2014 HYUNDAI ACCENT Steering Problems

For reasons unknown I was at a stoplight. The car started shaking, and the check engine light started blinking, and then the light went off. Also, the steering wheel locks up at times and I’m unable to to move the steering wheel because it’s locked.

On several occasions have hit Mt brakes and it felt like they wasn't engaging it felt as if they wasn't going to stop once I released my foot and pressed the break again and it engaged ,this was a scarey situation fear of the car not stopping, I belive this is a part of the recall

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that while driving at 25 MPH, the steering wheel had become stiff. The contact attempted to make a turn and the vehicle continued straight and crashed into a ditch. The contact mentioned that she lost control of the vehicle during the incident. The air bags did not deploy. No warning light was illuminated. A police report was not filled. The vehicle was towed to a lot. The driver was injured in the back and neck. The contact received a pain shot for her pains, prescribed ibuprofen, and received a x-ray. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to reach out to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

IT APPEARS THE RACKENPENION HAS GONE OUT AND IS UNABLE TO STEER PROPERLY. ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL CONTINUES TO COME ON CAUSING THE TIRES UNABLE TO GRIP THE ROAD PROPERLY AND THE GAS PETAL TO SHUT OFF.

TAKATA RECALL WHILE DRIVING THE CAR I WOULD NOTICE THAT THE STREERING WHEEL WOULD SWAY TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT INSTEAD OF BEING FIRMLY IT SEEMED AS IF IT WAS NOT STABLE ENOUGH. I WENT TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BUT, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IN NOVEMBER 2016 THERE WAS A CRASH FROM A DUI INDIVIDUAL AND THE CAR WAS TOTALED. FOR THE LEVEL OF IMPACT; ALL THE AIRBAGS ON THE LEFT SIDE SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. BUT, THEY DIDN'T. I DID FILE A COMPLAIN WITH THE CAR MANUFACTURER BUT, THEY SAID SINCE THE INITIAL IMPACT WAS NOT VELOCITY TO DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS, THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN 2015 WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AND IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS THE POWER STEERING STARTED MALFUNCTIONING REGULARLY. WARNING LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND THEN THE NEXT TIME I'D START THE CAR IT'D BE OKAY. THEN THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN 3 DAYS LATER, OVER AND OVER AGAIN. TERRIBLE.

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN FEB 2014, SINCE THAT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) INDICATOR HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE ESC IS ON, THE OTHER INDICATORS AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT, ABS, PARKING BRAKE & BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE TELLTALE AND ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) INDICATOR WILL ALSO TAKE TURNS TO COME ON FOR A WHILE AND THEN OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN BACK ON AGAIN. AFTER I RESTART, ESC LIGHT WILL STAY ON AND THE OTHER LIGHTS TAKE TURNS TO ON AND OFF. THIS WILL LAST SEVERAL DAYS AND THEN BACK TO NORMAL. THE WORST THING HAPPENED ON JUNE, 2015, AFTER THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ON AND OFF THE DAY BEFORE, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WAS LOST WHEN I STARTED MY CAR.
