2018 HONDA ODYSSEY Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Driving vehicle on the road, the suite of driver assistance system suddenly failed including LKAS, front collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure as well as brake system light. I took the car to the dealership which indicated the front camera had catastrophically failed. This issue seems to be a recurring issue in all models of odyssey minivans. The issue is well documented in online forums. It should be a safety recall from Honda compared to other recalls on same vehicle. Dealer quoted me $2000 to fix this! HONDA - fix this and issue a recall before there is a lawsuit and someone gets hurt

Multiple dash lights warnings (LKAS, forward collision, lane departure, etc.) came up. Brought it to the dealership and was told that this is an electrical camera issue that is overheating, and there is no preventative or ways to keep it from happening. It would cost an upward of $2000 to fix it. This should be part of the recall since it seems like it’s happened quite frequently with the other Honda Odyssey.

Lane keep assist, road mitigation, auto hi beam, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, road departure all errors and no longer work. New windshield wuth calibration august 2024, new battery 10/28/24. Issue started 10/25/24. A little over 90,000 miles on vehicle. Started vehicle in parking lot and all warnings came on. After new battery, warnings cine on and off at random.

When I turned on the ignition to drive the vehicle, multiple warning lights came on to include failure of Lane Keeping Assistance, Forward Collision Avoidance, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Additionally, after acknowledging these lights, the "Brake System" light remained on in the Amber color. If these safety features are not working properly, it can put the occupants of my vehicle as well as others at risk. We took the vehicle to the Honda Dealer. They ran the diagnostics and stated that the fault was "Internal Electronic Failure of Multipurpose Camera Unit/Internal Failure of Multipurpose Camera". We had to replace the Multipurpose Camera and have the new one re-calibrated.

Upon inspection from Honda dealership, internal failure of multipurpose camera

Multipurpose camera failure. Warnings appeared upon failure after being parked in the shade on a moderately warm day ~80 degrees. Warnings with chimes reappear after being cleared, causing distraction while driving. Safety systems are inoperable without expensive camera replacement. Systems disabled as a result include Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam system.

All of our sensor controlled equipment is not working. LKAS, ACC, Forward collision, auto brights, etc.

Diagnostic is U3000-49: "Multipurpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure. Multipurpose camera internal failure. Camera is overheating and hot to the touch." Honda is saying this is separate from the recall already issued on the camera and will be a $2K repair. Multiple other owners of other 2018 Honda Odysseys reporting same failure. Van running fine, then all of a sudden warning panel lit up with the following warning messages: Adaptive Cruise Control problem Lane Keeping Assist problem Collision Mitigation System Problem Road Departure Mitigations System problem Auto High-Beam Problem Local reputable auto repair shop said it is not safe to drive due to the extremely high temperature of the camera unit.

Forward collision warning comes up on vehicle. There is a problem with the transmission. the car automatically shifts itself from D to S.

Windshield monocular camera seems to be failing. No way to stop the warnings from popping up everytime I crank my car, can’t even use cruise control. I paid extra for these features and it seems to be a safety issue.

My vehicle started to show warning: Collision MitigationSystem Problem/ Road Departure Mitigation System Problem/ Adaptive Cruise Control Problem / Lane Keeping Assist Problem/ Auto High-Beam Problem. I took it back to Honda dealership and was told the Multipurpose Camera is damaged and needed to be changed. They asked if I have a vehicle accident and I told them I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ONE. I don’t understand why this just starts up all of a sudden and have seen other people complaining of this same problem.

collision mitigation system activates when over 45 mph and there is a car next to you at about a 2 o clock angle from the van. Also activates if collision mitigation system is disabled and you are using the cruise function. Front camera is clear and it's a big safety problem than can easily end in a rear end accident

There are mutiple errors shown and the features disabled. Looks like the front camera is defective and is being reported by many people

the van has been giving me issues with stalling jerking losing power while driving when i found there was a recall honda told me i had to wait til srptember i dont have til september this is my only vehicle gid i hope it does not fail me or my kids

- Monocular Camera failure. It is available for inspection upon request. - Multiple Dash warning lights are on and several safety features, including forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking fail to work. Dealer states that the monocular camera cannot be disabled because it is a safety feature. - The problem has been confirmed by a dealer. The dealer stated the problem was not caused by consumer usage or accident, but was an internal failure of the monocular camera. - No additional inspections have been performed. -There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, which first appeared in April 2024 at ~104,000 miles on the vehicle.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) We have not taken it into Honda yet as it's out of warranty and the fix is replacing/reaiming the Carmera that is located near the rear view mirror. The car has been scanned with a scan tool and it comes up with errors regarding the front camera MCU. Upon inspection the front camera is extremely hot to the touch. The errors sometimes stay on for weeks & may go off for a minute or two then come right back. Without this functioning properly the above car features (which can be safety releated) do not work & does effect the safetly of passengers in the car. It is available for inspection as it's very easy to get to.

The forward warning system will say brake without anyone or anything in front of you. It will then slam on the brakes. This is very dangerous and has almost resulted in multiple collisions. We have took it to the dealership numerous times and it has not been fixed. I have called American Honda and they will not fix the issue. I get the run around that it is outside of warranty. It was took to them under warranty but was never fixed. The local Honda dealer wants to just try swapping out cameras at a price of $2,500. They do not know if it will even fix it. Now the system has numerous warning lights related to the adaptive cruise, lane keep assistance, forward warning system and lane departure warning. All warning lights related to the Honda Sensing driver assist features come on and the assist features are inoperative. Vehicle still drives fine but even normal cruise control is no longer an option. Some warning notifications pop back up while driving even after dismissed which is rather distracting.

ADAS system is not working due to internal camera failure.

