2018 HARLEY-DAVIDSON FLHTCUTG — Problems, Recalls & Safety Data

This Harley Davidson and many others won’t start while in gear. I was at a red light and when the light turned green I started in 1st gear and stalled the bike in the middle of the intersection. Normally Harley’s will start in gear so I tried but it wouldn’t. I had to turn off the bike, put it in neutral and start it. Harley issued a Service Bulletin, see attached, however unless the bike is under warranty they won’t fix it. This should be a recall as it’s very dangerous. I just purchased the bike and the previous owner had no idea. Please help fix this. Thanks

RECALL NOT COMPLETED AT DEALERSHIP DESPITE OUR REQUEST & BEING TOLD THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN DONE. (OR) 3. RECALL NOT COMPLETED CORRECTLY AT DEALERSHIP.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN NOVEMBER OF 2016. HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF NASSAU COUNTY (2428 SUNRISE HWY, BELLMORE, NY 11710) STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED BIKE WAS REPAIRED IN APRIL OF 2019. *TR
