NHTSA Complaint #11641427 — 2016 HONDA ACCORD

My 2016 Honda Accord has approximately 137,000 miles. I change the oil, filters, etc. at regular intervals. One night I noticed a ticking when going uphill. I thought it might be a belt.(no warning lights) The next day I had to go somewhere, and on my way back the ticking got noticeably worse and then the engine started screeching. Massive loss of power. Shortly after, a loud bang/thump noise and the car stopped running. I pulled into a school parking lot, got the car towed. Next day the mechanic where the car was towed said I threw a rod, and it went through the engine block and the oil pan; and my engine would have to be replaced. I have not (yet) replaced the engine (waiting for estimate). Spoke to Honda corporate (case #XXXX) to see if they could help me out (financially) with the replacement, because everyone I talked to said it's highly unusual for a Honda to throw a rod with mileage this low (anecdotal I know, but still). I spoke to local Honda dealer (Honda corporate said it would have to be inspected by Honda) but have not had it towed there yet.