Multiple error lights come on at various times, including but not limited to road departure mitigation warning, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problems, brake hold system problem, power steering system problem. Upon first dealer inspection no problem was identified. On follow up after ongoing recurrence of the issue, dealer found multi purpose camera internal fault along with recalled fuel injector repair requirement. Estimated 2,000 to fix MP camera.

The camera on the Honda van seems to act up when either its hot outside or cold outside. Due to this, the car will show these codes, (LKAS, ACC, Collision Avoidance, Auto High Beam Problem). Due to the camera having these isues, the collision avoidance puts myself and family at risk.

All of the advanced driver assistance systems have failed: adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance. Additionally, there is a brake failure fault. The Honda dealership said that the plastic cover over the radar is prone to fogging and that we should clean it. We tried that and it did not work. Still get all of the faults and warnings.

The battery in our van weakened and needed to be replaced. Upon replacement with brand new battery, a ton of new warnings began. These included problems with: Adaptive cruise control; lane assist; collision avoidance; auto high beam, and maybe another. Doing some research online, I found that many other Odyssey owners experienced similar issues associated with battery replacement. Local Honda dealer told me the MOST recall repair may take care of it. It did not. Was told the internal front multipurpose camera just happened to coincidentally go out at the same time as the battery. Honda wants $1500 to replace the camera. Honda USA declined to help. In the meantime, our vehicle has none of the safety features available; and regular cruise control is not an option if the camera is not replaced. I believe Honda knows this is an issue and should be help responsible for replacing defective cameras.

Our 2018 Honda Odyssey has a little over 33,000 miles on it; and out of nowhere several warning light came on, such as Adaptive Cruise Control problem, Lane Keeping Assisst Problem, Collision Mitigation system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem. Scheduled an appointment with Honda Service, however they refuse to event take a look at it, and cancel my appointment half an hour prior to appointment time.

Front windshield camera failure (confirmed by local Honda dealership). No known cause and no prior warnings/messages. All warning messages popped up suddenly after the car was parked for the workday. The following functions were disabled by this failure: automatic emergency breaking, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, cruise control, etc. Part to replace is "on national backorder with no known ETA"

Appears the front radar system fails causing all safety features that rely on data from that radar to also fail, causing a high potential for safety related incident due to reliance on these safety features.

When idle stop is activated, car will often stall on attempt to restart. Car can then not be started for 5-10 seconds. If the car does not stall, it will often hesitate 2-3 seconds before the engine restarts, leading to multiple near-miss accidents on turns. Electrical warnings will often flash after idle stop, such as "sliding door problem," "collision mitigation malfuction," "anti-theft system malfunction," etc. Battery has been replaced twice with no other remedy offered while in or out of warranty.

Started up the van one afternoon a couple months back and a bunch of warning lights came on. ACC failure, auto high beam failure, collision mitigation system failure, lane keep assist failure. These warnings come on every time and these safety features do not work. Dealership diagnoses front camera failure.

The automatic emergency braking system (AEB) the Collision Mitigation Braking System or “CMBS.” Ingaged and Stopped the van four (4) times when there where no obsticals in front of the van. Twice this happend while making left turns in four-way intersection.

On Monday, March 27th While driving at various speeds, the collision mitigation system message flashed on the instrument panel without anything provoking it/no real cause. I observed while driving the vehicle, the warning message repeatedly flashed on the screen before the entire instrument panel went blank. This includes the infotainment system restarting as well, alternatively, I was driving going between 40-60mph and the all-dashboard notification lights started flickering (lane departure warning, odometer, blind spot warning, Collision Mitigation System etc.) it continues to happen randomly while driving at unpredictable times the wheel does lock up for a short time and the vehicle is temporarily not under driver control. The auto idle on my van has cause problems for over three years. I have reported this to our Honda dealership numerous times. The car dies when I am stopped and I try to take off. Everything in car shuts off - dashboard, A/C, radio, etc. When it does not all the way die when I try to go from a stop, all my collision mitigation warnings start flashing and a few times my car has braked itself. They have blamed it on my battery twice - once they replaced and the next time they made me pay for the battery. Then, they tried to blame it on the master computer switch because my door locks would just lock and unlock as I would drive down the road. Vehicle suddenly shifts to Nuetral when driving forward at approximately 30mph to 55mph. The Collision warning system and the Emergency Braking system then shows falt/inoperative on the information display. This is an extremely dangerous situation that causes the vehicle to suddenly lose forward power.

Both the dashboard and the computer shut down randomly, different warning signs pop up intermittently and the wheel locks up for a short time. It happens while driving at unpredictable times. It happened on the highway at the speed of 65 mph. and the vehicle is temporarily is not under driver’s control. Yes, I took the vehicle for repair 3 times. Yes, the certified car dealership had identified different issues but none of them had fixed the problem. No, not by insurance or the manufacturer. No, no warning signs prior. The automatic emergency braking system has failed multiple times. The vehicle is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others are put at risk when my vehicle executes unexpected emergency braking. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer on two different occasions. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives of other, except the Honda dealer. No other warning lamps, messages of other symptoms. Around Feb 1, 2019 the car started applying the brakes when crossing slightly raised railroad tracks. The braking action was hard enough to engage the antilock brake feature. On 2/11/19 the vehicle was taken to AutoWest Honda for warranty repairs at 22,853 miles. The millimeter radar was mis-aimed. This corrected the problem. See attached repair order. THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVEING. THE LIGHTS FOR POWER STEERING, BREAK PROBLEM, LANE KEEPING ASSISTANT SYSTEM AND LANE DEPARTURE MIGRATION LIGHTS ARE ALL ON IN THE DASHBOARD. THE POWER STEERING WAS HARD TO TURN.
