2017 HONDA RIDGELINE Forward Collision Avoidance Automatic Emergency Braking Problems

The collision mitigation Braking System has activated my brakes resulting in a lock up 3 times and I've only owned the truck for 2 months. One of the times I was rear ended do to the trucking stopping suddenly. I now have to drive with the system turned off because of how dangerous it is to have on.

At approximately 20mph, Forward collision warning appeared as car in front braked quickly but continued forward after the quick brake. After I braked to slow down, I began to accelerate as the vehicle in front continued forward. As soon as I hit the accelerator, the Automatic Emergency Braking kicked in and locked up the brakes - even though the car in front of me was 20-30+ feet away. Car behind me had to slam on their brakes as it appeared that I braked without any reason

When accelerating the engine bogs down and runs rough. All warning lights come on. After shutting off the engine and restarting everything appears to run normally however the warning lights stay on the cruise control does not work. After a couple of days the warning lights went off and everything worked as normal. The same problem manifested again while accelerating. The first incident happened Aug. 26, 2023, the second incident happened on Sept. 3, 2023.

Occasional (several times a month) phantom breaking on two lane roads, particularly when opposing traffic is approaching along a concave (i.e., inward) curve or when opposing traffic is transitioning from a widened road section back to a single lane.

Issues with overall dash system. If truck is locked and off the truck will continuously attempt to start and will set the alarm off. Have been unable to leave the truck locked for a year now due to this issue. This has also transitioned into most of the safety features no longer working.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle experienced phantom braking with an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The automatic emergency braking system is consistently fooled on right hand turns. It "sees" the car approaching as being "in my lane" and alerts "BRAKE" and vibrates the steering wheel. I believe this is because the system is unable to detect the curve in the two lane road approaching and no steering input has been applied (as the vehicle is not in the corner yet)

The alarm system goes off at random times throughout the day, headlights stay on after the alarm activates, interior dash warning lights flicker and voltage fluctuates with sound. Happens if Key Fob is in my pocket or not. Events started in Oct 2019 and continued until Sep2020, when I unplugged the hood alarm activation switch. This disabled the alarm from going off at random times but didn't stop the dash warning lights from flickering and voltage fluctuating sounds. As of OCT 2021, now a slew of dash warning lights from "trailer assist, uphill assistant, lane assistant" plus many more have taken over my dash. At random times the brake assist will activate and cause my truck to temporarily lock up, then go back to normal. It appears to happen to be worse after heavy rains.
