My Accord V6 suffered catastrophic engine failure due to a bent connecting rod/seized bearing while driving at highway speeds. This is the exact same failure described in Recall 23V-751 for other Honda V6 models.
I am reporting an ongoing issue with my 2016 Honda Accord Touring V6 caused by a misdiagnosis at Honda of the Avenues in Jacksonville, FL. In December 2024, they diagnosed my oil leak as a valve cover gasket issue and charged me for the repair, but the leak never stopped. I returned multiple times and was told “everything is fine,” even though oil was clearly visible. Because the real issue was never fixed, oil eventually dripped onto my alternator and caused it to fail while I was driving on the highway. My car stalled in traffic, creating a dangerous situation. I had to replace the alternator at Lucas Honda out of pocket. As of November 2025, the leak continues, and I discovered the true source is the top front solenoid, not the valve cover gasket they insisted on. This misdiagnosis, continued leak, I hear other people on facebook Honda Accord...
Valve cover leaking at 35000 miles. Gasket faulty.
Error code P0087
On several occasions, as I’ve traveled down the interstate, getting off of an exit the car engine completely shuts off and dies before coming to a complete stop
Knock sensor has been replaced twice in 4 years, the emissions engine states it needs to be changed again. This is causing reduced engine power and acceleration and other issues
Rattles during cold start.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost automotive power. The vehicle failed to accelerate with the check engine warning light was flashing off and on. After turning off and restarting the vehicle the check engine warning light was flashing and remained with the traction control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 80,000.
My 2016 Honda Accord has approximately 137,000 miles. I change the oil, filters, etc. at regular intervals. One night I noticed a ticking when going uphill. I thought it might be a belt.(no warning lights) The next day I had to go somewhere, and on my way back the ticking got noticeably worse and then the engine started screeching. Massive loss of power. Shortly after, a loud bang/thump noise and the car stopped running. I pulled into a school parking lot, got the car towed. Next day the mechanic where the car was towed said I threw a rod, and it went through the engine block and the oil pan; and my engine would have to be replaced. I have not (yet) replaced the engine (waiting for estimate). Spoke to Honda corporate (case #XXXX) to see if they could help me out (financially) with the replacement, because everyone I talked...
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 197,000.
My 2016 Honda Accord with 2.4 engine failed due to rod bearing failing at 100K mileage. Knocking from engine bay is what brought my attention to it and from there i brought it into mechanic. I change oil religiously at 5K intervals. I own 4 different accords and never seen this happen before.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle failed to start. Additionally, there was a loud static sound coming through the speaker while the radio was turned off. The contact was unable to hear any audible sounds the vehicle might have made. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the battery, battery cable, fuel pump, and engine needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed the contact that there was no warranty coverage for the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
ABS module is defective after 7 years, there have been many reports and very expensive to fix, why hasn’t Honda made this a recall?
The car had a problem where it will not start because the stater grinds. Honda knows about the problem and won’t do a recall instead they charged me to have the remove the engine. Install a new torque converter and starter. They said the factory had a bad batch of torque converters. And quite a few cars were affected by this problem. Seems ridicules that a problem they k ow about with a part quality is the problem of the consumer. It’s about $3400 for each person that has to deal with this. The way the starter stays engaged and just grinds it could easily cause a fire.
Engine harness, sensor and gasket needed to be replaced. FAULTY WIRING!!! Bulletin Honda initiated indicated to replace all parts. This is a defect on this vehicle that has been in a very dry climate and has been stored in a garage since purchase. The cost to repair was over $3,100. Honda knows about this issue and has has yet to recall the Accord Sedans for repair. I would like Honda to reimburse me for the cost to replace all parts and labor. This vehicle only has 59,576 miles on it and the original harness should have lasted the lifetime of the vehicle. This is a safety issue.
my 2016 Honda Accord EX-L V6 is on it's 4th starter.A service Bulletin has been issued 16-002 to fix the problem ,but it has not made a difference.I have contacted Honda Corp(Case 13172338) i August 2022 and they did not want to help even though they knew it was a on going problem with V6 owners. The internet has plenty of V6 owners that have the same problem and are left with cars that can't be fixed properly. I believe that since Honda does not have that engine since 2017 they are wishing the customers will just go away.
