own ers complain about the Smell, but the smell is directly related to the Intoxicating & probably deadly carcinogenic funes. Thank you for your time.
