Timeline of Events: • Aug 25, 2025: Vehicle lost battery charge despite a new battery; AAA confirmed battery was good but required a jump. • Oct 29, 2025: Battery failed again; required another jump. • Nov 30, 2025: Battery dead once more; AAA again confirmed battery was good but not charging. After replacement, the car stalled mid-road, “D” light disappeared, and only restarting allowed me to move briefly. • Dec 1, 2025: Mechanic confirmed transmission fluid was fine. The contact owns a 2015 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that since owning the vehicle, the battery had been replaced four times. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while pressing the START/STOP button. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle occasionally shut off while accelerating, forcing the contact to have the vehicle jump-started. The contact replaced the battery; however, the failure returned approximately a year later. The contact called several dealers and was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system that caused the battery to continuously drain even while the vehicle was off. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

Instrument panel lights Check engine light, TPMS, VAS, EPS lights come on. Had the car serviced. Lights comes on after driving for the while they turn off. Occurred 5 times in the last month.

After using the button on the door handle to lock the door, the door unlocks on its own. The handle sensor stays activated until the battery drains.

Balise Honda provided a diagnostic result for the "good" battery, but determined that the Remote Start System that was installed by Boch Honda when I purchase the 2015 Honda CRV on [XXX] was the problem. Upon pushing start/stop button, CR-V won't start. It's at random times the issue happens. Battery was replaced in the last 6 months. 9/23. Still having issues. Replaced the actual start/stop push button in the cabin. Still having issues. After taking CR-V to Honda dealership, they were able to reproduce the issue and it was determined the starter needs replaced. This SUV has only 77k miles. If you would like more proof as to why this issue for the 2015 needs to have a recall, I would gladly guide you over to the Honda CR-V owner's club and provide numerous posts of people who have replaced their starter specifically in a 2015 with mileage under 80k. For the very first time I've noticed that my car won't start in a normal way. It was a couple of months ago. It was driving fine back then. Two weeks ago, not only my car won't start many lights came on including the engine service light. I took my car to Columbia Honda dealership; they only tested my battery and told me the battery was fine. So, they let me go. The contact owns a 2015 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the vehicle would randomly go into "Accessory Mode". During the failure, the vehicle could not be turned off or shifted into gear. The gear shifter was not functional, and the battery had to be disconnected to turn the vehicle off. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer on several occasions and the computer, battery, remote starter, and starter were replaced; however, the failures persisted. The starter button must be pressed multiple times to start the vehicle. Have had an attempted repaired twice and problem persists. I understand there is a recall for this problem in other countries.

We’ve noticed over the pass several weeks starting the engine issues. After fully turning the key to start, the vehicle wouldn’t engage. The dashboard lights up but the car do not start. At first it would start in the second attempt but recently it takes up to (3) attempts before it starts

Doors lock and unlock by themselves all the time

5/28/2023: Vehicle won’t start, AAA called and towed it to repair facility where they claimed they fixed the issue (battery replacement) 6/01/2023: Vehicle traveling WB SR520, where all dashboard warning lights started illuminating. At the same time, steering wheel locks up and infotainment screen shuts off. Was able to get vehicle off the freeway and onto the shoulder of a nearby exit ramp where it eventually died. Called AAA again and had it towed back to the repair facility once again, where this time, the alternator failed.

My vehicle has had multiple parasitic battery events where the battery has been completely drained overnight. I have replaced the battery six times since May of 2022. I took my vehicle to my auto repair shop and they checked every fuse in the vehicle and could not find the problem. The shop called the Honda Dealer service center to get advice on what the problem might be and the dealer was unable to provide any recommended solution. I suspect the problem has something to do with a faulty automatic door lock/unlock system. There is a current active class action lawsuit against Honda motors regarding the battery draining issue in Honda CRV'S. The case is in the United States District Court southern district of Iowa central division. Case # [XXX]. The lawsuit mentions Honda CRV'S dating back to 2017. My wife owns a 2015 Honda CRV that has the same exact battery draining issue. Her CRV was recalled in 2018 for a software update that was supposed to correct the issue but it didn't. Since 2018 my wife and I have had to replace the battery 3 times in 4 years. On November 16th, 2022 we replaced the battery with a new one and just 19 days later that brand new battery was dead. The power steering light intermittently comes on and nearly locks the steering wheel. This occurs without warning while driving. Turning the vehicle off and on sometimes resolves the issue. This occurs without warning and makes steering very difficult. My mechanic confirmed the vehicle is showing a code for the power steering system and said the only solution was to replace the electronic motor. The warning light does not come on until the steering wheel stiffens up. This has occurred many times at various speeds. There seems to be no pattern. Sometimes it does not happen for a week or two, other times it happens multiple times in a day.