In 2021, Its been told my starter is beginning to fail. Takes multiple attempts to start car. Does not happen every start up, and seem to not happen when taken in for diagnosis. Mechanic says until it does it everyday don't worry about. Its becoming more frequent, and now the car runs loud and hard. Had a previous issue and had both catalyst converters, and since then its been problem after problem.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55-60 MPH, the check engine, power steering, traction control, and TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle lost power, but the driver was able to pull over safely. The contact stated that the gear shift indicator was blank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved code: P2138 (Incorrect voltage position sensor and throttle body sensor). The throttle body and accelerator pedal were replaced, but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, my wife was parking her car in the parking lot of a TJ Maxx, 4220 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. As she turned right into the parking space, at a very low rate of speed, 1-2 mph, the engine revved and launched her into another parked vehicle. Once the engine revved and launched she had both feet on the brake pedal. It did light damage to the vehicle she hit and moderate damage to her 2016 Honda Accord Coupe. The impact was hard enough to deploy the driver side airbag. No one was in the other vehicle and she did not sustain serious injury. The car was towed to a body shop. The other vehicle was drivable and insurances were exchanged.
Car burns 1 qt of oil every 3k miles. More oil needs to be added between regular service intervals or the engine will become damaged from lack of oil.
I have a 2016 Honda Accord EX -L. V6 .it has 100500 miles .In that time it has gone through 3 starters.Honda has issued a service bulletin( 16-002) but never a recall.Checking the internet there a lot of people having the same problem.I have filed a complaint with Honda motor and they want to split the cost of repair. I don’t think that’s fair because it is a known problem because of a design flaw
Burns oil. Have to add a quart every 1000 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while turning on the vehicle, the engine started but then turned off by itself however, the radio and AC remained on. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Engine ratlles for about 1-2 sec during cold startup. Car has 94000 miles.
IF I HAVE THE CAR LIGHT ON AUTO AND TURN OFF THE CAR THE ENGINE STILL RUNS AND IT DOES NOT TURN OFF UNTIL I TURN OF THE AUTO SWITCH FOR THE HEADLIGHTS AND THE INDICATOR COMES ON RANDOMLY AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR

I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND MY CAR STARTED STALLING A JERKED FORWARD ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION I PULLED OVER TO A SAFE AREA AND CALLED MY FAMILY MEMBER HE HAD TO DRIVE IT TO ADVANCE AUTO AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. I CALLED HONDA AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND GOT THE CAR TOWED TO HONDA WHERE IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED AS A FUEL PUMP TO BE REPLACED PER THEM MY CAR HAD NO OTHER ISSUES AS I ALWAYS KEEP UP THE MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR AS I'M STILL PAYING FOR IT. THE ONLY COMPANY THAT HAS THIS PART WAS HONDA SO THEY ORDERED THE PART AND ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE IT. ONCE I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK I NOTICED A STRONG GAS SMELL AND STALLING TO CRANK. LAST NIGHT MY DASHBOARD LOST ELECTRICITY FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND MY ENGINE STALLED. I LOST POWER STEERING CONTROL. AFTER 2 SECONDS, ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE DASHBOARD RETURNED TO NORMAL, AS DID THE POWER STEERING AND ENGINE, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THIS MORNING, I DROVE ON A STREET & SMOKE ENTERED THE CABIN AREA OF THE CAR & I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. OPENED THE HOOD AND THE BATTERY (POSITIVE TERMINAL) WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. A GENTLEMAN PUT OUT THE FIRE WITH WATER FROM THE GAS STATION. MY BATTERY IS 1/4 MELTED, DUE TO THE FIRE. OTHER PLASTIC PARTS OF THE ENGINE ARE ALSO SLIGHTLY MELTED. I CALLED GARDENA HONDA (IN LOS ANGELES CA) AND THEY TOLD ME MY 2016 HONDA ACCORD WAS NOT PART OF THE BATTERY SENSOR RECALL BUT THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD SEEN MY EMAIL AND FORWARDED IT TO HER SUPERVISOR, AND THAT...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD DIFFICULTY WITH THE PUSH START FEATURE ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS WOULD ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE MADE A SCREECHING SOUND. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUSH THE BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD ACTUALLY ENGAGE AND START. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH LESTER RAINES HONDA (5102 MACCORKLE AVE SW, SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV 25309, 304-768-1251) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A COST ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE SAME INFORMATION AS THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.
BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND CONSTANTLY DRAINS DESPITE TURNING OFF AUTOMATIC LIGHTS AND AIR CONDITIONING TO UTILIZE LESS BATTERY POWER. TURNING OVER WILL CHOKE AT TIMES AND START BUT ABOUT EVERY TIME THAT I TAKE MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE THE BATTERY POWER TESTS LOW.
