TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE IGNITION RELAY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE IGNITION RELAY. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE HAD RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 230,000.

MY 99 HONDA ACCORD EX CUTS OFF WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS DUE TO IGNITION SENSOR WHICH I CORRECTED SHORTLY AFTER BUYING MY CAR WITH RICK HENDRICK HONDA. NOW YEARS LATER THERE IS A RECALL ON THE IGNITION INTERLOCK. BUT, HONDA WILL NOT FIX THE IGNITION SENOR BECAUSE IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL. CERTAINLY THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY MATTER AND I FEEL IT'S UNFAIR THAT HONDA WILL ONLY FIX HALF OF THE PROBLEM AND BURDEN THE COST TO ME. I DON'T THINK I'M ALONE WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I WAS TRYING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR STALLED. WHEN I REALIZED WHAT HAPPENED AND TRIED TO COAST OFF THE ROAD, THE CAR STARTED BACK UP WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. IT CONTINUED TO STALL AND RESTART NINE TIMES IN A 3 MILE STRETCH. THE LAST TIME I PULLED OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT RESTART. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO START THE CAR. IT STARTED. I DROVE THE NEXT 10 MILES HOLDING THE KEY STEADYING IN THE IGNITION. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT HELPED BUT I GOT HOME WITHOUT IT STALLING AGAIN. I KNEW IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN RECALLED AND REPLACED TWICE PREVIOUSLY. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY EMISSION SYSTEM AND I HAD TO HAVE MY EVAC CANISTER REPLACED ($250). I DID THAT AND WAS DRIVING HOME...

I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM SF TO OUR HOME IN SANTA ROSA, AND I NOTICED SMOKE STREAMING FROM THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THEN THE ODOMETER DROPPED FROM 65 TO 0, WENT BACK TO 65, THEN FLUCTUATED. AS I TOOK THE EXIT OFF THE FREEWAY, THE CAR WAS LOSING POWER, AND JERKED WHEN I GAVE IT GAS. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED THE TOW TRUCK. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT A 1999 HONDA ACCORD EX IN 2002. NOT LONG AFTER BUYING THE CAR WE NOTICED THAT THE CAR ACTED SLUGGISH WHEN GOING FROM A STOP. IT WASN'T THAT MUCH OF A PROBLEM SO WE DIDN'T DO MUCH ABOUT IT OTHER THAN ADDING HEET TO THE GASOLINE THINKING WE HAD BAD GASOLINE. ONE TIME, IT WOULD NOT START UNTIL THE 5TH OR 6TH TURN OF THE KEY. I COULD NOT EVEN CHANGE GEARS. THE ANTI- THEFT LIGHT HAS BLINKED ON OCCASION WHILE IN MOTION AS WELL.