Three times the vehicle would not start while at Walmart parking lot since over February 2020. I push the button to start and it wont start. The air condition/heater does not work since winter of 2021/2022. The electrical system has gone haywire twice. The lights on dashboard flash and the numbers roll all over since 2021. The door locks are not wanting to lock now for the past 12 months. while I was inside the car the door would not unlock The engine seems to stall for the past 8 months. Purchased a 2015 CRV EX in 2018. Recently I've started having an issue where on the first or second attempts to start the car with the push button start, the car doesn't crank but clicks and only goes to Accessory mode. Generally the car will finally start after pushing the button 3-6 times. There have been situations where I was almost stranded in inclement weather conditions and unsafe surroundings. There is an existing class action law suit against Honda for CRV's 2017-2019 for: Parasitic Draw Defect. CRV's built PRIOR to 2017 were not recognized and recalled. According to this Honda class action lawsuit, the problem with the starter motor may be a lack of adequate clearance between the two gears where the starter motor connects to the engine. I AM WRITING YOU BECAUSE I HAD TO HAVE THE STARTED REPLACED ON MY HONDA 2015 CR-V. THE VIN NUMBER IS: [XXX]; VA LICENSE [XXX]; MILEAGE 47,332. IT IS UNREASONABLE TO HAVE A VEHICLE OF THAT YEAR AND SUCH A LOW MILEAGE WITH STARTER PROBLEMS AND HAVING THE STARTED REPLACED. THE FINAL BILL FOR THE WORK CONDUCTED WAS $727.16, INCLUDING PARTS, LABOR AND TAXES. I SUSPECT THAT STARTER PROBLEMS ARE INHERITED FROM A POOR DESIGN WHERE THE STARTER IS EXPOSED TO EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE MANIFOLD. THEREFORE, ALL CR-VS' DESIGNED IN A SAME MANNER ARE RELEGATED TO THE SAME FLAW. CONSEQUENTLY, ALL OWNERS OF THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE ARE FORCED TO INCUR THE UNREASONABLE COST OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE STARTER AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. BATTERY DISCHARGES FREQUENTLY (CAR WILL NOT START) BEGINNING WHEN LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD, NEW BATTERY SAME PROBLEM. HAPPENS RANDOMLY. DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM (EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENED ONCE IN THEIR SHOP). NOT RELATED TO FREQUENT SHORT TRIPS (DEALER SUGGESTION) AS WE TRACKED OCCURRENCE WITH DIFFERENT TRIP LENGTHS WITH SAME UNPREDICTABLE RESULTS. KEEPING BATTERY ON CHARGER DAILY SEEMS TO HELP, BUT MUST BE DONE DAILY OR ELSE PROBLEM REOCCURS. PROBLEM HAPPENS AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING -- CAN BE AFTER SHORT STOP (SHOPPING) OR OVERNIGHT (IN GARAGE). CLEARLY THERE IS A DEFECT -- SHORT?; RELAY? HONDA CR-V NEEDS RANDOM JUMP STARTS DESPITE HAVING A NEW BATTERY. PROBLEM BEGAN LESS THAN A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. HEADLIGHTS DIM ON OCCASION AFTER INITIAL START AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED BY BATTERY ALONE INSTEAD OF ALTERNATOR. DEALERSHIP INITIALLY STATED THAT IT WAS THE BATTERY AND THEN SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I ASKED THE MECHANICS IF THE CAR'S COMPUTER DID SELF DIAGNOSTICS AFTER STOPPING THE ENGINE. THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T KNOW UNTIL TOWED AFTER EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER SHUTTING DOWN ENGINE. IT'S COMPLETELY RANDOM AND OCCURS ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. I CAN TELL THE NIGHT BEFORE IT NEEDS A JUMP WHEN THEY HONDA CR-V HESITATES BEFORE STARTING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA CR-V. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE BATTERY FAILED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. WEST COUNTY HONDA (15532 MANCHESTER RD, ELLISVILLE, MO 63011, (636) 391-6900) DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT FIND A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

MULTIPLE HONDA BATTERIES DIED ON THE SAME CAR. ORIGINAL BATTERY DIED WITHIN MONTHS OF PURCHASING BRAND NEW CAR. THE DEALER REPLACED THEN THE REPLACEMENT DID THE SAME THING. THEY REPLACED IT. NOW THE BATTERY IS DYING AGAIN. WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE FOR EVEN 20 MINUTES. WAKE UP IN THE MORNING. DEAD. JUMP IT. DEAD AT THE VERY NEXT STOP. THERE ARE MANY MANY MANY STORIES ON HONDA MESSAGE BOARDS ALL OVER THE INTERNET OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT THING. I'M A SINGLE WOMAN WHO HAS TO BE ON THE ROAD AT NIGHT. I COULD BE MURDERED IN A PARKING LOT TRYING TO JUMP START THE CAR WHEN IT DIES AFTER 10 - 20 MINUTES. HONDA KNOWS THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE AND THEY ARE DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT.

THE VEHICLE ALWAYS SEEMED TO HAVE ISSUES WHEN IDLING. AFTER 3 YEARS, IT TURNS OUT THAT THE ALTERNATOR HAD A BAD DIODE. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AFTER GETTING STUCK AND THEN FOLLOWED UP WITH A DIAGNOSTIC OF THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, THE ALTERNATOR WAS ONLY CHARGING THE BATTERY 84%. IN ADDITION, IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE BATTERIES USED BY HONDA AND SOME OTHER POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AS PER ONLINE BLOGS. TO BE HONEST, MY VEHICLE IS 38 MONTHS OLD AND HAS APPROX 51K MILES, MAKING IT OUT OF WARRANTY. IT WOULD ALSO BE FAIR TO SAY THAT AFTER HAVING WORK DONE AT THE DEALER THROUGH OUT THE YEARS THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE SHON UP OR BEEN ADDRESSED SOONER. IT IS ALSO OF MY OPINION THAT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

IF YOU PUT THE VEHICLE IN ACCESSORY MODE OR ON BATTERY WITHOUT TURNING THE ENGINE ON THE BATTERY WILL DIE.

I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING TWICE WITHIN AN 11 DAY PERIOD DUE TO RODENT DAMAGE ON THE WIRING (HARNESS) OF MY VEHICLE. 1ST TIME WAS ON 10/10/2017 AS I WAS BACKING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY THAT REQUIRES A COUPLE OF SHARP TURNS. ALMOST HIT A WALL. I MISSED 2 APPTS. AND HONDA CHARGED ME $320 FOR THE REPAIR. 2ND TIME I HAD JUST STARTED THE ENGINE AND THE SAME LSAK WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND AGAIN NO POWER STEERING.
