2018 HONDA ODYSSEY Back Over Prevention Warnings Problems

Suddenly one day in the morning taking my car from my garage, all alarms in my board turned on and stopped working: Automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, forward and collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance and rear cross traffic warning. I bring my car to the McLarty Honda service in Little Rock, AR. After calibration showed that I need a new multipurpose camera code U 3000-49. This is major concern for me. My van is in perfect shape, only 7 years old not so many miles. Doing some research sounds like this is an issue with Honda vehicles. My neighborhood is full of kids ( I have 3 kids too)with these large vehicles you can find a lot of blinds spots and these features help to keep everybody safe. I believe this a safety issue that need to be recalled in Honda's cars.

The windshield-mounted front camera assembly (part number 36160‑THR‑A81) that powers LKAS, ACC, Collision Mitigation, Auto High Beam, and other safety systems has failed on my 2018 Honda Odyssey. When the camera fails, multiple critical safety systems become disabled at once, posing a significant risk to driver and road safety." The Honda monocular camera is apparently causing malfunctions and or warning lights. This is impacting many Odyssey owners according to my research. This should be addressed by Honda and reimbursement or repair covered as a recall.

Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warnin, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assistance lights came on and won't go away. Sometime the car won't reverse when put in reverse.

All of my safety sensors no longer work. Warning lights for all sensors are on at all times.

Rear backup camera stopped working. Currently there is an active recall for 2018 Odysseys on all trim levels vin specific but somehow our vin number isn’t covered under the recall. I followed service bulletin 20-060 and it fixed the problem.

I started the vehicle and it displayed a message on the infotainment system screen that the system had lost power. I believed that this would only affect the radio functionality which I was not concerned about immediately. I placed the vehicle in reverse and I accidentally backed up into a parked car. At no point before the accident did I realize the rear camera did not work and the collision assistance sensors did not function. I believe if the collision avoidance system was working correctly my accident would have been prevented. I have come to depend on the safety features of this vehicle. I know that this is not an issue with my car battery as I recently had a Honda dealer install a new battery prior to this accident and the vehicle started normally.

Honda has a recall notice to repair the rear camera. We took the car in to get the recall service. The camera stopped working. Honda told us the diagnostic to determine what wasn't working on the camera would cost hundreds of dollars. This was recall service that disabled the camera. We should not be charged and they have messed up our car system.

Anytime the temperature is below freezing (32F), the infotainment system fails to boot. This prevents us from properly defrosting windows for visibility, or using the rear-view camera while backing, or accessing many of the other features of the vehicle that are controlled by the infotainment unit. The lack of a rear-view camera is especially concerning on a van with otherwise poor rearward visibility through mirrors. Many people have car seats in their mini-van which further obstructs rearward visibility without the camera. We have visited the dealer numerous times for a fix for this issue, and there either is none, or Honda's dealers arent interested in fixing it. Essentially, we are without most of the vehicles advanced features whenever it is cold outside.