I HAVE A TOURING TRIM OF THE HONDA ACCORD 2016, MEANING IT HAS A V6 ENGINE. AT AROUND 38,000 MILES, THE STARTER STARTED ACTING UP. WHEN I TRY TO START IT, IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND WON'T START. I LIVED WITH IT FOR A LITTLE BIT BECAUSE I'M USUALLY ABLE TO GET IT TO START AFTER A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW STARTER FROM HONDA, INSTALLED IT, AND THE CAR WORKED PERFECTLY AGAIN. IT STARTED EVERY TIME. 1 WEEK LATER AND THE ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AS OFTEN, BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING AT ALL. IT'S A BRAND NEW STARTER AND I'M HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS BEFORE. IT HAPPENS LIKE ONCE A DAY NOW. THE OLD STARTER WAS GIVING ME ISSUES EVERY OTHER TIME I TRIED TO START THE CAR. WON'T BE LONG BEFORE THE SAME HAPPENS WITH THIS BRAND NEW...
VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY CAUGHT ON FIRE! THE WHOLE CAR BUSTED INTO FLAMES WITHOUT WARNING ON THE FREEWAY
WHILE ON A TRIP DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AT 72 MPH, IN BUSY TRAFFIC, WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE ENGINE STALLED. I ROLLED TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER, AND THE CAR DIDN'T RESTART. ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON, BUT ALL ELECTRONICS (RADIO, COMPUTER SCREENS) WERE WORKING. HONDA TOWED (UNDER WARRANTY) TO THEIR NEAREST DEALERSHIP. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE CAR, AND TELLING ME IT RESTARTED AND DISPLAYED NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES, I WAS SENT ON MY WAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AS THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. STILL ON A TRIP, AND ABOUT 500 MILES LATER, I WAS AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE PASSING A GROUP OF SEMI'S ON ABOUT A 5% GRADE, WITH CARS IN FRONT OF AND BEHIND ME, WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME WAS MUCH SCARIER AS I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE, AND THE RIGHT SHOULDER WAS BLOCKED BY A LONG STRING OF SEMI'S....
LED LIGHTS ARE OUT AGAIN SINCE MY CAR REACH 45000 MILES IT NO LONGER COVERED. I HAD MY CAR SINCE FEB. 2017 IT HAD 21000 MILES WITHIN 8 MOS ITS SHOWS I PUT 30000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE 5 OIL CHANGES SINCE FEB. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH THIS MOTOR I LIVE IN MS AND HAVE DROVE TO TEXAS MAYBE 3 TIMES.
VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS ,INCLUDING "METHYL ISOBUTYL KETONE" ARE ENTERING THE VEHICLE CABIN WHILE THE ENGINE IS ON. THIS IS CAUSING SERIOUS EYE IRRITATION AND BREATHING IRRITATION. THIS DESPITE THE AIR CONDITIONING BEING ON, ALL VENTS CLOSED, ALL WINDOWS UP. I'VE ATTACHED THE RESULTS OF A "PASSIVE DIFFUSE MONITOR" THAT WAS USED IN THE CABIN TO MONITOR THE AIR QUALITY FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK IN DECEMBER 2016.
HONDA QUALITY PROBLEMS. WE BOUGHT A 2016 HONDA ACCORD IN JANUARY. AFTER FEW MONTHS THE CAR STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION ALL OF A SUDDEN AND COMES TO A LOW SPEED (0-5 MPH) WITHIN SECONDS. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I TOOK TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES. FIRST TIME - THE DEALER SAID THAT HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR SECOND TIME - AS PER HONDA TECH, THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE CHIP IN THE COMPUTER IS THE PROBLEM. SO THEY SAID THAT THE SOFTWARE IN THE COMPUTER NEEDED UPGRADE (STRANGE.. IT IS A BRAND NEW CAR. AND WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ONLY ONE CAR. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE CASE WITH OTHER CARS PRODUCED AT THE SAME TIME). THIRD TIME - AS PER HONDA TECH, THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATION KIT AS THEY THOUGHT THAT IS THE PROBLEM. FOURTH TIME...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AT LESS THAN 600 MILES, SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING AT LESS THAN 30MPH,TRANSMISSION FAILURE, IN DRIVE, OPERATED LIKE LOW GEAR. CAR RATTLE, WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING: ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, CYLINDER MALFUNCTION, TPMS, AND VSA.
